A finger comes to rest on her chin as she looks off into the distance, thinking to herself. Where was it again? Her sister's knight, Sir Ingus, had told her and her sister of the legend a long time ago, but she was struggling to recall the details. The most she could remember was something about a cave… Oh! And the creature that dwelled within. “Sir Ingus once told us about a cave it had once been sealed in, but a djinn had taken up residence shortly before the curse fell upon us all. I believe it should be there. And you'll need this.” She takes the silver ring off her finger and hands it to Edna. “It is a mythril ring. My sister has an identical one, but it is the djinn's only weakness. You'll need it when you go.”

A vague recollection dances across her mind of the soldier that her companion spoke of. It was odd, but Sarah knew exactly who Edna had spoken to. It had been a very long time since she'd seen him - right before the two sisters had been separated. Looking in the distance, Sarah’s eyes glaze over as her mind drifts back towards those events. Their family had been ripped a part then too. Their mother, Jayne, resided with Sarah in Cornelia while their father resided with Sara in Sasune. One day they would be reunited… One day, she had to believe. “Oh… Sir Garland informed you then… I haven't seen him in so long, but… yes. That's the curse I speak of. Our parents were separated too. Mother is here with me, but I haven't seen her since the darkness came.” Her eyes grow wide suddenly. “I am surprised he did not challenge you to a fight. I did hear whispers about a solitary knight seeking battle with anyone to hone his skills to go against the Lord of Calamity and the Shepherd over Sasune's and Cornelia's sacrifice.”

A magical bell that can stop anything? It won’t work on the Lord of Calamity, but the tornadoes on the other hand … ❝  Where in Sasune is it, or is it with the princess herself? Hopefully not the latter, or else that’d be so counterproductive.  ❞ Although she is no slouch, Edna strives to take the method that requires the least amount of work for such a delicate girl like herself. Edna gives an odd look as she watches Sarah fan herself. Weirdo princess. ❝  What ‘curse’?  ❞ she says instead, squinting suspiciously. Meebo only gave her a brief summary about the Lord of Calamity’s history and some basic information about Cornelia. Unless … ❝  But I do recall crossing paths with a gingerbread man who was prattling on about how the Shepherd had to pick a sacrifice to appease a god years ago. That sacrifice was the princess of Sasune——  ❞ Edna calmly looks at Sarah. ❝  ——but the Shepherd was too kindhearted for that, so he instead used the princess’ sweet memories of her time with her sister to form this kingdom as a failsafe alternative. Is that what you’re referring to?  ❞

she lets out a laugh before taking a drink. even if they had only be apart for not that long, sarah seems to have forgotten just how outgoing her younger sister truly was. speaking of lindblum, it would also be good for her too - not just because she'd be able to see eiko more, but it meant that she could finally relax. though she appreciated traveling the world over and performing all the time, it would be nice to catch her breath. maybe, just maybe, she'd also be able to catch up on her reading as well. there was a particular story she had found at an old bookstore about a tale of heartbreak and a beautiful princess being rescued by her knight in shining armor that had captivated her instantly. something about it seemed so familiar... "alright, you can tell him first. i had a feeling you were going to ask me or rather tell me that anyways. with the performance being here as well, we can spend more time together. i know you have your royal duties and all, but i was hoping we'd both be able to sweet talk the regent into letting you have more free time with me in town." reaching into her bag, she grabs a rough rolled up piece of parchment and then proceeds to slap it down on the table. "and with this, i don't think he'll be able to say no! they're schematics to an old machine of some sort. zidane was able to... smooth talk it off some noble when ruby and i caught him." sarah dismisses her sister's puppy dog eyes knowing full well that eiko just wanted to see more of her monkey man anyways. he was probably somewhere in town if she had to guess.

with eyes downcast, she doesn't say anything and only gives eiko a very small smile. she doubts the little girl is able to see it, but even so... looking up into her sister's eyes she says, "okay. i'm sorry, eiko. i hope you'll forgive me. i'm glad that you are not lonely now." that time was terrible. thinking about it still brought back horrible nightmares associated with those equally horrible memories. first her kidnapping then the loss of their home and nearly everyone in it. who knows what would've happened to the two girls if the moogles had not come to look over and after them. she thanked their lucky stars and whoever was watching over them for the fluffy creatures. "y-yes, boys... you know so much more than me, right? b-but-!" she flushes again. "b-back to our friends!! yes, they're all doing well. i'm still hoping that they are able to come out to lindblum and visit. i know they miss you so and i think it would be a great opportunity too with the play."

