For when you cant straighten out the thoughts in your head
You will need:
Blue (or whatever color you associate with calmness) pillar candle
Sage or palo santo
Fire safe dish
Water (preferably holy but tap can suffice)
Tumblr media
Light the candle
Use the flame from the candle to light your sage/palo santo and place in/on fire safe dish
Inhale deeply
Exhale fully (Repeat 3 times)
Pray over water (whether holy or not, pray to whoever you see fit)
Dip your fingers into the water and splash the sage as you say (either vocally or mentally) the following phrase 7 times.
I am the calm in the storm
The storm does not control me
I control the storm.
Allow the candle to burn completely out on it’s own.
Repeat if necessary

Think of the signs in your birth chart as voices...
Your rising sign is the voice you speak with, the voice others will always recognize you by.
Your sun sign is the voice deep inside you, regulating you, repeating certain key phrases over and over.
Your moon sign is the voice you laugh with, the voice you tell secrets with, and the voice that tells you it’s time to cry.
Your mercury sign is the voice in your head, the one that reads for you when you’re alone, and shapes your ideas into sentences.
Your venus sign is the voice that warms you, the softer one you use around that special person.
Your mars sign is the voice that excites you, the one that gets too loud sometimes, and the one saying those things you wish you could take back.
Your jupiter sign is the voice that tells you to do better, be better, grow. The one that inspires you and humbles you.
Your saturn sign is the voice that tells you to just go do it. The one that tells you when to keep your head down and when to have fun.
Your uranus sign is the voice you speak with when adressing someone higher than you, and the voice that urges you to find your purpose, so that you may one day change the world with it.
Your neptune sign is the voice that sings you to sleep, the one you trust to tell you how your dreams went, and the one that whispers that there is so much more to the universe than we know.
Your pluto sign is the voice that only asks questions that cannot be answered. The one that, ultimately, decides what you believe.
Your midheaven is the voice you use at a job interview, and even online. It’s the voice illuminating your skills and knowledge.

Instructions for a walk in the woods
Never turn around to check behind you. You’ll see nothing, but once you start doing it you won’t be able to stop, and an ominous feeling will follow you until you don’t lock your house’s door behind you.
If you stand very still and listen you will hear the woods calling for you. Don’t answer. Never answer.
You’ll hear things quietly following you, hidden in the trees by your sides. It’s okay, they’re just checking on you.
Don’t be scared, but be really, really wary.
If you have a bad feeling about taking a certain path, don’t. You’ll avoid whatever is waiting for you at the end of it.
You never know what may be buried under the soil you’re walking on. Remember that every time you take a step. Pray that whatever it is, it won’t wake up.
Be careful not to step on any beetle, or you’ll never get rid of them.
If you bring a knife with you, name it. Otherwise the blade will turn against you as soon as you try to use it.
Make sure you remember the way back home. As soon as you get lost, you’re just another piece of fresh meat.

witches, let’s talk spell books.
this is such a huge part of our craft, and i think its about time we talk about it.
a side note before we start, there is an amazing video that personally inspired me by a witch (herspeak) that you can watch here! i will include some of the information she gives in her video in this post for those of you who don’t have the time to watch!
first off… grimoire? book of shadows? whats the difference? what on earth even is a book of mirrors?? wait… there’s even more??
well first lets quickly talk about the different types of books!
grimoire: a textbook of magick, a reference book filled with anything you desire or need to remember (lists, correspondences, how-to’s, spells)
book of shadows: for wiccans/pagans, this can be seen as more religious, but it is typically more known for its personal/spiritual journal aspects (religious or not); some may use it for references also
book of mirrors: a book of reflections, for recording experimentation and its results including successes and failures (some like to keep their book of shadows pure with only successes)
book of light: a book used usually by wiccans/pagans that is used by eclectics, referring to light as knowledge; used for notes and information often to be shared whereas a book of shadows is personal and private (sort of makes me think of a less organized/personal grimoire)
the tree: a seax-wica (an anglo-saxon paganism) version of a book of shadows
book of ways: a devotional book for wiccans/pagans
(of course all of these things are up to further interpretation!)
back in the day when witchcraft was more ruled by covens, only one spell book was required for each coven, but now that witchcraft is often a solitary and/or personal path, witches are often encouraged to have their own! most witches will have either a book of shadows or grimoire. some witches will have both, and some will have one book that includes the aspects of both and call it one or the other.
