Comparing the rotations of objects in the Solar System. Just look at them lol.✨🪐
To everyone that's confused, the planet Venus rotates very very slowly, with a single revolution taking about 243 Earth days, and Mercury rotates slowly, but not as slow as Venus.

“I’m not a hero cause calling yourself a hero makes you a self mythologizing, narcissistic autocrat” explained
Within Hobie’s introduction, he gives us this very iconic quote “I’m not a hero cause calling yourself a hero makes you self mythologizing, narcissistic autocrat” and many people within the fandom think it was cool of Hobie to say that while there are some people who think Hobie was wrong in saying that and others who just don’t understand why Hobie would say that and so I wanted to try and breakdown the quote and explain what Hobie meant when he said that so let’s get into it!
So we all have an idea of what a hero is. A hero is someone who puts others before themselves, is someone who shows great bravery and courage and has empathy and compassion for other people. That doesn’t sound bad, we generally think of heroes in a really positive light but Hobie on the other hand, doesn’t think that the label is positive
Now despite Hobie actually meeting the criteria of what makes someone a hero, he doesn’t regard himself as such because he believes it’s a negative label yet the definition of the word “hero” itself doesn’t sound negative. The definition that comes up when you search up the definition of hero is “A person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities.” Now when Hobie regards the label ‘hero’ in a negative light, it’s not because of the definition, the definition actually doesn’t matter. To Hobie what matters is what the label entails and the kinds of people who have called themselves heroes.
Now is Hobie wrong in say that calling yourself a hero makes you a self mythologizing, narcissistic autocrat? WELL-
-Calling yourself a hero is mythologizing because by calling yourself a hero, you’re making yourself out to be an idealised individual who can do no wrong as that’s what the label entails.
-Calling yourself a hero makes you narcissistic because when you call yourself a hero, it entails that other people will regard you with a level of importance that’s higher than the average person’s importance and you’re bound to also regard yourself with a significantly higher level of self importance simply because of the fact that you commit heroic acts. Then again though, this can make you wonder if it even is wrong to regard a hero as more important because they’re the ones who are saving people and trying to keep the world safe however to Hobie, this enforces for there to be hierarchies which ends up being bad for other people because we’d then have our perception of whether someone is valuable or not dictate how we treat others and that can lead to a lot of mistreatment and also to the disregard of other people’s wants and needs.
-Calling yourself a hero makes you an autocrat because being a hero entails that you hold power, not just from your abilities but from how people within society regard you. Being considered a hero places you in the top position within the societal hierarchy that we have and that means that you have power that you can use and we all know the phrase “with great power comes great responsibility” but our lovely British punk anarchist, Hobie Brown believes in “With great power comes no future” as power can attract the worst of the worst kinds of people and it can also corrupt the best of the best kinds of people and it can be used to rule over other peoples lives and take their autonomy away.
So in short, no Hobie is not wrong (if you think he is wrong and want to explain why he is, please comment why you think he’s wrong!)
Like I said, it’s all about what the label “hero” entails and Hobie doesn’t want any of it. He doesn’t want to be seen as more important than other people, he doesn’t want to be seen as an idealised person who can do no wrong, he doesn’t want to be in a position of power and him refusing to label himself as a hero is one way of rejecting all of the stuff that aren’t desirable to him as an anarchist and as an overall person. (And also when Hobie says that he’s not a role model, that’s him further rejecting all of the stuff I mentioned and shows that Hobie doesn’t idealise himself as he acknowledges that he’s a flawed person)
Now apart from Hobie being an anarchist and all that jazz, how did he even reach this conclusion? This is only something that I can speculate on so don’t take this as being factual or canon to movie Hobie because we haven’t gotten his backstory. Now in the comics, Hobie at one point was a homeless teenager which means he unfortunately observed a lot of atrocities and went through some bad experiences and he also got to witness from the perspective of being someone at a lower rank within societal hierarchy what power can do which then reinforced his anarchist beliefs and motivated him to kill President Osborn (It seems like Hobie doesn’t follow anarcho-pacifism.) Now Hobie’s conclusions with his stance on heroism, I think it’s a conclusion he reached through observing other heroes but also through observing himself as Spiderpunk. There’s a particular scene in ATSV where we get a glimpse into Hobie’s backstory
Here it is

(OH MY GOD HOBIE BEING A PINKISH/PURPLISH COLOUR HERE HAS TO MEAN THAT HE’S PROUD OF HIMSELF FOR TAKING THAT DECISION REEEEE)
Alright so I think that that moment of Hobie throwing away the Spider punk suit might have been a “You became the very thing that you swore to destroy” kind of moment for him and so it further reinforced his conclusions about heroism because he got a first person glance into what calling yourself a hero can entail, not just from society but from yourself and how you see yourself and other people. I could be wrong but that’s just my speculation/theory
So in short, Hobie hates what the label entails.
I hope that this made sense and that I gave a proper explanation for this quote. This was just an explanation but if this made you agree with him, cool. If not, tell me your thoughts and opinions on Hobie saying this in the comments if you want to!
Thanks for reading

I know you’re worried. I understand things may have happened in the past. I’m here to reassure you that despite all of that, I believe that you will deal with it differently, if not better. You are not a fixed entity, you are a human who is constantly developing. You have grown since. Trust yourself again: you deserve peace.
