I am constantly hurt by the callousness with which people dismiss the harm of restricting adult content and porn, only concerned about the knock-on effects for queer people and radical political groups. Sex workers ourselves matter just as much as non sex working queer people and leftists.

We are not canaries in the coal mine whose deaths you can dismiss while you frame groups you actually care about as the sole human casualties of these policies. I need you to care that laws like the Online Safety Act lead sex workers to have to return to abusive third parties to find clients or to work in brothels we hate or to such poverty that we starve. I need you to care about payment processors refusing to pay out for adult content because it means sex workers cannot rely on online work when selling sex in-person becomes too much for our bodies or too risky.

Please care about sex workers' suffering, rather than only the fact your favourite queer game was de-listed from itch.io and that you have to use a VPN to access adult subreddits without giving your ID now.

oh absolutely not an ED thing i would never make a url about that 😭, i got the url idea from this t shirt . it's a joke about the horror movie the exorcist. the t shirt just replaces the movie title with 'the throw up girl'. the joke is that famously in this movie there is a scene where the little girl regan (while possessed by a demon) projectile vomits on the priests that are trying to exorcise the demon. its really gross.

my wider throwupgirl theory of media is that when it comes to writing women one of the things holding a lot of writers back is that they dont just let girls be gross because of their preoccupation with always making women beautiful or sexy or whatever. even when trying to write stories where women are Empowered and complex characters i still have this disconnect where they're still always Hollywood Beautiful. so i think most movies and tv shows would be greatly improved if the women in them were allowed to be really gross sometimes. so im like. movies and television really really need to have some Throw Up Girls.

definition of Throw Up Girl: girl who has been depicted in any form of media having a disgusting moment. must either be significant to her character (as in constantly happening to her) or at least part of significant scene in the media she appears in.

it doesnt necessarily Have to involve throwing up exactly. it just needs to be a scenario where she looks or does something gross + being covered in blood/spilling food or a drink on herself does NOT count.

three examples of Throw Up Girls and how they can vary (all 3 are girls who have literally thrown up on camera but i think its easy to see how u can apply to other gross things)

- regan macneil from the exorcist (purist definition, gross as hell). spends a good chunk of the movie basically having her entire face rot and of course pukes all over the place.

- marta cabrera from knives out (constantly happening to her, moderate definition). has a disorder where every time she lies she throws up. i often think of and can relate to the scene where she quickly lies to the detective and then turns around and discreetly pukes into a coffee cup.

- aubrey posen from pitch perfect (only happens in two scenes, looser by frequency). she doesnt do this often and for most of the movie presents herself as a very put together pretty girl. but there are exactly two scenes in the movie where she projectile pukes incredibly violently all over the people surrounding her. great stuff love her.