let’s start with the basic thing nobody talks about… the book itself!
what should you use? well first off, you don’t need some big, expensive, and fancy leather book straight out of hocus pocus. if its so fancy that you aren’t going to work in it, don’t use it! you could use…
a sketchbook
you could make a book (a traveler’s notebook is a great idea)
an online book
a binder and insert pages
an old thrift store book and paint over the pages
you could even write and paint on paper and paste all over your walls and work space and make a room your ‘book’
you could choose something that relates to your field of magick if you have a defined one, get creative!
make sure your book a reflection of you. but remember, we are what makes books come alive. reading is what makes languages have purpose. without you there to read it, your book is meaningless. the connection between you and your book is beyond special from the first moment you begin working!
so where on earth do i start? if you already have one, what’s holding you back from working more?
well what interests you? if you don’t know yet, here is a wonderful masterpost of types of magick! find what you like, what sounds cool to you, what resonates with you, research it! (maybe make an entry about it and your discoveries!)
once you know your interests, don’t waste time on things you aren’t interested in. if you don’t care about herbal magick, don’t write down a seven page list of all herbs and their properties. i personally had to retry creating a grimoire a few times in order to learn that lesson.
so how do i bond and grow comfortable with my book? how do i create a connection? how do i give it my personal touch?
do what makes you happy.
create your own aesthetic. maybe ask friends around you what your aesthetic seems to be if you don’t know yourself. don’t follow that big ole leather book stereotype unless you like it. if you do, another great idea for aging your pages are coffee and tea stains on your paper.
sleep with your book under your pillow! bond with it like you would your tarot deck. carry it around throughout the day. let it become a companion.
your book isn’t just a place to write about your craft, infuse your craft! if you like lunar magick, bathe it in moonlight. if you like herbal magick, spray your pages with an herb and water mix.
don’t stress about organization or a table of contents yet. you can put an index at the end when you know you’re done. its your book so you’ll probably have a sense of where things are anyways, but if you’re forgetful like me, use some labelled bookmarks!
in fact, don’t stress about it at all if you can! your book shouldn’t stress you out. mistakes happen. keep negative energy away. you and your book are a conjoined, powerful force! you can paste over pages, paint over them, or even just rip them out. in the wonderful words of herspeak in the aforementioned video, nothing is special until you say it is.
remember, it might take a couple tries to get it right, and that’s okay! you might have to make a couple throughout your lifetime to hold all the knowledge you learn, so no worries.
don’t just copy and paste other peoples’ information into your book, that isn’t how you learn. take note of things that are important to you. are you memorizing or understanding? allow yourself to understand. if it shines and you find it important, write this information in your own words and in a setup you enjoy.
you don’t have to be an artist to make a beautiful book! your book is already beautiful, unique, and magickal because its yours!
here’s some ideas for pages in your book!
correspondence lists. i definitely think color correspondences are important for just about every witch! what do these things mean to you? how do they make you feel and what do you relate them to? do this with other things you find interesting!
devote a page to your sun and moon sign or maybe you and your partners signs and how they interact.
create a protection sigil just for your book.
make a page about your totem animal/spirit animal. please don’t appropriate these terms though, you can also use daemon, patronus, eomkin, or even just your personal corresponding animal.
you could make a page for each holiday, its history and dates, and add a paper pocket into the page filled with recipes.
you could collage things that make you think of a deity you like whether you’re secular or whether you participate. if enjoy and appreciate a deity, give em a page! if you worship or work with one or many, dive in much deeper and show how that relationship affects you.
paste in pictures from books or parts of posters that show what magick means to you.
practice spirit work? draw the spirit! collage the spirit. find art that makes you think of the spirit and pop it in there.
press plants you find, tape them in, bring a little greenery into your book. label them if you like. give them your own names if you don’t know your plants well.
write your dreams out, decorate in a way that feels right, use colors according to how it made you feel.
draw out the ingredients you want to use in a spell/potion/oil. dab a bit of the creation on the page.
make a page for your familiars. list any spells for them, where you found/adopted them, their breed and things about them, what’s their favorite snack, and if your familiar is cooperative, maybe try to get a paw/nose print!
make a pendulum chart.
find one of those adult coloring books. tear a few pages and stick them in either randomly or maybe in a page about meditation. when stressed, use it as a meditative practice.
