So I was sewing fingerless gloves the other day and this is going to sound dumb but while I was doing it I finally got a Radiohead lyric (or at least I made up my own interpretation that makes sense to me) *Faithless the Wonderboy* when Thom sings ‘Can’t put the needle in’ (they’ve said it’s not about drugs). Well, anyway, it continues the ‘old clothing’ motif and so basically the protagonist is trying to ‘fix’ his ‘jeans’ (as in trying to conform to our consumeristic society) but he can’t put the needle in to sew them because there isn’t anything to fix and instead of conforming he should be himself.
