The 37th Copa America 2024 reveals all the details of its calendar
he official calendar for the 37th Copa America has been announced, revealing crucial details of the event. The last phase of this prestigious competition will begin on August 22nd with the third preliminary race and will culminate on October 21st with the grand final. Organizers shared detailed information about the third preliminary race, the Louis Vuitton Cup, in which the challengers participate and the decisive stage of the tournament.

The six contending teams will participate in the preliminary regatta from August 22nd to 25th in Barcelona, using for the first time the new AC75s with which they will officially compete. This event will take place at the Barcelona regatta course. Immediately afterwards, on August 29, 2024, the challenger tournament, the Louis Vuitton Cup, will begin. The format of this competition will include two 'round robins' (double matches between all teams) involving all six participants, including the current defending champion, Emirates Team New Zealand.
According to the established rules, the results of meetings during the 'round robin' phase between a challenger and the defender will not affect the qualification for the semi-finals. The four best challengers will advance to the semi-final stage of the Louis Vuitton Cup, while the last one will be eliminated. The best placed in the 'round robins' will have the privilege of choosing their opponent in the semi-finals, which will be played in a best of nine regattas, meaning the first to achieve five victories will advance.
As for the Louis Vuitton Cup grand final, the winners of the semi-finals will compete in a best-of-thirteen race series, and the winner will be the first to achieve seven wins. This decisive clash will take place from October 12th and is expected to end on October 21st, although additional days have been reserved from October 22nd to 27th in case they are needed.
In addition, the schedule for youth and women's competitions was announced. The Copa America Jovem, for male or mixed crews under 25 years old, will be played from September 17th to 26th, while the Puig Women's Copa America will be held from October 5th to 13th.
Grant Dalton, CEO of Emirates Team New Zealand and America's Cup Events (ACE), spoke about his team's rivals in this edition: “This is probably the highest level of challengers we have seen in the America's Cup in the last 25 years, and the winner will emerge strengthened by the intensity of the Louis Vuitton Cup. As for Emirates Team New Zealand, we will have already seen the competitiveness in the Round Robin stage, but it will be a very different and interesting challenge that we will have to overcome in the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup Match. It will be a classic World Cup competition.”
He also highlighted the importance of the Copa America Jovem and Copa America Femenina Puig: “This is the maximum global exposure for our young and female participants. These will be very difficult competitions to win, where all the regatta disciplines will be tested. The winners of each event will be catapulted onto the world stage and we will certainly see future Copa America legends emerge. It’s an exciting yet demanding format designed to test athletes to the max.”
The Copa America 2024 calendar is distributed as follows:
– Third preliminary race: from 22 to 25 August
– Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robins: from August 29th to September 8th
– Louis Vuitton Cup Semifinals: September 14th to 19th
– Louis Vuitton Cup Finals: September 26th to October 5th
– Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup Match: from October 12th to 21st

CONMEBOL 2024 Copa América will be played in 14 venues in the United States of America
The 48th edition of the Copa América, which will be held between June and July 2024 between 16 teams from CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, will be played in 14 cities in the United States, CONMEBOL announced this Monday (4).
The highest body of South American football, organizer of the competition, had already informed that the opening game of the Copa América 2024 would be played on June 20th, at the Mercedes Benz Arena, in Atlanta (state of Georgia), and the final on Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami (Florida).
This Monday, CONMEBOL revealed that the AT&T Stadium, in Arlington (Texas), the NRG Stadium in Houston (Texas), the State Farm, in Glendale (Arizona) and the Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas (Nevada) will host the quarter-final games.
The semifinals, in turn, will be played at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford (New Jersey), and at Bank of America Stadium, in Charlotte (North Carolina).
Other facilities that will be used will be Q2 Stadium in Austin (Texas), SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (California), Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (California), Exploria Stadium in Orlando (Florida), Children's Mercy Park, in Kansas City (Kansas) and GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, in Kansas City (Missouri).
The group stage will be played from June 20th to July 2nd, the quarter-finals between July 4th and 6th, the semi-finals on the 9th and 10th and the third place match on July 13th.
The group draw will take place on Thursday (7) in Miami.
The Copa América, the oldest national team tournament in the world, held since 1916, will be played for the second time in the United States with an expanded edition, featuring the ten South American countries and six from CONCACAF.
"The exciting prospect of co-hosting the 2024 Copa América with our partners at CONMEBOL will consolidate our region as the global football hub ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup," said Víctor Montagliani, president of CONCACAF in November, when he announced the locations of the opening game and the final of the tournament.
In 2016, to celebrate the competition's 100th anniversary, a similar edition was held, called Copa América Centenario, in the United States, won by Chile, who defeated Lionel Messi's Argentina in the final on penalties.

