#Rape#Abortion (I’m Sorry if i trigger anyone who has been through this).

Hi guys. A few good friends here have encouraged me to write this post. I am in a state of desperation. In March I was raped in my apartment by a guy I thought was a friend. He is currently in the county jail now, but its been a lot that I have gone through. About 8 weeks later from the incident, I found out that I am pregnant by him. I am trying to get an abortion and I have literally exhausted all funding i can get because the procedure is expensive and I am over 12 weeks already. I am now short of $350. My appointment to get the abortion done is on Monday (June 24) and thats why I’m sooo super desperate. Just realized i never updated on my dads reaction to his cabin quilt! He almost cried! I almost cried! Lots of jokes about the amount of time blood sweat and tears that went into this thing! Many years, 2 almost all nighters, bruised knees from crawling around on the floor trying to get it laid out JUST right, dozens of cuts and bloody pin pricks, tears of frustration, tears of relief when it was finally finished, more tears of frustration after running it through the wash and half of the binding came undone, and then more tears of relief and happiness when it was done and wrapped and in his hands! Everyone said i won christmas by giving the best gift! Everyone was in awe and disbelief that i had done it all on my own, followed by requests for their own haha so over all it was the best and my daddy loves it!

The cabin quilt is officially done, wrapped, and put under the tree!!! I finished with exactly 6 minutes till Christmas! Haha I cant wait for my dad to open it tomorrow!!!!! Im honestly so much more excited about seeing him open it than i am about anything i may have gotten! And thats honestly the best feeling! I cant wait!

Im stressed. I have too much on plate and no time to get any of it done. Broke down crying at work last night because the kids just WOULD. NOT. LEAVE. ME. ALONE. And everything was going wrong. And i was shaking. And dropping stuff. And kids were yelling. And the custodian was being a major jerk. And i just couldnt deal.

Took the morning off from the office so i can get some stuff done. 2 loads of laundry. Changed my curtains. Organized some stuff. Tossed a bunch.

Alys quilt isnt going to be done by Christmas and im trying to be ok with that. Dads quilt takes priority.

Had plans to make all my coworkers little make up bags. Ended up just making them all scarves instead since they are super quick and simple.

We are having our holiday party at work for the kids (and a private gift exchange for the team leaders) so i have to go in for that. Otherwise i would have called out there as well.

I have a little less on my plate now and that makes me feel a bit better but im still super stressed and just feel so blah to all this christmas junk.

I just want to be done. But tomorrow night we are exchanging gifts with matt and his brother and sister in law and baby. Still have to wrap/find all their stuff tonight and put it in my car. Gotta clean the downstairs tonight after work. Finish dads quilt. Wrap the rest of the presents.

After roughly 12 hours of near non stop working, i finally finished the top!!! It is beyond adorable and theres no super obvious flaws! I think.... haha i think i will name it the " Scrappy Diamond". Its not really made from scraps obviously but i had seen a scrappy quilt that had got my juices flowing and convinced me to make it. now just gotta finish the cabin quilt and then i can try to bust the rest of it out! But for tonight, bed. Im exhausted and my back hurts from being hunched over the ironing board and sewing machine all day haha

All 21 strips are DONE!!! now i just gotta press my seams and start sewing them together!!! Im so excited! I had them laid out as i went to make sure i wasnt gucking up somewhere but moved them to get ready to iron them. Im HOPING to be done with the top tonight!

9 days till christmas and i JUST started a quilt for matts niece.. im insane... been working on it since about 10 this morning. Got all the pieces cut and then realised the pattern i wanted wouldnt work with the amount of fabric i had so i had to come up with a new pattern with the strips i made. Took about 3 or 4 hours to get it planned and laid out cause i kept getting confused. Then i misplaced ONE piece and just about had a heart attack! I had finally resigned to the fact that my pattern wouldnt be perfect. FINALLY started actually sewing about a half hour ago and have already finished 4 out of 21. Went to start on the 5th and found the missing piece!!!! I was soooo relieved!! Now its back to the machine i go to bust out as many of these strips as possible before me and mom go out to dinner.

Heres a pic of it waiting to be basted together. I worried about trimming the batting down at least a smidge but then when i was trying to baste it together, i had a fantastic idea for the edges that is going to use up some of the batting there and idk how to explain it so i will just post pics of it as i go haha i love this!!

Cabin Quilt

About 3 years ago i started a quilt for my dad for christmas. Got the entire top pieced together and then ran out of time/money to finish it. So i put it in a box, wrapped it, and told him i would finish it soon and had him leave it with me after christmas. Well, ever since then its been sitting in a bag in my closet. About a year and a half ago i finally went and got the batting and the fabric for the backing. It went straight into my closet.

See, Im no longer friends with the girl who was letting me use her sewing machine. I would come over for about 3 or 4 hours before work each day (we worked part time at the same place) and would work on it until one of us had to go to work. Then i didnt have the money to finish buying the materials i needed and by the time i did, she didn’t live near by and then we both left for different jobs. I wasnt able to use her sewing machine and didnt really enjoy hanging out with her as much so i felt uncomfortable asking her if i could come over and use it.

A few weeks ago we FINALLY got a new sewing machine that works like a dream!! So for the past 3 or so hours, i have been ironing and getting it prepped to finally be finished!

The new machine isnt a quilting machine so i cant just quilt it together on there, so im going to tie it like an old fashioned quilt. Which fits it perfectly! Its all browns and greens with deer and moose and bears and fish and cabin prints and im absolutely in love with it! If i was making it for myself i would totally redecorate my entire room to the theme of this quilt! It just looks so cozy and reminds me of camping with my dad and the cabins we would stay in sometimes!

I cant wait to finish it! All thats left is to finish basting it and then tieing it and doing the binding! Im so freaking excited! And every time i see it i just think “wow! I did that!!! I made this entire blanket! And its beautiful!!!” Im beyond excited to see it finally finished and used!!
