hi there lovelies! today, i wanted to talk about my definition of age regression and talk about all angles of it. this is to hopefully help those who are unfamiliar with the topic and are interested in learning about it, whether it be so they can try it themselves, to better care for their littles, or to just have the knowledge of what it is and what it means to age regress. feel free to share this with others to help better educate!

what is age regression?

first of all, it is not sexual! this is a huge misunderstanding that a lot of people mischaracterize it with. in fact, it's typically a sfw practice and is also deemed a healthy coping mechanism for those with trauma, stress, or mental health conditions. you do not need to have trauma to age regress!

the act of age regression usually refers to the change in things such as behaviors, thoughts, and other characteristics as they revert to a more childlike state. this is something that can be voluntary or trigged involuntarily.

examples of these different characteristics can include: - physical gestures - mood, emotion and expression - different speech/tone of voice - a heightened interest for specific activities

everyone's age regression is different! not everyone exhibits the same patterns or behaviors as others may. some may feel one age, while others will feel another. some may have an interest for certain activities, while others may not.. it is usually a unique experience for everyone!

it's common for people to not know fully whether or not they technically age regress. with this, it's important to try and key note certain behaviors you may have, or any kind of significant shift.

how do i age regress?

along with general misunderstandings of what age regression means, there is also confusion on the how aspect. let's go through some misconceptions together!

you do not need a caregiver to regress. a lot of people think that it is required to have one, or that it's impossible to regress without one. truthfully, this is far from the case! sure, having a caregiver can enhance the experience for you, but it's important to learn your triggers and interests before having a caregiver. besides, there are numerous things you can do without one!

it takes practice and patience. another thing that discourages people from regressing is the fact that they may not fully feel like they have figured it out completely and quickly. it is normal to take time learning your triggers and interests, as well as learning when you realize you're in the headspace. don't down yourself if it doesn't feel right the first time! it can also feel silly or awkward sometimes, but if you find comfort in it and it makes you happy, overtime you will become more relaxed about it.

don't be ashamed! if it's helpful and fun, embrace it! i struggle with this still sometimes, but all in all it really isn't something you should feel negative about. social media can often influence these thoughts, but it's important that you don't let things like that dictate whether or not you enjoy regressing and how you go about it.

there are various ways you can experiment with regression, especially with the various kinds of activities you can choose from! there is no right or wrong way to regress, it's whatever feels right with you.

what can it look like?

regression can vary for everyone and within every time you go into that headspace!

it's normal for it to be messy. tantrums, screaming, crying, sadness, frustration... it's all apart of it! it's okay to let out these emotions while in your headspace.

it can be calm. tiring, sleepy, slow, quiet... sometimes, it's better to have a sleepy day. it can be relaxing, refreshing, and recharging!

it can be energetic. lots of running around, playing, activity... like you're practically bouncing off the walls!

there are many other ways to go about your regression! however, this is a short summary of 3 different views of it.

This is Melody Meadow, a part of imagination land ( I think ) where everything makes a tune of any sort. Pick one of the flowers and you’ll see that it makes a lovely song. I like to think that Joy and Sadness like to come here to go on a date occasionally, and they even eventually take Melancholy here and show her what those giant flowers can do :3

Edit: this also includes the stones in the river, which make hand pan/tongue drum noises when stepped on.

Concern headcanon

Whenever my Anxienn Fanchild, Concern senses danger, her hair starts to stand on end and flare up, and whenever she is extremely threatened, her hair strands tightly coil together and become sharp pointy quills just like that of a hedgehog or porcupine 🦔 and you definitely wouldn’t want to come too close to her when she’s all spiky because those spikes can hurt!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also predict that at some point in the film, the others realize that they will never find Love quick enough if they search as one whole group, So they decide to split up into smaller groups so that they can find him/her faster.

My prediction for IO3

So this takes place after the events of the second movie where both the old and new emotions are now peacefully coexisting, yes? Well, Now that Riley is a little older ( I’m guessing around 14 or 15 now ) and things become more complicated when she starts having feelings for someone in her school ( maybe? ) That’s when newer Emotions like Love appear in headquarters and starts to make a bit more intense. Additionally, Other emotions such as Hope and Curiosity also appear ( since people tend to get more hopeful and curious when they fall in love. ) The other emotions who were already there are taken aback at first, but quickly come to welcoming them to the pack. Things go rather smoothly at first until they become more awkward and intense. Love is ultimately sucked out of headquarters after the whole ordeal ( either by accident or he/she does it intentionally as a result of feeling ashamed ) and the other emotions decide to take the risk of leaving headquarters to go search for Love in the mind, except for Hope and Curiosity who decide to stay to keep an eye on Riley while the others go to find love and bring him or her back home as soon as possible.

I predict that this third movie will focus on falling in love and how big of a step it is in a person’s life, as well as how to deal with this big step. This third film is still In early development ( at least according to a post on twitter ) and a release date is to be announced ( I’m predicting sometime in the early 2030s ).
