Never kissed before
The evening is peaceful, the soft hum of music floating through the kitchen as Zoey’s playlist plays in the background. The lights overhead cast a warm glow across the room, and the air feels light with the quiet of the night. Zoey had set the playlist earlier, intending to help her focus, said the studio was driving her insane, the blank pages of her notebook mocking her. So, she moved into the kitchen. But now the music lingers, a delicate presence in the air.
Zoey has long retreated back to the studio, leaving the soft melodies behind, and Mira and Rumi sit on the couch, tucked beneath a shared blanket. They’ve been watching a recording of their earlier rehearsal, but Mira, ever the perfectionist, has shifted their attention to something else—a concert performance by another group. She points animatedly at the screen, her eyes bright and excited as she talks about the way the performer moves. Pointing out the acting during a particular number. This is a rare look for her, unguarded and openly excited. Rumi savours moments like these.
The concert is a good blend of dancing and performing. Mira points and speaks and gesticulates and Rumi nods along. She’s following along but this is not the part of the process she has much input on. Except for, “yearning?”
Mira nods, entirely too serious when she says, “yes, you can see it in his eyes.”
Rumi shoots her a look then turns back to the screen. She tilts her head, unsure. Rumi watches the performer, then turns back to Mira. “Yearning?” She rubs the back of her neck, thoughtful. “I see focus. Intensity, maybe. But yearning? I don’t know.”
“Aw, come on,” Mira huffs and moves closer, bumping their shoulders. The touch sending a small jolt through Rumi. She rewinds and pauses, reaching to drink from her glass. A light and fruity drink Zoey had brought over for her. She points at the screen, “look at his expression, look at how he’s reaching forward, the way he’s slightly hunched, it’s written all over him. There’s so much longing in his eyes,” Mira says, voice full of passion. “You can see it in the way he moves—this pull, this craving. It’s like he's holding back just to create that tension before the kiss.”
Rumi chuckles, shaking her head. “I’ll take your word for it, then.”
Mira rolls her eyes, but there’s an easy smile on her lips, a small glint of affection. She’s only mildly annoyed. “The whole song is about the feeling before a kiss. Trust me. It’s there. The whole song is about that moment before a kiss—the waiting, the wanting, tension and exhilaration—can see it in how he shifts, how he leans in, the craving. You can see all of that even in the way he carries himself, he’s acting as much as he’s dancing. There’s yearning and passion- don’t laugh!”
But they both do. They’re tired. It’s been a long day today. Her hand drifts over to Rumi’s knee, a casual touch that lingers just a little too long, sending warmth up Rumi’s leg. The gesture is simple, but Rumi can feel the weight of it, her heart fluttering in response.
The music from the kitchen changes then, becoming slower, softer, as if matching the change in the air between them. Rumi finds herself struggling to focus on the conversation, her mind distracted by Mira's presence, by the way her fingers idly trace the rim of her glass. Rumi shrugs. “I understand what you’re saying, I just don’t see it.”
“How?” Mira question, perplexed. She likes the performer, has been a fan for a long time.
Rumi briefly wonders if maybe she sees more than there is. She brushes that thought off quickly. Mira has too good of an eye for that. If Mira says it’s there, Rumi believes her. “I’ve never kissed anyone, maybe that’s why.”
Mira’s eyebrows shoot up. “Never?” She asks, her tone light but curious.
“No,” Rumi shakes her head and reaches for her own drink. Minty and refreshing. “Never.”
Mira looks at her, eyes widening in disbelief. “Seriously? Never?”
Rumi nods, her stomach flipping at the question. She can feel Mira's gaze on her, lingering and thoughtful. “Seriously.”
There’s a long pause, and Rumi feels a shift in the air, a subtle change in the way Mira is looking at her. It’s not quite playful anymore, but something deeper—something softer.
“Do you want to?” Mira asks, her voice low, almost a whisper.
Rumi chuckles, “in general? Yeah, I’d like to do that at some point.”