"yes, i think zidane would prefer your brains over anything." some of the girls sarah had encountered on her travels were quite vapid. it was not something she wanted her sister to fall prey to especially when it came to the thought of boys and zidane was one who hit on pretty women. though with a solid scolding from herself, ruby, and garnet perhaps he would think twice before doing the same to any of them. she knew him well enough to know that he'd never do something like that to eiko, but even just a warning should be good enough. "it's a good thing i brought this blueprint along then. we can look at it together and go over it before we give it to the regent." her eyes sparkle. "just imagine how surprised he'd be if we were able to surpass his deductions when it came to this old machine! maybe we could even get it to work before him!" 

after their journey to save the world was over, eiko remembers attending a few tantalus plays here and there with her sister. each tantalus member was quirky / all vivid and bright and unique, which is best demonstrated by how well they all unite together for a performance on the big stage. it fascinated her, how they’re all so different, yet so similar when they gather. their passion shines through no matter the location and type of play, and that’s what she enjoys the most, so eiko merrily replies, ❝  in lindblum? great, that means i don’t even have to make a trip then! i can let papa know so that we can welcome you all properly.  ❞ a pause, then a grin. ❝  well, you have to let me know first to tell him, of course——and then i can try to secure a good place for your performance!  ❞ obviously by sweet-talking with the theatre folks, which also counts for her princess duty of networking, so this counts as killing two birds with one stone, really. it’s all gonna work out. yep, yep! ❝  alexandria’s a pretty place, but it’s good to give lindblum some attention too! i love garnet and all, but it’d be nice if you guys came here for a change, all right?  ❞ she pouts, purposely pulling out the puppy-dog eyes. ( because if they came here to lindblum more, that also means zidane will come to lindblum more too. win-win for eiko!!! ) 

❝  you’re not a burden!!  ❞ she immediately replies, frowning out of disapproval at such words. her sister being a burden? eiko will not let that slide! ❝  you’re always there having my back. when grandpa and mog were gone, i could tough it out because i still had you, sarah. so don’t say that again, okay? not even as a joke.  ❞ zidane taught her that you’re not truly alone as long as you still have the people around you / being the younger one, eiko often clung onto sarah for a support system. on the day she lost mog, eiko still found strength to continue on because her sister was there to keep her afloat. she wanted to get that across somehow / that sarah is anything but a burden. she is eiko’s pillar. with that said, she’s now sobering up, blinking when sarah leans across the table to whisper about … ❝  boys … ?  ❞ eiko widens her eyes dramatically. is she hearing right? her sister … wants to talk about boys … ? not that eiko minds, but sarah rarely ever wants to talk about boys whenever eiko’s not yapping to her about her monkey-tailed crush. which boy has interested her sister? eiko is definitely going to ask later during the sleepover. there will be no escape. ❝  they’re all still doing good and are happy, right?  ❞ she asks, grinning. ❝  that’s all i need to know. i miss them a lot too, so i want to visit them, but if they’re gonna visit me, i’m definitely not going to complain. i just want to see them again, y’know?  ❞

swinging her legs as she sits on her chair, she gives a cheeky smile after swallowing another piece of her cake. ❝  just get blank to do it. he and ruby are always butting heads, so maybe it’ll help them grow closer or something.  ❞ ideally, marcus would’ve been a better choice because he’s so calm and rational, but eiko thinks this idea is more fun. fun is fun! ❝  besides, blank is really quick on his feet, so i think he’d be a good bodyguard for her.  ❞

she makes a disgusted face, nose scrunching——but before she can retort something for the remark, her sister just had to mention zidane’s name, which makes eiko pause. does she become a greasemonkey just for his affections, or does she not and risk warding him further away from her? oh, to be a princess with nothing to worry about … but it’s not like she wasn’t already so obvious to begin with. ❝  … i guess i should brush up on my machinery knowledge before he visits us. papa has some books.  ❞ she exhales determinedly. ❝  brains are more attractive, so maybe i’ll go for it that way!  ❞

