U don’t understand people growing up so you read lots of novels so you can still feel connections to fictional people and to the people who write the novels and maybe you hope you will learn more about how people work from reading all those novels but unfortunately novelists are not usually great at knowing how normal and well-adjusted people work or else they probably wouldn’t be novelists

This is why I love this show because besties are communicated like this. Subtle and yet so tender.
I love how regularly Sam and Daniel (Amanda and Michael) go "personal space? I don't know her"

As I was falling asleep last night after watching Serpent’s Song…
My eyes popped open like Squidward because I realized Daniel Jackson was standing on the right side the bed, threatening to kill Apophis if he didn’t tell him where Sha-re was, and then later standing on the left side of the bed, speaking gently to the dying soul, ensuring him his spirit would go to the afterlife.
And yo…. that’s…. Damn.

Watching SG-1 for the first time: Reactions:
I can’t keep doing these episode by episode because real life is busy and I can’t keep track of what I’m watching night by night, but I have realized a few things:
Daniel actually is really quite skilled at diplomacy, more so than his other teammates. Too bad it literally never works. (He’s my fave. I always fall for the empathetic pacifist who sees the world as worth defending but not without ignoring its faults).
Some things are played as serious but are meant to make us laugh, yes? Little in-jokes? Like I just watched Spirits, and the arrow comes flying through the Gate and hits Jack and I go ā€œnot againā€¦ā€

Sam and Jack: We're having a baby.
Daniel: Oh congratu—
Sam and Jack, slamming adoption papers onto the table: It's you, sign here.

Idk maybe it’s the ā€œspace monkeyā€ and Princess Shyla of it all, but as a first time watcher, it seems to me the writers tried to make Daniel Jackson the ā€œkidā€ of the group, especially in the beginning of this second season (when according to Stargate wiki, he is three years older than Sam). Like the 90s pretty boy, curious kid oopsie character who gets the team stuck in misadventures.
Idk maybe I’m bothered by space monkey lol

First Time Watching Stargate SG-1: Prisoners and The Gameskeeper Reactions:
Prisoners:
Intriguing! Setting up a foe for the future? I liked this a lot! This is the sort of episode I love: a spooky little adventure that may come back to bite them in the future?
The Gameskeeper:
Nickelodeon called. They want their Spy Kids villain back.
Honestly I kind of love when shows were like this. A really strong foundation of the season and then stinker bomb episodes like this.
Michael Shanks is ACTINGGGG here and I mean, I can’t blame him because what else can you do but cry GOD NO when a papier-mĆ¢chĆ© set falls on your parents.
His little tunic was fun and heinous. Daniel never gets to wear anything other than his SG-1 jacket.
I was actually intrigued by O’Neill’s story. Then Daniel’s took me out of it.
Speaking of being taken out: Teal’c hair reveal
O’Neill speaks for us all when he jumps out of the pod and says ā€œanyways, we’re out of hereā€

First Time Watching Stargate SG-1: The Serpent’s Lair and In The Line of Duty Reactions
The themes, the symbolism, the motifs, the callbacks, I see them and that is just one way to make me loooooove your show
Skaara/Klorel being revived in the sarcophagus undercut Jack’s decision a bit, but I mean I get it, and he’s gone again anyways, so I guess it doesn’t matter either way.
Daniel Jackson is really underrated…. Like I know he is a main character, but he’s such a good character? He got himself ā€˜cophed. He did that HIMSELF. Ok? Like. He is awesome.
Only thing I have to say about In The Line of Duty besides why is Cassandra finger painting is…
Sam(?) and her grenade were back and I loved that.

Ah hello! So glad you saw my post! I have only just finished season 1 so I have to hide from spoilers (literally everything is crawling with spoilers, which makes sense for a 20+ year old show) but maaaaannnn where has this been all my life???
Of course I get deeply invested into a show that ended 18 years ago and a fandom that has been erased by live journal or ff dot net.