Mira huffs an amused laugh, “I meant, would you like to right now?”
Rumi’s heart races. She doesn’t know if it’s the question itself or the way Mira’s voice seems to linger in the space between them, but her entire body feels suddenly alert. She opens her mouth to respond, but her words catch in her throat.
She clears her throat. “Are you offering to kiss me?” Rumi asks, her voice barely a breath.
“Yes, Rumi,” Mira laughs and it’s so soft and light, it makes Rumi’s heart flutter. Something warm blooms behind her ribs. “I’m offering to kiss you. If you want that?”
Rumi looks at her for a long moment. Mira reaches over for her glass again, the motion nonchalant. Rumi’s eyes fixate on how her lips press against the rim. She feels a blush dusting her cheeks. Mira raises an eyebrow, waiting for a response.
Rumi’s pulse quickens. Her mind is spinning, her heart beating so loudly she’s sure Mira can hear it. She glances at Mira, who’s waiting, expectant. The tension between them is so thick now, it feels as though it might swallow her whole.
Rumi can’t bring herself to speak. She nods instead, just a slight movement of her head, but it feels like the world shifts in that moment.
Mira’s lips curl into a soft, teasing smirk, but there’s something else behind it, something sincere, almost vulnerable. She doesn’t move.
A beat later, Rumi stutters out a response, “yeah, okay, yes, I’d like that,” her voice breathless.
Mira’s smile deepens, her eyes softening. She sets her glass aside with a quiet clink, and then, slowly, she inches closer. The movement is deliberate, measured, as if she’s giving Rumi the time to pull away if she needs to. But Rumi doesn’t move, doesn’t pull back. She leans in just slightly, and Mira mirrors her.
The space between them is small now, their knees brushing together, their faces just inches apart. Mira reaches up with a slow, careful hand, her fingers lightly brushing the back Rumi’s neck. The touch is gentle, but it sends a shiver down Rumi’s spine. Skin buzzing at the contact.
Mira leans in, the smallest little bit. “Are you sure?” The question is whispered into the small space between them.
Rumi swallows thickly, her heart pounding in her chest. She nods, her breath catching as she looks at Mira. “I’m sure.”
Mira’s smile shifts then into something knowing and in that moment, Rumi feels the world tilt. “Okay, good.” And then, slowly, Mira closes the gap between them, her lips meeting Rumi’s with a tenderness that takes Rumi completely by surprise. She’s so gentle and it’s nothing like Rumi would have imagined kissing Mira would be like.
Not that she had imagined it before. Not until now, when about a dozen different images flashed through her mind in the second it took for Mira’s lips to meet her own. The kiss is gentle. Slow. Mira’s hand glides to the side of Rumi’s face. She strokes her thumb across her cheek. Rumi sighs into it and she can feel Mira’s lips uptick into a smile against her own.
Rumi melts.
When Mira pulls back, it’s over far too quickly and before Rumi can spare it a conscious thought she’s chasing after her. She hears a small noise of surprise from Mira when their lips meet again. Rumi has half a mind to pull away and apologise, but then Mira’s other hand finds her thing and all of Rumi’s thoughts evaporate. Mira leans in, her hand pressing more firmly into Rumi’s leg as she does.
The kiss is slow, soft, almost tentative at first. Rumi can feel the warmth of Mira’s lips, the faint taste of fruit and mint mixing, still lingering from their drinks.
Everything around them fades as the kiss deepens, just slightly, the softness turning into something more. Rumi's chest tightens, a flutter of nerves and excitement blooming in her stomach.
Mira’s hand slides to the back of Rumi’s neck again, her fingers brushing against the skin there, sending a small wave of heat through Rumi’s body. Every part of her feels alive with the contact—alive with the way Mira’s lips move against hers, so slow and deliberate, as though they have all the time in the world.