Sarah frowns. There was nothing in Cornelia that she had that could aid Edna with her troubles. "Unfortunately there is nothing here that can assist you, but I do remember a tale of a magical bell in Sasune. Its magical powers are said to be able to stop anything." Her eyes drift to one of the chambers in the distance. Her own lute had lost its luster due to the Lord of Calamity's attack. Even with the kingdom restored, she wasn't sure if its powers had returned and she didn't want to send Edna on her way with a faulty object. "O-oh, I-" The blood rushes to her cheeks and she hears the clang of armor near the two of them. It must be the Warrior. Fanning herself with her hands, she replies, "-I can't possible go with you... as much as I'd love to. I have... responsibilities here and..." She looks down at her feet, hands clenched into fists now. "I am unable to leave the kingdom anyways. I haven't seen my sister in years because of the... 'curse' as we call it."

It seems that Edna underestimated how much Sasune is being affected by the malevolence … ❝  Tornadoes? I might have a spell or two to protect me from strong winds, but I can’t go up against tornadoes. Despite its elemental roots, magic is not meant to combat nature.  ❞ If Sasune is already targeted when they’ve barely rescued the first world, then there’s no doubt that the Lord of Calamity is making quick progress on his end. Edna may not have wanted to go on this journey in the first place, but it’s still her responsibility to fix her error nonetheless. The faster it’s over with, the sooner she can go find … She looks at the Celestial Record in her hands, at the sigil Sarah gave her, then sighs. ❝  All right, you don’t have to be so redundant with it. If you’re that worried, then you should just tag along.  ❞ After a beat, she peeks at Phoenix tied to her umbrella. Onii-chan … ❝  Shouldn’t a sister go help when her sister’s in need anyway?  ❞

Sarah shakes her head. Since being separated, she had not returned to Sasune in some time and with the recent attack... it had made it even more impossible. When all was said and done then maybe. "I am not sure myself. I had asked some of my men to travel there with letters for my sister before all this. They have only just returned before my kingdom was attacked." She's quiet for a moment wondering how to tell Edna of the severity. With clenched fists unbecoming of a princess she continues, "They say terrible tornados are tearing through the land and the winds are so strong that nothing is safe - let alone people. Even her kindly knight has fallen prey like my dear Warrior of Light had. Please, you must save them!"

She’s wondering who in their right mind would bestow two sister princesses with almost-near identical names to match, but that’s none of Edna’s business——though she’ll have to come up with some nicknames soon, urgently. ❝  Exactly how strong are the winds? One breeze can lift someone up? Or winds that are so strong, there are tornadoes?  ❞ Ugh, what a hassle … No matter what, it seems that her hair is fated to be disheveled.

She casts her gaze downwards, the momentary happiness she feels evaporating in an instant. "Oh, my sister..." The windy gates of Sasune... She can still feel the gusts blowing through her hair and how bright the world had seemed then. "You are welcome, by the way. I have heard from a few of my guards how Sasune has fallen victim to the winds. Please be careful. Although if the wind blows you away, I hope you find your way back here." Perhaps I could even travel with you then.

Accepting the bag of sweets being offered, she notices the hesitant look on Sarah's face. Meebo is waiting outside of the throne room, but Edna can afford some time to talk for a bit. ❝  Thanks. The next world we're going to is Sasune to see Princess Sara, so sweets will come in handy as a snack.  ❞

“Thank you, Eiko. I am glad I was able to see the two of them again!” And be with them...

She can't believe that, even here, they were reunited. And it wasn't just Eiko that she had reunited with - The Warrior of Light and Sir Garland, too. Even if the meeting was bittersweet, she was happy to see them again. She missed their presence deeply and wondered if there would ever be a time when the three of them could be together under happier circumstances. Though it seemed more of the same here, she was just happy to be with them again. And even with Eiko. Here they could talk about all kinds of things and Sarah could meet all of Eiko's friends and family. They could even take turns floofing Mog's fur - even if he would insist as Materia's trusty Moogle that he didn't need it, they could both tell he loved it.

“I'm glad we are able to see each other again, too! It is always so nice to see a familiar face in a foreign place. Maybe we can finally hold that concert I told you about!”
