Assim como as agulhas de crochê, nas receitas das peças, será informada qual tipo de linha você deverá utilizar. Contudo, quando está começando um projeto do zero é necessário que saiba as propriedades do material como: cor, matéria prima, espessura, entre outros.

O mercado de linhas é bastante vasto, existem diversos tipos e inúmeros fabricantes, por isso, é interessante ir experimentando os produtos de marcas diferentes até encontrar a que você mais vai se adaptar e que mais se adequa ao seu trabalho.

1. Materiais

Existem algumas principais matérias primas que são importantes conhecer para saber a origem dos seus fios.

Fios sintéticos (acrílico, nylon e poliéster);

Fios Naturais (algodão, bambu, seda);

Animais (lã, caxemina);

Fios de Malha ; Material reciclado produzido a partir de resíduos de malha.

Atenção: Por ser feito com diversos fios, sua consistência e maleabilidade costumam variar num mesmo novelo.

2. Tipos 

Acrílico – Utilizada geralmente em: tapetes, blusas, bolsas.

Nylon – Ideal para cordões e bolsas de mão.

Poliéster – Bom para: bolsa de mão, cestos, boinas e mochilas.

Algodão - Muito usada em: Amigurumis, casaquinhos, cestos, entre outros.

Bambu – Versátil, é utilizado em: cestos, balaios, peneiras, utensílios domésticos, enfeites e arranjos, adorno pessoal e objetos para a agricultura e criação de animais.

Seda – Dão aspecto delicado a peça além de um ótimo acabamento em: vestidos, blusas, saias, roupas e acessórios em geral.

Lã – Ideal para cozer roupas para frio como meias, casacos, luvas, cobertores.

Poliamida – Muito adequado para: biquínis e outras peças para praia/piscina e sacolas.

Caxemira – Assim como as linhas de lã, estas são mais utilizadas para confeccionar roupas e acessórios para épocas mais frias.

Barbantes – Possui um fio mais grosso ideal para: tapetes, bolsas e alguns modelos de blusas.

3. O peso

Quando falamos de peso da linha, nos referimos à TEX (esta é a nomenclatura que indica o peso da linha a cada 1.000m). O peso também está diretamente ligado à espessura da linha pois quanto mais grossa a linha, mais pesada será, e, por consequência, a agulha utilizada será maior. Mas não se preocupe, como mencionado neste artigo, quando adquirir seu novelo, estará escrito qual linha é a adequada para aquele material e espessura.

4. A Metragem

Saber a metragem do novelo que irá utilizar é de sua importância para um trabalho de sucesso. Existem variações entre 65m a 1.000m, chegando em até maiores numerações. Por isso, tenha muita atenção ao à metragem de sua linha, pode ocorrer de um mesmo novelo apresentar menor ou maior quantidade de fios, por isso, fique sempre atenta(o) para comprar a quantidade necessária para seu trabalho e de preferência, sempre do mesmo lote, porque um mesmo novelo com nomenclatura, cor e marcas iguais, podem ter diferenciações entre os lotes.

Algumas linhas são mais fáceis de encontrar nas lojas do que outras, eu recomendo sempre que puder, fazer pesquisa de preço, pois os valores acabam variando de R$1-4 reais dependendo do lugar. Pode não parecer uma diferença de preço exorbitante para quem irá comprar apenas 1-2 novelos, mas para quem compra em larga escala, faz bastante diferença no bolso na hora de pagar.

Sendo assim, o tipo de linha ideal para seu projeto será aquela que sua experiência vai escolher. Portanto, experimente várias linhas, exercite e estude bastante sobre o assunto, que com o tempo e a experiência, você saberá tudo de cabeça.

When we talk about thread weight, we refer to TEX (this is the nomenclature that indicates the weight of the thread every 1,000m). The weight is also directly related to the thickness of the thread because the thicker the thread, the heavier it will be, and, consequently, the needle used will be larger. But don't worry, as mentioned in this article, when you buy your ball of thread, it will be indicated which line is appropriate for that material and thickness.

4. The length 

Knowing the length of the ball of thread you will use is of utmost importance for successful work. There are variations between 65m to 1.000m, and even higher numbers. For this reason, pay attention to the length of your thread, as the same ball may have a smaller or larger number of threads, so always be careful to buy the necessary amount for your work and preferably always from the same batch, because the same ball with the same nomenclature, color and brands may have differences between batches.

Trabalhar com artesanato, especificamente o crochê, é uma maneira cientificamente comprovada de reduzir o stress e a ansiedade presente em nosso dia a dia. Com isso, quando vamos dar início a um projeto, principalmente quando se é iniciante, um dos pontos cruciais a se ter me mente é saber identificar a agulha ideal para fazê-lo.

De início, reconhecer e descobrir a agulha certa para suprir suas necessidades pode ser bastante confuso, especialmente dentro de um mercado amplo e com diversas opções, mas, conforme você começa a se informar e a pesquisar sobre o assunto, essa missão começa a ficar mais fácil.