Rumi’s breath hitches as Mira pulls her in a little closer, her lips parting just enough for Rumi to feel the soft press of her tongue against the edge of her mouth. It’s gentle, almost hesitant, and Rumi’s mind spins, her senses overwhelmed by the feel of Mira—warm, soft, and close. The kiss deepens again, slow and languid, each movement drawing them in further, until Rumi feels like she’s losing herself to it. Her whole world narrowing to just the feel of Mira’s lips, her breath, the soft pressure of her body against hers.
This is more like she’d imagined kissing Mira would be like.
Every kiss is a pull and push, like an endless exchange that makes Rumi’s heart race. The heat between them builds, but it’s not rushed, not frantic. It’s the quiet intensity of something new, something raw. Rumi lets herself feel it, lets herself be consumed by the warmth of it. Mira’s thumb brushes gently over her jaw, the tender caress making Rumi sigh against her lips, a sound that seems to fuel the kiss, makes Mira lean in a little closer.
Mira’s lips move and Rumi chases after her, allowing Mira to guide hers apart. She feels every shift as Mira’s lips close again around her bottom one. This time Mira leans a little closer, she has more of Rumi’s mouth against her lips, and she kisses her deeper. It sends sparks straight to Rumi’s lap.
She feels Mira pull her in closer still. Impossibly close and yet not close enough. Mira kisses her just a little bit deeper. And Rumi lets her. Welcomes it. Every movement her lips make against Rumi’s is met with an encouraging one of her own. Every shift, every touch, every time their lips part and connect again, all of it etches itself into Rumi’s increasingly shallow breaths.
The kiss slows.
Mira’s lips part one final time for one final kiss. She leans back, eyes scanning Rumi’s.
Rumi struggles to catch her breath, chest tight, her heart hammering. She’s left with a longing that pulses in her veins, like a hunger she hadn’t known existed until now.
Mira’s gaze meets hers, a small, teasing smile dancing on her lips. “Was that good?” she asks, her voice soft and playful.
Rumi can barely find the words. Her breath is shallow, her pulse still racing. “Yeah,” she whispers, her voice breathless. “That was... good.” She flushes, adds a quiet, “thanks.” All of her is buzzing.
“No problem,” Mira chuckles softly, her smile warm, before she shifts back further, leaving the space between them colder than it was before. “Next time,” Mira raises her hands and wiggles her fingers, “don’t forget you’re allowed, and encouraged, to touch.”
The blush on Rumi’s cheeks burns as she nods. “Noted.” She can’t look at her when Mira laughs again.
It feels as though she’s been kissed awake, like the kiss has unraveled something deep inside her, and now, every part of her hums with the soft, persistent ache of wanting more.
This time, when Mira points back to the screen, Rumi sees what she means.

I've noticed that in the Kpdh fandom Rumi is Polytrix's certified night light, or glow stick as I've seen on other posts. Night light sounds better for me between the two tbh. Much more tasteful. Anyways, I'm not sure if this exact hc has been done yet so here goes...
Picture it. It's the middle of the night. Their apartment is super dark, but even in the midst of sleep... Nature calls. Zoey wakes up poor Rumi and makes her accompany Zoey to the bathroom
Alternatively, it would be Mira waking up to use the bathroom. But unlike Zoey, Mira doesn't disturb Rumi's sleep. But~ once Mira leaves the bathroom, she gets the shit scared out of her because a sleepy/grumpy/pouty/displeased Rumi was literally waiting for her outside. And Rumi would sleep grumble like, "Whe wer u?"
Mira: I had to pee
Rumi: *Hums in acknowledgement* Done?
Mira: ....Yes.
Rumi: Goo. Bed. Now.
