What are your reflections about the whole educational tour? Focus on your learnings and insights.
I have learned that I have chosen one of the best courses that this generation could offer, which is Information Technology. Technology is indeed speeding high in the 21st century and the world has so many opportunities that they could offer to us. The field of IT is broad, which means that we could work with almost anything, anywhere. Since technology is often used nowadays in almost every company, agency, factory, business, etc., we certainly have no excuse that we would remain jobless in the future.
All it takes is hardwork, faith, determination, and confidence in one’s self and in God.
This ends my “Tita Chronicles: From Iloilo to Cebu.” I hope that you enjoyed reading! :)

What aspects of the educational tour could be improved? Other comments?
I think that the College and the Travel Agency should work hand in hand in order to achieve the goal of the educational tour, which is to open the eyes of the CICT students to fields and work opportunities relating to their course. It would be better to maximize the time to visit more huge companies, or perhaps even just a tour in the IT Park, which our batch was not able to do so.

Logistical Support and Arrangements
Rating scale: 1 = LOW, 3 = MEDIUM, 5 = HIGH
1. Support from Travel and Tour company - 5
The Sanera Travel and Tours were very accommodating, friendly, and open towards us. I never had any experience wherein I was troubled by their service.
2. Accommodation - 3
The hotel was a bit off, considering the sketchy elevators, the malfunctioning doorbells, and we were not able to utilize some facilities. However, the staff were okay and well-mannered.
3. Food - 5
Need I say more?
4. Companies Visited - 2
I was expecting a lot more big IT companies to be visited, but it turns out we only went to one. The rest were not as relevant to our course.
5. Co-participants - 5
I was able to make new friends from other classes and the tour made it possible to create an opportunity to bond with other people.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
Date and time of visit: February 10, 2017, 2:30 PM
Company address: Mactan, Cebu
Technology Used/Best Practices: Various devices for weather prediction
What I have learned from this company: It takes a tremendous amount of effort and money to get the prediction for the weather. However, it is a great leap for mankind when it comes to the field of Science and Technology. If you travel back in time, who would have thought that a balloon could be able to tell us if today is going to be a rainy day or not?
Reflection on the relevance of my learning to my course/future career: Software Development skills could be used in this agency.

Worldtech Information Solutions, Inc.
Date and time of visit: February 10, 2017, 8:30 AM
Company address: Cebu City, Cebu
Technology Used/Best Practices: IT and Internet Security
What I have learned from this company: It is always best to secure your data and accounts. We must never rely on the thought that we are safe, so we must always keep in mind to be careful with the things we share especially on cloud storage.
Reflection on the relevance of my learning to my course/future career: I could relate this seminar to one of my subjects, IT and Internet Security, which tackles a somewhat similar approach to security.

What I have learned from this company: Technology should be updated from time to time. It is a learning process, and it should never be deprived of improvements.
Reflection on the relevance of my learning to my course/future career: This is relevant in such a way that we could be inspired more to pursue a career in Multimedia, specifically in the areas of animation and digital arts.

Lexmark Research and Development Corporation
Date and time of visit: February 9. 2017, 8:00 AM
Company address: Lexmark Plaza 1, Samar Loop Corner Panay Road, Panay Rd, Cebu City, Philippines
Technology Used/Best Practices: Manufcaturing of printers
What I have learned from this company: The manufacturing of printers is not an easy process. It undergoes several steps, some we never even imagined to be relevant in the first place. After the tour in this company, I have realized that in order to achieve good quality products, one must pass several tests before it could be released to the public.
Reflection on the relevance of my learning to my course/future career: The field of Information Technology is broad. It ca stretch from Software Development to Electronics Engineering, which is why we, students, must choose on what major or path we should take as IT professionals in the making.

Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod
The Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod is the first structure in the SM Seaside Complex, echoing a practice during Spanish times when towns would be built around a church. More recently, the Shrine of Jesus the Way the Truth and the Life, was also the first structure in the now bustling Mall of Asia Complex when it was blessed in 1999.
The Chapel was donated by Henry Sy, Sr. and Felicidad Sy to the Archdiocese of Cebu, and is dedicated to San Pedro Calungsod, the first Visayan saint, who is considered a role model for the youth. Martyred in Guam for his missionary work in 1672, he was beatified by Blessed Pope John Paul II on March 5, 2000. San Pedro Calungsod was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI at Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City last Oct. 21.
Designed by US-based architect Carlos Arnaiz, the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod sits on an elevated 5,001 square meter lot within the SM Seaside Complex. It can accommodate up to 803 people.

Here’s a fact about Tita Carmela: After nineteen years of existence with thirteen years of studying history, our Tita, all this time, was under the impression that the Magellan’s Cross was built on a tower, and that you would have to climb up a flight of stairs in order to see the Cross. You could imagine the #shooktd look on her face when she discovered that she was wrong, and that the monument actually stood on solid ground.

Magellan’s Cross
Magellan’s Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines March 15 , 1521.
This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street (Magalhaes is the Portuguese name of Magellan), just in front of the city center of Cebu City. A sign below the cross describes the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross that is found in the center of the chapel. This is to protect the original cross from people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir purposes or in the belief that the cross possesses miraculous powers