1. Os modelos de agulhas de crochê?

O processo para a escolha da agulha ideal é um caminho de constantes erros e acertos. Então, não se culpe por se enganar em suas compras, como dito anteriormente, o mercado de artesanato é vasto e até mesmo artesãs profissionais com longo tempo de carreira ainda estão descobrindo sobre os novos materiais que surgem diariamente.

Logo de primeira, para escolher sua agulha é necessário escolher sua receita, na maioria das vezes a própria receita te indica qual o tamanho utilizar. Caso não tenha uma receita, no novelo que comprar haverá a informação do tamanho ideal apara aquela espessura de linha.

Após esse primeiro contato, o segundo passo é escolher o material da sua agulha e isto é uma questão bem pessoal de cada artesão que você só saberá identificar conforme for trabalhando com cada material.

Sendo assim, para tornar essa sua tarefa mais fácil, separei alguns critérios para levar em conta e comparar na hora de sua aquisição.

 2. O corpo

Uma agulha de crochê é composta de um gancho, uma haste, um apoio e um cabo.

O gancho é a parte que retém a linha te permitindo juntar e moldar seu crochê. Seu arco pode mais ou menos abaulado (arredondado) e sua grossura pode ser maior ou menor que a sua haste, dependendo do modelo de sua agulha.

A haste é a ponte que liga a cabeça ao cabo e que também delimita o espaço entre os pontos. Ela pode ser reta ou curvada, curta ou longa.

O apoio e o cabo são os locais onde seguramos na agulha para podermos trabalhar com a linha. Existem em diversos tipos de materiais e formatos e, são itens que geralmente andam de mãos dadas, pois, quando há um apoio na agulha (não é um item obrigatório), ele é incorporado ao cabo.

 3. O tamanho

Como escolher o tamanho da agulha de crochê?

Essa é uma pergunta bastante pertinente para os iniciantes, mas não se intimide! Vou lhe ajudar a descobrir!

As agulhas de crochê são medidas em milímetros e podemos dize que essa seria uma medida universal, salvo alguns fabricantes que tem sua própria numeração. Sendo assim, esses tamanhos variam de 0.5mm a 20.0mm (conhecidas como Jumbo) e cada tamanho é apropriado para um determinado trabalho.

Eu já escrevi aqui e volto a reforçar, normalmente, a medida ideal da agulha para o seu trabalho será aquela descrita na receita e, se não tiver a receita, estará descrita no verso do novelo do fio quando comprar. Caso você não tenha nenhuma dessas informações, dependendo do tamanho dos pontos desejados, existe uma estimativa que você pode fazer para descobrir.

Se você pretende começar fazendo pontos pequenos, vá calibrando o tamanho dos pontos desejados com a agulha, pois, agulhas muito pequenas podem atrapalhar seu projeto tornando-o muito apertado e duro.

Quanto menor a agulha, mais justos serão seus pontos e o contrário também acontece, ou seja, quanto maior a agulha mais larga e flexível ficará sua peça. Uma sugestão que pode ser interessante pra você que quer descobrir o tamanho da agulha ideal para o seu projeto é fazer diferentes carreirinhas e ir testando qual se adequa mais as suas necessidades.

Não esquente a cabeça! Conforme vai ganhando experiência, mais fácil será para identificar qual milimetragem de agulha é a melhor para você, porque o estilo de crochetar varia de pessoa para pessoa, então seus pontos podem ser mais largos ou mais estreitos.

 4. Os materiais

O material que é feito a agulha influencia fortemente, no resultado de seu trabalho. Por isso, é interessante que saiba quais os materiais que existem no mercado, para experimentar e escolher a melhor opção para você.

4.1 Agulhas de Aço Inox

As agulhas de crochê de aço inox são mais indicadas para trabalhos com linhas finas, suas medidas variam entre 0.6 mm à 2.0mm, mas é possível encontrar em outros tamanho dependendo do fabricante.

Se sua intenção é trabalhar com projetos que usem linhas finas, como barras em panos de prato, por exemplo, é legal ter algumas dessas agulhas nos tamanhos entre 0.6mm a 1.5mm.

4.1.1 Agulhas de Aço com ponta dupla

Mais usados no crochê Tunisiano e/ou Afegão, as agulhas de crochê com ponta dupla possuem dois ganchos de tamanhos diferentes, um em cada lado de suas extremidades. Seus tamanhos variam de 2.0mm a 5.0mm. Não são muito comuns e, caso for utilizá-las, recomendo encomendar pela internet, principalmente se você mora no interior (assim como eu!).

4.2 Alumínio

O material mais fácil que se encontra nos armarinhos de qualquer lugar é a agulha de crochê de alumínio. Ela possui um corpo fino e é bem prática e, diferentemente das agulhas de aço inox mencionadas acima, elas são sugeridas para trabalhos com linhas mais grossas como a lã e o barbante.

Suas medidas variam entre 2.0mm a 7.0mm.

4.2.1 Alumínio colorido

As agulhas de crochê de alumínio colorido são classificadas conforme sua espessura, ou seja, suas cores são escolhidas dependendo de seu tamanho.

Falando em medidas, elas podem variar entre 2.0mm a 10.0mm.