Another scenario I see would be that it's late in the evening, but Mira and Zoey aren't quite tired yet and so Mira reads a book or a magazine to pass the time while Zoey decides to write more lyrics in her notebook. They could turn on their bedside lamps to do their nightly pastimes, but the girls decide to go with a comfortable light source, Rumi, who's already fast asleep. I imagine Rumi always has a set sleep schedule. Whether she wants to or not. Make sense to me because she's a workaholic and rarely gets to relax anyway. Mira and Zoey, on the other hand, I see them being night owls
Ultimate scenario: City power outage
*Mira and Zoey scream out for Rumi from different parts of their apartment*
Rumi: *Sighs fondly*
A night light's job is never done lol
Oh, l almost forgot about this tid bit! Just like how Rumi accidentally scared the shit out of Mira by just being there, I pretty much imagine the same thing too with Derpy sometimes
Just saying. Derpy may be an adorably cute demon tiger, but I quite imagine him being unintentionally scary too sometimes. I think it'd be rather scary just seeing Derpy in a dark part of the room, in the middle of the night and he's just... Staring into nothingness with that derp look/smile on his face. Add the slow ass blink, and it will probably be even more scary/creepy (to me)
My gf mentioned that she also sees Derpy being a night light too for the girls. And while I do agree with that thought, I also see him not being around all the time since he is a big cat and he likes to roam about. So Mira and Zoey settle for their Rumi. Though, sometimes, when Rumi genuinely does want her alone time she'd look at Derpy and be like, "We can switch, right?"
That's about it for this hc ramble. These are probably not too interesting, but I came up with these hc scenarios because they amuse me and they were fun to write. Polytrix fluff means everything to me, humor too 😌

Evening With My Family
Tags: Kpdh, Polytrix, Domestic Fluff, Zoey being Zoey, Rumi looking gorgeous, Mira loves her family, and Derpy and Sussy shenanigans
It was a normal evening like any other. Well, for them at least. Huntrix is on break from their latest tour. There were no signs of demons across the city. Everything was peaceful.
It was a nice change for Mira, who sat on the couch while she surf the internet on her phone. TV show forgotten. Might as well since there wasn't anything good.
And so the girls ultimately decided to have a movie night. Which movie—Mira does not know nor care. So long as she spend time with her girls, anything was fine by her. Speaking of her girls...
Mira finally looks up from her screen. Zoey has yet to return. And Mira already knows that Rumi was in the kitchen preparing dinner. But where did Zoey go?
Mira did a quick look of their living space. Lo and behold, Zoey was sitting on the island. Her head resting on her folded arms, her eyes fixated on Rumi's form as she cooked dinner. The lead singer has yet to notice her secret admirer.
Before she knew it, Mira smiled. She rose from the couch and made her way toward the island to join Zoey.
"Isn't she pretty?" Zoey whispered.
Mira's smile grew. "Yeah, she is."
Honestly, if you were to ask Mira, she'd agree that both of her girls are pretty. Pretty wouldn't be the only word she would use though. They're beautiful, they're strong, they're caring. Not to mention, cute. Mira would go to hell and back for them.
The smile on Zoey's face was contagious. Add the dreamy look, and Mira was hooked. For the sake of dignity, Mira shifted her gaze over to Rumi.
Rumi had yet to notice her small audience. No doubt that her entire focus was on their dinner. It smelled delightful.
"Is she making soup?"
"Not just any soup. It's Dakgaejang!"
"My favorite~"
It has been cold lately. A warm spicy chicken soup will certainly warm up their spirits. Not only that, but they'll be getting a home cooked meal from their precious Rumi. How lucky.
Mira and Zoey weren't sure when it exactly started, but Rumi's sex appeal became much more apparent the moment she decided not to hide her patterns anymore. A good decision, they all thought. Rumi looks much more happier, relaxed, and more confident than they have ever seen her during their years together. She looked good. Even now with her back turned to them.
Rumi was by all means the very definition of grace. The way her patterns glow—a soft lilac—whenever she was in a relaxed mood. The way her muscles flexed with every motion of her shoulders whenever she reached out for some spices, or the way she stirred the soup while humming a random song. It was bliss to see her this way.
Without realizing it, Mira's body moved on its own toward the kitchen. Zoey sat up, wondering what Mira was going to do.
