This sounds like it was ghostwritten by Steve Rogers
Self care... to defeat the Nazis!
Sometimes an extrinsic cause can light the fire under you way better than concerns about personal well-being. Today we share, with permission, Teshale Nuer’s viral Facebook post on finding motivation for self care:
I am not a firm believer in self-care; the idea of ‘taking care of me’ isn’t a mental shortcut that I have ever found productive. But recently, in my constant quest to be the #BestVersionofMe™ I have added the suffix -to defeat the Nazis, to everything I do.
Tonight, I must get enough sleep, to have the energy -to defeat the Nazis. I must eat well, to keep my body healthy -to defeat the Nazis.   I must manage addictive processes, go to therapy, see the sunshine, smile at babies, give strangers directions,  foster positive interactions, repair burned bridges, take deep breaths, go to doctor’s appointments, donate my time, meditate, teach, be creative, make love etc etc.. all JUST to defeat the nazis.
I don’t know if this is a helpful tool for you, but for today and every day- every single thing you do, whether it is taking a vitamin or listening to a song, napping on the train or coming twice today- it can be and it MUST be an intentional movement towards overthrowing, dismantling and destroying every single fucking Nazi.
Remember, your existence is resistance.

Fun story- I only speak english, but my mom speaks both French and English. The only time I heard her speaking French growing up was when she talked to our cats. So when I speak to cats, it’s always in French because that’s what my mom did and also that’s literally the only French I know.
me when i see a cat: CAT! cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat

My roomate’s cat does the same thing, in the recliner that only the two people with adhd in the house use. She hasn’t been dumped but it is only a matter of time.
I have.  A new recliner chair. It’s very comfy. but I am worried.
Mochi. Has decided that the best place to sleep is between my feet on the footrest. and when I have my laptop open I tend to. forget that he’s there.
I am going to dump him onto the floor.
Maybe not tonight, maybe not tomorrow night but Eventually He will end up rudely dumped onto the floor,  like so much salad.

This is going to be my last post before I log off for the December 17th protest.
Tumblr media
In case you aren’t aware of what I’m talking about (even though I’ve reblogged about it a lot), basically a large amount of users are going to be participating in a protest against Tumblr’s new policies on the 17th by logging off the site, and not logging back on for a full 24 hours. As you can see in the image above, the protest will be taking place 12 am EST, but here’s the full list in regards to the exact times the protest is taking place in case you need it:
Tumblr media
Here’s what you can do to participate in the protest:
DO:
- Close all open instances you have of tumblr (closing all open tabs of tumblr on your browser and closing any instances you have of the app on your phone)
- Pause your queue or set it for a different time so nothing goes up on your blog during the protest.
- While you can (there’s only roughly 5 hours left- maybe less by the time you read this) make your followers aware of the protest and encourage them to participate, too. The more people we have participating the bigger the impact it will have.
- Be vocal and present on other social medias if you have them, and express how you’re participating in the Log Off protest/how you’re angry with Tumblr’s policies and actions on said social medias. This way it won’t just look like a drop off from social media, it’ll make it very clear to staff that we’re protesting because we’re angry with their new policy and their actions.
Tumblr media
DON’T:
- Open the tumblr app or open tumblr on your desktop during the protest.
- Continue to reblog/post during the protest, or have posts go up from your queue during the protest.
- Delete your account/blog. This won’t accomplish anything besides making it hard to come back after the protest is over.
Tumblr media
And because a lot of people have been curious about it: NO, STAFF AND THE PEOPLE WHO RUN TUMBLR AREN’T JUST GOING TO DELETE TUMBLR BECAUSE WE CHOSE TO LOG OFF FOR A DAY. Their main interest is money, and making a profit off the website. If they deleted the website, all possible profit they could have continued to make from it would be gone, and they’d lose millions, possibly billions of dollars. They wouldn’t do that. Trust me, they wouldn’t.
I’d also just like to add that, in case you couldn’t already infer, I will not be responding to any messages, answering any asks, reblogging, or posting on the 17th while the protest is underway.
Before I go, I’d just like to say in case I don’t end up coming back on Tumblr (if they refuse to revoke their policies I WILL be moving somewhere else. I’ll let you all know where in case I do):
Gentlemen, it’s been an honor being trash with you.
Tumblr media
See y’all on Tuesday.

