"You know, you wouldn't be the first person to accuse me of being illogical."

Under most circumstances, Sam might say that Spock not being himself wasn't necessarily a bad thing. But for one thing this was Spock's fiance, and she probably got along with him a good deal better than Sam did (he could only hope). And for another thing, hell, given the way Spock had been acting, he did kind of miss the typical passive aggression--at least over the aggressive aggression.

He smiles at her, trying to show her that he's sympathetic to the situation, even if maybe he could've worded it better. "Look, I don't know the whole situation, and I can't say I know Spock all that well, but... I've heard rumors. And, apropos of nothing, I can tell you that I could list every single time my dad didn't show up to something that was important to me right off the top of my head, going all the way back to a science fair when I was seven. It can make a person act out of character, in my experience."

He pauses, then adds cautiously, "And I know Vulcans have their own ways of handling stress, probably a lot better than I do, but I know it can be a challenge when both parents are around too. There's an old Earth phrase... Can't win for losing?"

" ---Clearly, being that the situation is ---as you say--- worse, it would be illogical to express that anything about it is all right. "

Such a contradictory statement seems so typically and unerringly human. So too, was the brash retelling of her fiancé ( swept up in a maelstrom of newly-surfaced emotion ) sparing no effort to threaten violence upon the Lieutenant. T'Pring gives pause, finding little justification in Sam's words.

PLEASE do not vague post about me. if you feel the need to vague post about me, please just block me instead. i won’t complain about you blocking me or make any posts about you; my mental health is heavily impacted by vague post nonsense, and i do not want to deal with it. I’d rather we just not interact at all. NOTE: if you ever feel that i’m vague posting about you, feel free to contact me. i do not do vague posts and talk to people directly if necessary, but i understand the need to be reassured.