USMNT Copa America 2024 Roster: Projecting the players 23
The 2024 Copa América will provide the U.S. men’s national team with a huge opportunity to show it can compete with the world’s best ahead of a home World Cup in 2026.
It will also be the last chance the USMNT has to face strong opposition in meaningful competition ahead of the next World Cup, which will put plenty of pressure on Gregg Berhalter and his team.
The USMNT has been handed an ideal draw in Group C, with winnable games versus Bolivia and Panama alongside a true test against Uruguay, which should serve the team well ahead of any potential knockout round matches.
Berhalter will have plenty to think about before his side kicks off the tournament on June 23, not least of which will be the 23 players he’ll name to the roster.
Here are our picks for the players Berhalter will name to his roster for the 2024 Copa América.
Goalkeepers: Matt Turner, Drake Callender, Gabriel Slonina Despite an up-and-down debut season with Nottingham Forest, it’s hard to imagine anybody other than Turner in goal when the Copa América kicks off.
Part of that is down to Turner’s performances with the USMNT and part is simply because no viable alternative has emerged recently.
Two of those possible alternatives, Zack Steffen and Ethan Horvath, haven’t played at all in months. Steffen has secured a move to the Colorado Rapids, while Horvath needs to leave Nottingham Forest, where he’s currently third string.
With Steffen needing to re-prove himself in MLS and Horvath’s future uncertain, we’re giving Callender and Slonina the nod here. The USMNT goalkeeper situation behind Turner, though, is highly fluid and subject to change.
Defenders: Sergiño Dest, Antonee Robinson, Joe Scally, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Miles Robinson, Tim Ream, Chris Richards, Kristoffer Lund Robinson is an absolute lock to start at left back and Dest’s comeback season at PSV means he’s close to a lock at right back, despite his complete meltdown in the USMNT’s last match.
Center back is a real trouble spot for this team. Ream has impressed over the past two years but time could be catching up with him. Robinson had a down year in 2023 and is staying in MLS instead of testing himself abroad. Carter-Vickers has been a standout with Celtic but could use to test himself at a higher level. Richards can’t get minutes at defense with Crystal Palace but has been converted to an every-game starter in midfield of late.
And those are the players on the roster.
World Cup starter Walker Zimmerman has recently been a healthy scratch from national team rosters. Auston Trusty could be next in line for a call-up, as he’s getting valuable Premier League minutes on an admittedly limited Sheffield United squad. Mark McKenzie is in the mix as well.
Scally is a solid bet to make the squad as a utility fullback, and can even play center back in a pinch. The backup left back position is up for grabs, as it has been for a while. Dest may be the actual backup, but Lund gets the nod for now to boost the team’s depth.
Midfielders: Johnny Cardoso, Tyler Adams, Luca de la Torre, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Malik Tillman The health of Adams is the biggest question mark in the USMNT midfield at this point. If he returns in February or March as Bournemouth’s owner expects him to, then the USMNT captain will have plenty of time to recapture his starting spot ahead of the Copa América.
That could see the MMA midfield reconstituted, with Musah and (especially) McKennie enjoying strong campaigns in Serie A.
We could also see Reyna continue to start at the No. 10 in a more attacking setup. The 21-year-old continues to struggle for minutes at Dortmund, but he’s a lock to play a prominent role at the Copa América if healthy.
Tillman is almost redundant with Reyna on the squad as well, but the PSV midfielder is starting to put it all together and is simply too talented to keep off this roster — though he’s yet to make a real impact with the USMNT.
Cardoso’s spot as a backup No. 6 looks secure regardless of Adams’ health, but the new Real Betis signing would obviously have a much bigger role in the event of another setback. So too would fellow La Liga midfielder De la Torre, whose ball progression and ability in possession make him too valuable to leave off this squad.
Forwards: Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, Ricardo Pepi, Folarin Balogun, Haji Wright Pulisic and Weah are locks to start at the two wide forward positions, while the No. 9 role is becoming an intriguing competition between Pepi and Balogun.
Balogun looks to be the favorite but is in the midst of a scoring slump at Monaco, while Pepi has done nothing but score for PSV and the USMNT over the past year — but almost always as a substitute. He clearly deserves more minutes, but he’s proving rather valuable off the bench as well.
The final spot is a difficult choice, but Wright just gets the nod over Brenden Aaronson. At some point, Aaronson’s collapse in club form is going to cost him on the national team level, and there are no shortage of alternatives who could take his spot this summer.
Wright is the choice for now. The Coventry City attacker is having a strong campaign and has recently been at his most effective while playing as a winger. That ability to play wide or as a No. 9 gives him the edge.
That only leaves one backup winger in this forward group, but Reyna and Tillman have played the position for the USMNT in the recent past. Though both are more comfortable inside, that ability could allow Berhalter to only take five players in the forward group. Dest could also move up to play a more defensive winger role if needed.
Aside from Aaronson, there are a whole host of talented players who could miss out, including Josh Sargent. The Norwich striker could make himself impossible to leave out, however, with a strong run of scoring form — which could also be said for Daryl Dike or Brandon Vazquez.
Kevin Paredes is young and super talented but still doesn’t quite seem ready for extended minutes for club or country. He looks like a strong candidate for the 2026 World Cup squad, though, if he continues his upward trajectory.
Projected 2024 USMNT Copa America roster Goalkeepers (3): Matt Turner, Drake Callender, Gabriel Slonina
Defenders (8): Sergiño Dest, Antonee Robinson, Joe Scally, Miles Robinson, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Tim Ream, Chris Richards, Kristoffer Lund
Midfielders (7): Johnny Cardoso, Tyler Adams, Luca de la Torre, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Malik Tillman
Forwards (5): Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, Ricardo Pepi, Folarin Balogun, Haji Wright

