A Sequel to Quick Snacks ✨

Any other day, Hoku would have ignored Eclipse's direct flirtations.  

However, Eclipse had stumbled upon a vital piece of information when he passed by Hoku who was talking with her friend that visited momentarily for a meal this afternoon. Something about liking guys with glasses before Hoku frantically shushed her, a pink hue settling upon her ears. “Stop it! He's gonna hear-” A little late for that. He passed by again, feigning innocence as he picked up the leftover dishes of an elderly couple who had sat near them. “Aw but your fave character was really cute in that one poster with the glasses collab, right?”, she whispered, loud enough for him to hear.

Seems he’d been caught but he paid it no mind, sparing a cheeky wink at the friend and a shushing motion as well. A slight nod was her reply before he went back to the kitchen to wash the dishes. At that time, Hoku huffed indignantly while setting her meal down, then scuttled to and fro, catering to the other customers. 

Hm. He could work with this somehow….

Tomorrow Morning

Hoku came into work early to help with prep when she stopped dead in her tracks. What. In. The. World. Her eyes then zeroed in on a particular set of glasses perched upon Eclipse’s nose. “WHY?”, Hoku helplessly thought, raking in the sight before her unconsciously. He looked unfairly good in those... The robot continued drying down tables nonchalantly when he heard the bell chime, signaling someone's entrance. Looking up, his optics brightened, happy to see Hoku but it quickly turned into confusion when he saw that she had become frozen. 

So it was true? Interesting. 

Donning his usual charming smile, he sauntered over to greet her casually. “Hello, creampuff.” If she could become redder a shade, she would but alas, her skin could only go so far as apple red. How adorable. “D-don’t call me that so early in the morning!”, she hissed, metaphorical cat ears appearing as her stance turned taut and alarmed, threatened by his appearance. Though, she didn't break eye contact. So, so amusing. 

He leaned down a bit so she could admire the glasses better. Her eyes practically sparkled with wonder though her posture was still defensive. “That's not an appropriate reply, dumpling. Want to try again?”, he teased, tilting his head while his eyes upturned happily. Inhaling a deep breath, she quickly took hold of his face and stared deep into his eyes. “Take. It. Off.” Now, that’s new! 

“...My clothes or the glasses, hm?” Her fingertips dug into his faceplate a tad harder, her heartbeat erratic and mouth going dry. “...depends.”, she murmured, glancing down at his lips momentarily before flicking back to his optics. Oh. Well then. Ahem. “Unless you want me to do it?”, Hoku smirked. He fluttered his eyelashes, perplexed by the sudden confidence. She seldom reciprocated after all. 

“If it only took glasses, I would've done this a long time ago.”, he quipped, putting his own big hands over her smaller ones. “Pfft, sure hotshot.”, she leans upwards to kiss him softly and quickly. “Now, c'mon. We have work to do and I don't want to keep my dessert waiting after hours.”, she giggled, eyes slanting in a mischievous expression before walking over to the kitchen to greet Sun and Moon as if nothing happened. 

Eclipse was left standing with a giant dopey grin, eagerly counting the minutes. It's about high time, he himself had a little perspective change…

gonna yap a bit about the happy little accidents in this drawing under the cut

so like

i didn't plan any of this but

Moondrop and Sundrop are posed as a pair—side by side, with almost mirrored postures, their silhouettes almost perfectly accommodating each other. their glasses pair so well together too! they're both framed along the bottom, but Moon's are rectangular and Sun's are elliptical—referencing each other's shape language. Moon is more rounded and Sun is more boxy. this really emphasizes how in-sync the two of them are and how they complement each other.

in the little details you can pick out their personalities. Moon is gently pushing up his glasses—aware and cautious of his strength. while his other hand rests on his hip, safely anchored away from scratching himself or others. meanwhile, Sun adjusts his glasses with a precise hold—showing his need for control. his other hand is behind his back and he's positioned behind Moon—a subtle reference to his insecurities of having an older body and how he tries to hide it away in order to not trigger Moon but also to keep pushing his body to his limits in order to keep up with Moon and Clip.

then you have Clip, who has thick rims all around with silly accessories that cover more of his face. this all hints to how he puts his silliness up front and centre, but hides his vulnerability. it's also clear from his position behind everyone else. as silly and energetic as he is, he hides himself away. he is hard to get to know genuinely—but it's not impossible (it's just gonna take us a couple arcs to get there)

and Comet has perfectly round glasses (maybe inspired by the fact that I have round glasses haha). circles are friendly shapes, and as a Y/N, Comet is able to make friends with the wackiest of robots. however, perfect circles also suggest perfection. Comet puts a lot of pressure on themself to be something more than themself—an abstract perfection that is impossible to attain. the glasses are a touch too big for them, yet they hold their glasses up with both hands, desperate for control, desperate to make it work, desperate to fit an expectation they've set for themself that is ever out of reach.

extra fun fact: they are also in order of their arcs 😂 Arc 1 is about Moon, Arc 2 is about Sun, Arc 3 is about Clip, and Arc 4 is about Comet

i've had the idea of drawing the DCA with glasses before, but i could never find a good reason for a robot to have glasses

now i do

but i also lowkey like the idea of waiter Eclipse needing glasses? like he is an older bot, so it could be explained that his optics aren't as fine-tuned as chef Sun and Moon's, who are newer in this AU.

but i'm pretty sure robot optics don't work the way human eyes do, so glasses wouldn't actually help him see better?? pls someone who knows more about robots and humans confirm

hi all! thanks for all the love and encouragement on my previous post (2 months ago! wowza)

as you can tell, i've been away! work got really busy and with what little free time i had, i've been going through some life planning and transitions. so not a lot of time to draw, and even less time to write (writing just takes so much more time 🫠)

but! i've been trying to draw a little each day recently just to give myself a little refresh each day. so i'll be sharing some doodles here and there!

hi all, sorry for being MIA

work got busy then i got sick

then after 2 weeks of not drawing or writing, i got into a creative block

and now i've been dealing with some real life things that's been taking up all my limited focus

but aside from some lightheadedness and being unable to focus, i'm doing okay. i'm living and breathing and eating and resting.

i just need to take some time for myself to figure out some real life things

gosh i loved the little journey of Moon being made and Eclipse wanting to help. ough big brother Eclipse will hold you gently and tie your ribbons and use a really large cutter to perform surgery to free you from your paper prison

aND MOON RUNNING OFF AND ENJOYING LIFE OUGH his excitement for life and climbing tall objects fills me with joy

and then they help with dinner AND the laundry!! ough sweet boys

This is my first try at doing paper stuff after YEARS and I'm really happy with him!

We ended up making dinner together (btw, are you doing the HYE boys? Like NDSY Clip? I'm in love with your AU's! <3)

He's even keeping me company while studying for my uni exam!

Thank you for making the paper dolls! The instructions were easy to follow and it's such a fun project, the breaks between steps made the process very relaxing, thank you again!!!
