Exploring the Craft Beer Universe
14 posts
Welcome to our blog we are here to discuss craft beers specifically those brewed in or around the Mid-Atlantic area. But as our title implies there are no boundaries to where we will go or what we will try.

I had the fantastic opportunity of spending time with Carol Stoudt again yesterday!  She is such an inspiration to all women in craft beer. She founded Stoudts Brewing Company in Adamstown PA 30 years ago.  She is known as the Queen of Hops and one of the first women in beer. @berksgpo

Great Lakes Blackout Stout-
Style: Russian Imperial Stout (RIS)   ABV: 9%   IBU: 50
This beer is very smooth. It has a nice dark color with a thin head. It is dark and roasty with chocolate notes. It’s name comes from the Blackout in 2003 that left  the northeast United States in darkness.

National Beer Day
Beer History:  On April 7, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer, in the United States, as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume (ABV).  Beer drinkers celebrated and were happy to be able to purchase beer again for the first time in thirteen years. Of course I don’t know that I have ever had a beer below 4% ABV