Christian Pulisic: USMNT goal is to win Copa America
U.S. men's national team star Christian Pulisic has said the team is planning to bring back home the Copa América on home soil this mid year.
The South American title will hold an extraordinary version in the US in 2024, with every one of the 10 CONMEBOL teams joined by six visitor sides from CONCACAF.
For the USMNT, the competition will act as a significant benchmark in front of facilitating the 2026 World Cup close by Canada and Mexico. Gregg Berhalter's side has been given a great attract Gathering C, with matches against Bolivia, Panama and Uruguay anticipating in the gathering stage.
The U.S. will hope to complete on Gathering C, as a runner up finish would mean a reasonable quarterfinal date with Brazil. Any gathering with Argentina, the competition #1, wouldn't be imaginable until the last.
In a meeting with The Athletic, Pulisic was asked what he would consider a fruitful competition for the USMNT this mid year, especially considering the group arriving at the elimination rounds of the 2016 version.
"There's no action to say precisely, 'Assuming we get this far, that is achievement,'" Pulisic said. "We're going in with the mindset (of) taking it game by game and, obviously, the objective is to win the competition — consistently when you go into a competition — so that is the way we check things out.
"We have a decent youthful group and this is an incredible chance for us to play against the world's ideal and ideally show the world what we can do."
The Air conditioner Milan forward said that he and his partners will have a one of a kind open door throughout the following two years, with a home Copa América and World Cup giving a stage to transform the historical backdrop of American soccer.
"I watched World Cups as a youngster and watching [Clint] Dempsey scoring objectives On the planet Cup," he says, "[Landon] Donovan scoring the triumphant objective (against Algeria in South Africa in 2010). That's what it's minutes like, that stick to kids and can truly move an age, which is how those minutes helped me."

Copa America 2024 to be held in the USA
Copa America 2024 will take place in the United States
Copa America will feature ten teams from South America’s CONMEBOL region and six teams of the CONCACAF in 2024.
CONCACAF (the confederation of North and Central America, and the Caribbean) announced that the tournament will be jointly organised by the two organisations.
This announcement is one of several new collaborative projects between North and South American confederations.
Copa America, which will be held in 2026 by the United States, Mexico and Canada as co-hosts of the World Cup is seen to be the ideal build up for this tournament.
This will ensure that all three hosts, which qualify for the 48-team World Cup automatically, will be able to play additional games of competition in preparation.
In 2016, the United States hosted an edition of Copa America celebrating its centennial, which included teams from CONCACAF.
In 2023/24, the six CONCACAF National Teams will be required to qualify for Copa America by competing in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Ecuador originally planned to host the 2024 Copa America, but has decided against hosting.
CONCACAF announced that it will organise in 2024 a competition of the 'Final Four" style featuring the four top club teams from both regions.
Two clubs from each CONMEBOL confederation will be selected through the existing CONCACAF and CONMEBOL club competitions.
In 2024, CONCACAF will invite the best four teams in South America to compete in a new CONCACAF W Gold Cup.
This tournament is also being held in America and Brazil, Colombia and Argentina will be taking part.
Victor Montagliani said that the partnership would benefit both CONCACAF (the CONCACAF president) and CONMEBOL (the CONMEBOL president).
He added, "Working with CONMEBOL we will deliver the elite competitions which will give more opportunities to our federations and we know that passionate fans are looking forward to seeing."