chakras, what they mean to you, correspondences, and which you may need to work on. here is a fun test you can take that tells you if your chakras are under-active, over-active, or open.
any fictional/real witches or wizards that stood out to you? why?
write about magickal experiences you had as a child you can’t explain today. what about imaginary friends and were they imaginary?
get geeky. make spells about video games! inspire spells based on favorite characters and abilities or get inspiration from your favorite playable mages! get really creative with this one.
make a page about past lives if you know of any.
what do the elements mean to you? what are your favorites? which do you feel connected to?
stick envelopes in there and put recipes, spreads, all sorts of things in there to save some pages! utilize fold out pages for long chunks of information.
do you cast circles? what do you use? what do you think the energy looks like? the color? the shape if you don’t see it as a circle? draw the seen and unseen.
make a page about your spiritual or psychic gifts. how did you discover them?
make a list of things to research. cross them out as you do.
print out aesthetically pleasing pictures you find portray you and your craft. collage your personal aesthetic/witchy moodboard
i could list on and on, but i hope i’ve given you some creative inspiration! make your book what you want! keep researching and gain inspiration from others if you’re ever lost. feel free to message me if you ever have questions!
happy casting!

Beginner Witchery
Disclaimer: Witchcraft is NOT a religion! It is a practice, or skill. Anyone of ANY religion can be a witch!
There are a few steps to becoming a witch, and the first is taking an interest, which you obviously have and its led you to my post. Many things lead people to magic! Maybe you’ve always felt a strong connection with Mother Earth and her lovely inhabitants, or maybe your friend is a witch and recently has been open about it with you. The second step is exploring the craft, Reading witchy books and blogs, and gathering information. The final steps are to start calling yourself a witch and start practicing witchcraft. Those steps are interchangeable, it doesn’t matter what comes first.
When it comes to learning more about witchcraft, a lot of baby witches ask me the million dollar question… “What do I study first?”
Theres no exact order you need to follow. I’d advise you to be respectful to magick, to the elements and to mother earth. Start being more aware of all she gives us, if you aren’t already.
Here are some things you can do/look into to get yourself started:
Witchblr. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE WITCHBLR. There is so much information on witchblr, its really amazing.
History of witchcraft. Studying the roots of the craft is so interesting to do! Its really cool to hear the origins of everything we do.
Crystals. Crystals are my FAVORITE, my collection is always growing and i pick specific ones to carry based on what i need the day of.
Divination Methods. There are several ways to divine, and its really nice to get some insight from your spirit guide/the universe. Studying the origins of these methods is also really interesting.
Herbs. Herbs are awesome and you can use them for everything, be it magick or mundane. They are great for using in spell jars, teas, baths and etc.
Dreams. Study what they mean, why they’re important and how you can benefit from listening in to the deeper messages they hold.
Keep a dream journal! Start recording everything you can remember as soon as you wake up.
Grounding. I think everyone should ground themselves at least once a day, it makes you feel so balanced.
Celestial Bodies. Each planet has a different energy, and you can use these energies potentially.
THE MOON. The moon has so much energy its so powerful and i love feeling it shine on my skin. Its phases have significant effects on us and on our spellwork.
The elements. Each element brings a different energy, and when you cast circles you typically call on each element. its nice to know about these energies and find which ones you click with the most.
Altar Tools.
Deities. Study the different pantheons, see if one appeals to you. if not, its ok, not everyone works with them.
Meditate. Get in tune with yourself. Thats the best thing you can do while on this spiritual journey.
Sigils.
Talismans.
Different Alphabets
Types of spells
Types of magick
Famous witches.
A few more tips from me:
Keep journals. yes. plural. one for dreams, one for your general day to day feelings and to record your growth spiritually, one for the crystals and herbs you collect (or one for each), one for your studies. You CANNOT record too much! Take notes on everything.
never do anything you don’t feel comfortable with.
Never rush ahead of yourself. Take your time with learning about the craft, you will thank yourself in the future.
Use what you have! You don’t need supplies to be a witch or have a successful spell. Its all mental and about your flow of energy. you just need YOU.
your craft is your own, do not feel pressured to be more like witches you admire, do whatever feels right to you.
unless you follow a specific tradition, there are no rules in witchcraft. There is a lot more freedom in witchcraft than you may realize.