"Okay, that should do it." Rumi smiled proudly at her creation. "I really outdid myself this time–"
Rumi jumped a little the moment she felt someone hug her from behind.
"It's okay. It's only me." Mira whispered.
Within seconds, Rumi felt herself relax into Mira's embrace. Smiling, Mira settled her chin on Rumi's shoulder to oversee her latest creation. "Smells good, by the way."
Rumi blushed. "...Thank you. Dinner will be ready soon."
"No fair! Mira, that's playing dirty!"
Before Rumi or Mira could brace themselves, they felt a weight crash into their left side. Zoey wrapped her arms around them. She did not look happy being left out.
"Chill. You were admiring Rumi for hours, and I didn't complain."
"Yeah, but that was before you decided to play dirty! I want hugs too, you know!"
"Someone's needy tonight."
"Damn straight!"
"Enough, you two." Rumi laughed. "I have to finish cooking. We can cuddle as much as you want on the couch."
"And then some~" Zoey grinned mischievously. She started to trail kisses on Rumi's shoulder, giving attention to every single pattern she could reach.
Likewise, Mira had a plan of attack of her own as she began peppering kisses along Rumi's neck. "Promise?"
Rumi shivered against their ministrations. "...Yes. I promise!" She squeaked.
And with that Zoey released her girls, releasing a cheer as she started to chant the word couch while doing a little dance on her way to the living room.
"Get back here, dum-dum. We're about to have dinner." Mira told her.
Zoey then stopped in her tracks, her couch chant stopping altogether. Then Zoey began to moonwalk back to the kitchen, chanting the word island while doing a little shimmie with her shoulders.
Rumi laughed, and Mira fondly shook her head. That's their Zoey.
Hours later, Mira woke up to the sound of the TV. Infomercials were on. In the end, their movie night was forgotten and so they decided to cuddle on the couch and idly watch whatever was on TV until they fell asleep.
Mira tried to sit up to turn it off, but found that she couldn't. She looked down and saw that both Rumi and Zoey were using her as a pillow. Their faces looked so peaceful. Mira didn't want to risk waking them up. Moving was also a risk. For Zoey, whose body could inevitably slip off the couch and onto the floor if Mira wasn't careful. Not so much for Rumi, who was safe.
Mira sighed and lifted her head as much as she could, trying to spot the remote amongst the mess of blankets and sprawled limbs. And she finally found it... At the end of the couch.
Mira then briefly remembered that Zoey had been the last one to have the remote earlier in the night, but failed to have it somewhere accessible for one of them to easily turn off the TV later in the event of them falling asleep.
Mira groaned. "Zoey..."
As if on cue, sleepy Zoey decided to stretch out, her hand accidentally slapping against Mira's face. Mira spluttered and scrunched her nose, now feeling her glasses at an awkward angle on her face. Not to mention, her face hurts a bit now. And the icing on the cake... Zoey had knocked off the remote with her foot, that was now on the floor. Joy.
Before Mira could growl and curse Zoey's name, she suddenly saw a bright blue light from her peripheral. Turning her head, she saw that Derpy and Sussy had decided to stop by.
While in the middle of warping, Sussy appeared to be fast asleep on top of Derpy's head. As soon as the pair materialized in the living room, Derpy's big orange eyes immediately zeroed in on the giant glowing box, sitting in front of it and giving it its full attention.
Perfect timing.
"Psst. Derpy."
The large feline's right ear flicked at the sound of her voice, but nothing more. He let out a small breath of amusement as he stared at the moving pictures before him. What was so amusing to Derpy about infomercials, Mira will never know.
Mira tried again, this time accentuating his name with more authority. "Der-py!"
On this attempt, both of his ears flicked. Derpy then turned his head to the right, slowly blinking each eye as he finally acknowledged Mira's presence.
"Can you be a good boy and pass me the remote?"