“Self-care is often a very unbeautiful thing.
It is making a spreadsheet of your debt and enforcing a morning routine and cooking yourself healthy meals and no longer just running from your problems and calling the distraction a solution.
It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you don’t want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that you’re not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time and then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire and turn your phone off for the day.
A world in which self-care has to be such a trendy topic is a world that is sick. Self-care should not be something we resort to because we are so absolutely exhausted that we need some reprieve from our own relentless internal pressure.
True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.
And that often takes doing the thing you least want to do.
It often means looking your failures and disappointments square in the eye and re-strategizing. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. It is disappointing some people. It is making sacrifices for others. It is living a way that other people won’t, so maybe you can live in a way that other people can’t.
It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen and deciding your ultimate goal in life isn’t going to be having abs and keeping up with your fake friends. It is deciding how much of your anxiety comes from not actualizing your latent potential, and how much comes from the way you were being trained to think before you even knew what was happening.
If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness.
It is no longer using your hectic and unreasonable life as justification for self-sabotage in the form of liquor and procrastination. It is learning how to stop trying to “fix yourself” and start trying to take care of yourself… and maybe finding that taking care lovingly attends to a lot of the problems you were trying to fix in the first place.
It means being the hero of your life, not the victim. It means rewiring what you have until your everyday life isn’t something you need therapy to recover from. It is no longer choosing a life that looks good over a life that feels good. It is giving the hell up on some goals so you can care about others. It is being honest even if that means you aren’t universally liked. It is meeting your own needs so you aren’t anxious and dependent on other people.
It is becoming the person you know you want and are meant to be. Someone who knows that salt baths and chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life – not escape from it.”

Having anxiety, depression, and ADD/ADHD at the same time is like knowing you should be doing something but not having the (mental) energy to do any specific thing and then stressing out and feeling guilty for not doing something

More important info on type 2 diabetes:
if it isn’t managed, diabetes can cause all sorts of secondary effects that can legit fucking kill you. Type 2 diabetes can cause heart conditions, can cause kidney disease which can lead to hypertension, can seriously affect your eyesight (diabetic retinopathy), and can cause vascular disease, cutting off the blood flow to your limbs and requiring you to amputate your fingers, feet, and even legs. That’s why doctors so aggressively treat diabetes- while diabetes can’t kill you it’s secondary effects absolutely can. Plus, while insulin resistance can be reversed, the secondary effects of diabetes won’t be reversed as well.
We have a lot of drugs these days that directly treat your body’s insulin resistance (ie metformin) so it’s actually pretty rare for people with type 2 dm to need insulin shots. You can also start taking metformin before you have diabetes (ie prediabetic) and if you have certain conditions that can predispose you to having diabetes (like PCOS or gestational diabetes). If you are afab and your testosterone levels rise (for example, if you have Pcos or are transgender and taking hormone therapy) you are at a greater risk of developing diabetes.

so quick question, why does Haggar have to ability to mass produce clones of Shiro? The galra empire uses slaves for labor and robots for soldiers so there’s no reason they need the ability to mass-produce clones. Not that I think Haggar couldn’t figure out how to clone someone but why build such a huge, complex, and automated cloning facility for a project that is 1.) experimental and the clone factory is going to be a big waste of money if that project is unsuccessful, 2.) does not require hundreds of clones to achieve and 3.) can only work if the Voltron alliance does not find out that Kuron is a clone and having hundreds of spare clones lying around in a giant, difficult to conceal factory makes it harder to hide that.
There’s only two explanations i can think of for why Haggar would have that kind of tech lying around.
2.) Zarkon and Haggar are immortal and also quintessence fueled zombies so it’s unlikely either of them are capable of having a child (at least not a normal one- Lotor is pretty bad but he’s not, like, rosemary’s baby bad). So since they only have Lotor who is not immortal while they are they just keep cloning him over and over again. Lotor finding out that he’s actually the latest in a long line of Lotor clones is a pretty good reason why he’d start rebelling against his parents and trying to become immortal using the portal.
1.) The Champion is so popular Haggar opened a chain of massively successful bara maid cafes across the galaxy staffed exclusively by Shiro clones. Kuron escaping was a total accident but when he got picked up by Voltron Haggar just decided to roll with it.

Me: Not only do the scientist of the life foundation egregiously violate ethics with their symbiote research, they also show no concept of the scientific method, positive and negative controls, or even the obvious logical conclusion that a creature that has such difficulty finding suitable hosts must have some way of detecting suitable hosts otherwise they would have died out a long time ago. And this isn’t even touching on the mess that is symbiote biology in the movie...
Also me: I am an engineer and if I let my knowledge of science get in the way of me having a good time at the movies I literally couldn’t enjoy anything ever. So if you’re commenting on the fact that venom’s constant eating and mass- changing break the laws of physics and you’re not leading up to a “venom is constantly shitting offscreen” joke and instead suggesting that venom is somehow preforming cold fusion biologically without instantly nuking Eddie to death like a day old chipolte burrito I will dig up Eisenstein's corpse and beat you with it.

gentle reminder that if your meds aren’t working or therapy isn’t helping then you might just be on the wrong med or with the wrong therapist, not that therapy and meds don’t work. Different meds affect people in different ways and there are some really incompetent therapists out there.