DOn’t ever shame other witches. Best example: Some witches curse, some don’t.
i know i said this earlier, but be respectful. always remember to thank mother earth for everything she supplies us with.
Always say goodbye to any entities you call into your circle.
NEVER be scared of spirits. they are all around us, all the time, they only make themselves known sometimes. fear can feed them and help them grow in strength.
don’t worry about a title, you don’t need to scramble to find our what kind of witch you are. you will just know eventually based on what you do most in your practice, it will take some time.
MY ASKS ARE OPEN, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, ASK AND I WILL ANSWER WITHIN 2-4 DAYS. you can also send me a message.
Please add to this so any baby witches can see what you have to say and be informed!! You can also submit a post to my blog.
I will add to this post in the future, i hope it was helpful.
Blessed be!

The four different types of tarot readings
1.) You ask your deck a question. It gives you the complete opposite of what you want.
2.) MTV Roasts: starring you and your tarot deck.
3.) Me: hey tarot, I need to know what steps I should take in order to do the thing.
Tarot: You should do the thing.
4.) You draw five death cards. You only have one deck.

i think one of the most common dangers I run into in the edible and medicinal plant scene is the problem of “can you eat it” vs. “should you eat it”
a lot of websites and books these days will be like “ten wild plants you can use to make tea” without then listing the actual use for those teas because all they care about is the novelty of making your own tea from things you picked in the woods.
They tell you stuff like “A wonderfully cleansing medicine, it supports the liver, stimulates the flow of urine and the removal of waste by the kidneys.”
And people are so into the idea of cleansing their bodies of supposed toxins, that sounds great!
But what I know is that what they really mean is, this plant is a diuretic, meaning if you use it for tea, you’re going to peeing All. Day. Long. Every. Ten. Minutes.
Which isn’t fun if you’re on a hike or about to get back in your car and drive an hour home.
Some popular plants recommended for teas are used as contraceptives and morning after treatments. So here you are, trying to get pregnant, drinking your natural to rid your kidneys of impurities, being healthy as can be, and all along you’re taking birth control!
And if you’re already taking birth control and trying to not get pregnant, the plant can mess you up too.
There are plants that mess with antidepressants, and with blood pressure medicine, that make you sick to your stomach, that messes with your blood, and on and on.
And all of these sources will just list them as something you can eat, because hey, you won’t die if if you do!
Which is true, you’ll live, but at what cost!!!
Please remember herbal remedies and edible plants have always been consumed and applied with a PURPOSE, and unless you know what that purpose is, don’t consume them just because you can. It’s a bad idea.

You will need:
A green plant or herb, such as basil or rosemary
Six green candles
Six coins
Timing:
During the waxing moon
Instructions:
Light the candles in a circle around the plant, and set a coin in front of each so they make a larger circle around the candles.
Pick up the first coin and say: “Grow and increase, do not cease, increase and grow, let it be so.”
Blow out the corresponding candle and bury the coin in the flowerpot, repeating: “Increase and grow, let it be so.”
Continue this chant as you go around the circle and do the same thing with each coin and candle.
When all six coins are buried, relight the candles and let them burn through.
Water the plant regularly, repeating all the spell words.

What the Signs Need
Aries – “I believe in you.”
Aries are full of energy. They’re bold and impulsive. They seem confident because they always have a response; they’re always quick to act. However, this isn’t always confidence- sometimes it’s just their impulsive nature that forces them to act. Yes, they are children who know no fear, but they desperately need emotional support. Knowing that someone else has confidence in them, that someone is on their team, can push an Aries to become their best person: a fearless leader.
Taurus – “There’s no rush.”
Taurus hate feeling pressured. They need to feel comfortable and fulfilled before they reach any decision and definitely before they act. Having someone who understands their need for security and their slow (omg so slow sometimes) pace actually helps them feel better about making big moves (which kind of freaks them out because they don’t like change)!
Gemini – “You’re not crazy.”
Lets be honest, Gemini placements can inject lots of thoughts and feelings into a person. It creates indecisiveness and mental chaos, which makes a person moody. And people with Gemini placements know this and are sometimes unsteadied by the amount of mercurial energy. Having someone tell them that their need to overanalyze everything is okay and having someone who will listen to their endless thoughts is extremely validating and comforting to them.
Cancer – “You make a difference.”’