Would he be able to handle the task? She wondered. It's not like Mira had any other options right now, and she'll be damned to even dare wake up her girlfriends from their peaceful slumber. Derpy was her best ally right now.
Derpy stared at her for a while, and then shifted his gaze over to the remote, which was half way under the couch. He slowly rose from his spot and made his way over to the item in question. So far, so good.
He might just be able to pull this off. Mira thought, mildly impressed. She initially thought that the tiger would be slow on the uptake, as per it's usual behavior, but from the looks of it he just might pull through for her.
Or, so Mira thought.
Once he made it, Derpy slowly reaches out with a paw and manages to fish it out from the couch. He did nothing more as he turned to look at Mira for confirmation. Whether it was for praise or encouragement, Mira wasn't sure but she decided to humor him anyway.
"That's it, good. Now, bring it over."
Derpy lightly swats the remote, making it slide over the hardwood floor. He then looks at her again.
"That's it, buddy. Do it again."
Derpy repeats the same actions as before, and this time Mira outright groans in frustration.
"You've got to be kidding me."
After what seemed like an eternity, Mira's savior emerges. Sussy sighs, opening one of its eyes to see the problem at hand. It didn't take long for Sussy to figure it out. When Derpy lightly swatted the remote again, Sussy dropped down from its furry perch. The magpie used one of its talons to turn the remote towards the TV, and turned it off with a quick peck on the power button.
"Thank you, Sussy."
Cawing soon followed by quick wing flaps. Mira felt a small weight settle by her right shoulder, and from her peripheral she could see Sussy settling in. Before he perched on her shoulder, Sussy adjusted her glasses.
Mira chuckled. "What a gentleman. Thanks again, Sussy."
Sussy cawed again before getting comfortable in his new spot. Mira had to admit that Sussy was rather cozy. Cool to the touch, like a cooling pad. The cool sensation was enough to lull Mira to sleep. Almost.
A low whimper came from her right. Mira opened her right eye to see a sad, pitiful Derpy. Ears dropped, his smile was only half present, and his orange eyes portrayed a single question to Mira... *Did I do a good job too?*
Mira smiled, managing to free her arm from under Zoey to reach out and pet Derpy properly. "You did a good job too, furrball."
Derpy closed his eyes and leaned into Mira's touch, his tail swishing contentedly. His smile returned as he let out a happy hum.
"You happy now?" Mira asked him.
Derpy purred in response.
"Good. Now go to bed." Mira murmured, finally allowing herself to close her eyes.
Upon command, Derpy curls up by the couch. He purred for quite sometime, his body emanating some natural heat. A curious discovery, Mira thought, but that will be speculation for later. Right now, sleep beckons.

Im glad that jinu and rumi didnt have more physical intimacy. It wasnt rushed and the yearning for a lover from an enemy was so palpable.
I don’t understand why some people are upset they didn’t kiss. They don’t NEED to for the audience to see they pined for one another. Its in their songs, Free and Your Idol. Its in the way Jinu wears the bracelet Rumi gave him. Its in the way Rumi has gotten familiar with the tiger and the bird. Its in the way they don’t tell anyone else the nature of their relationship.
The signs are EVERYWHERE. And I feel like the a lot of Western movies have always followed the same pattern of sex and kissing the face of someone you just met, so some find rumi and jinu’s romance feels unsatisfied.
Call me conservative for liking it the way it is, but it’s realistic and I’m glad this movie steps away from expectations of western media and stays closer to kdrama-esque style of romance. I feel like most American movies always have their characters kiss or sleep with each other to point out their relationship to one another. You don’t always need to do that in writing and if anything, its a way to attract an audience since its basically soft porn. People like seeing nudity and graphic content because its the only time they can. You ever notice how the most viewed parts of shows are those moments?
Western media is filled with sex and drugs, to the point that physical forms of contact expected.
This movie is refreshing since it stands out in a crowd of dumb live actions and remakes. Thanks Sony and everyone that worked on it.