Most Cancers really take on more than they should, and they’ll take on more if it means helping another. They do this because they want to change and influence the world in a caring manner. And because they do this in a caring manner (instead of in a forceful manner (Aries) or strategic manner (Capricorn)), they sometimes doubt their efforts. They doubt that they have any impact on anyone, which just isn’t true. A Cancer’s kindness and ability to provide emotional support and strength to another is unmatched by any other sign, and someone who acknowledges this “hidden” strength and reminds a Cancer of it when they forget, will satisfy a Cancer in a meaningful way.
Leo – “Let me take care of you.”
Leos are very loyal and will do a lot for their partners and friends. However, this can not go unnoticed or unreciprocated. Leos need people to show them that they are thankful by returning the favor and then some. Leos want you to exceed their expectations just like they would do for you, and they won’t accept less.
Virgo – “Let me help you.”
Virgos really are about serving people’s needs and in what way and with what means changes depending on the planet and the house that Virgo is in. However, the need to serve is definitely present, and there is nothing worse than someone who consistently takes from a Virgo and never gives back. Because a Virgo isn’t like Leo, they won’t stop giving, blow up, and cut you off. A Virgo will continue to give even to their own detriment. This is why a Virgo needs someone who not only returns a favor but someone who just starts helping from the very beginning without having to be asked.
Libra – “You’re beautiful.”
Libras are very indecisive. They easily can get caught up in what people think or feel about them. They constantly are trying to define themselves and figure out who they are by mirroring others. They spend so much time looking at others that they frequently can’t identify their own qualities, which makes them question themselves on every level. To have someone who can definitively tell a Libra they’re beautiful (inside (Libras want to change the world too) and outside (Libras are vain) and be able to explain to them why, takes a huge weight off of their shoulders. For a few seconds, they don’t have to search or mirror because the person in front of them is telling them all they need to hear. (P.S. You will have to elaborate as to why they are beautiful- in what ways, specific examples, etc. They are an air sign haha it comes with further questioning)!
Scorpio – “I won’t leave.”
Scorpios are intense. Even if they come off light because of a misleading Ascendant or some other placement, there is a distinct side to them that is serious, edgy, and somewhat dark. And while most Scorpios enjoy the depth and transformation that comes with their placement, they can also be self conscious about it because they know it doesn’t make them the easiest to deal with, and it can lead to people leaving them, which highlights one of their biggest fears: abandonment. Scorpios thrive to have someone who won’t leave them in their darkest night because they need and expect unwavering loyalty. They also feel relieved knowing that not everyone is scared of (or drowns in) their depths.
Sagittarius – “Be free with me”
Sagittarius loves freedom: freedom of thought, expression, creativity, expansion, knowledge, etc. And they also love people (because they provide endless learning) and love to share their experiences of freedom and knowledge with other people, which can be a problem because people can slow them down. People come with baggage and responsibilities and can lead to becoming attached, which can influence someone to put down roots, which petrifies them. The run-on sentence is necessary to accurately depict their very real fear of this and them running away. But seriously this is why a Sag needs someone who calms that inner fear of being tied down because they know they have found someone to run free with.
Capricorn – “I appreciate all that you do.”
Capricorns show they care in a behind-the-scenes manner. They do it through helping and performing tasks- possibly doing things that are needed instead of wanted. They are consistent providers and supporters, and because they are consistent, their efforts can be overlooked and/or viewed as boring or expected. This is why when a Capricorns finds someone who acknowledges and appreciates their efforts, they are likely to do even more for that person and consider them as really valuable.
Aquarius – “You’re my best friend.”
People with Aquarius placements go back and forth between their love for being an individual and their fear of being so different that they don’t fit in anywhere. They want a companion but not one who wants to completely merge (because 1. they need to be their own person and 2. scary). They need someone to listen even if they don’t completely understand them (and honestly an Aquarius doesn’t want to be 100% understood anyway). They need someone who doesn’t deny their authenticity and isn’t repelled by their individuality, and who better to do that than a best friend.
Pisces – “You’re my soulmate.”
More than any other sign, Pisces really have a need to merge with another person. Traditional love isn’t enough for them. They are really looking for that fated connection, their soul mate. They need to know that there may be a billion other people in the world and that no one in that billion could replace them. They don’t need to feel that you chose them but rather that fate, through several lifetimes, chose the both of you for one another