São as mais recomendadas por serem mais leves, contudo, nunca experimentei uma.

4.2.2 Alumínio Esmaltado

Conhecida por serem umas das mais resistentes e duráveis, as agulhas de crochê de alumínio esmaltado oferecem maior facilidade e segurança na confecção de seu trabalho, justamente por serem esmaltadas.

Podem ser encontradas nos tamanhos de 2.0m a 5.0mm.

4.2.3 Gancho de alumínio com cabo de borracha

Uma das mais queridinhas pelos cabos serem frequentemente anatômicos.  As agulhas de crochê com gancho de alumínio com cabo de borracha permitem um trabalho com conforto e tranquilidade.

Os tamanhos que se encontram usualmente são entre 1.25m  a 6.0mm.

4.2.4 Gancho de alumínio com cabo de plástico

As mais recomendadas para quem trabalha constantemente com crochê, as agulhas de gancho de alumínio com cabo de plástico confortam bem as mãos e oferecem um manuseamento prático.

São as que eu geralmente uso e posso afirmar que são ótimas, principalmente para confeccionar amigurumis e trabalhos extensos.

4.2.5 Gancho de alumínio com cabo de bambu

As agulhas de crochê com gancho de alumínio com cabo de bambu também são muito boas. Já utilizei deste modelo e posso garantir que além do charme que o cabo de bambu traz, ele oferece bastante conforto para suas mãos durante o trabalho.

4.3. Acrílico

As agulhas de crochê de acrílico se assemelham ás agulhas de plástico, contudo, por conta de seu material, são mais duráveis e resistentes, sem contar que são bem bonitas e tem um brilho em suas cores.

Geralmente são mais caras que suas primas de plástico e há quem diz que cansam menos as mãos, mas eu, particularmente, ainda não testei nenhuma.

4.4 Bambu

Uma das que mais tenho vontade de experimentar é a agulha de crochê de bambu. São elegantes e sustentáveis, não estragam a linha (com farpas) e tem um gancho que pega os fios com firmeza. Geralmente são utilizadas para trabalhos com barbante, mas não se limita a ele.

4.5 Madeira

As agulhas de crochê de madeira são parecidas com as de bambu, muitos até confundem, todavia, elas de diferem, pois são um pouco mais delicadas, trazendo leveza ao projeto.

4.6 Plástico

Assim como as agulhas de alumínio, as agulhas de crochê de plástico são bem comuns de serem encontradas, podem ser encontradas tanto em tamanhos finos quanto em tamanho maiores (jumbo).

 5. Quanto custa uma agulha de crochê?

O crochê não é uma arte muito cara (dependendo da sua intenção é claro hehehe). Os preços de uma agulha normal para iniciante variam entre R$ 2,00 a R$ 10,00 (por peça) levando-se em conta o local onde você a compra, em lojas nas capitais o preço, com certeza, será mais alto do que no interior.

As agulhas também são vendidas em kits, logo que comecei eu procurei um kit iniciante na internet que vinha com todas as agulhas que eu iria necessitar para começar minha jornada no crochê. Entretanto, se você é uma crocheteira antiga ou é alguém que irá fazer do crochê uma atividade profissional, facilmente encontrará agulhas com uns extras (até importadas) que custarão uns $$$ a mais.

Para não extrapolar e sair do seu limite anote o que realmente precisa e comece devagar, sei que a ansiedade nos faz querer comprar tudo que vemos pela frente.

5.1 Onde comprar agulha de crochê?

A agulha de crochê pode ser encontrada em lojas online e físicas de costura, aviamentos e armarinhos. Na internet eu indico dois sites que tenho confiança e já comprei materiais por eles que é o Mercado Livre e a Shopee. Já vi bastantes indicações da Amazon, mas nunca adquiri nada por lá.

Lembrando sempre de ter cuidado e atenção na hora de comprar qualquer coisa online, verifique a reputação do vendedor, veja avaliações de produtos, leia as descrições! Não é só porque o site é aparentemente seguro que iremos deixar de ter atenção!

 Posto isto, pode-se concluir que, toda agulha tem um corpo e, dependendo do material a qual é feita, irá influenciar no tempo que levará para a peça ficar pronta, além disso, a espessura da agulha determinará o tamanho do seu projeto. Ainda sim, para descobrir o seu tipo de agulha ideal, não existe fórmula mágica, tudo depende de treinamento e paciência.

 O crochê é uma forma de expressão, seja feita por hobbie ou como um trabalho profissional, é importante sempre se divertir e relaxar, lembrando-se de manter o foco nos estudos e na prática!

At first, recognizing and selecting the right needle can be quite confusing, especially within a vast market with several options, but as you start to get informed and doing your research on the subject, this mission begins to get easier.

 1. What are the types of crochet needles?

The process of choosing the right needle is a path of constant missteps and attempts. So don't go hard on yourself in your early purchases, as said before, the craft market is vast and even professional artisans with a long career are still discovering about the new materials that appear daily.

First of all, to choose your needle it is necessary to choose your recipe, most of the time, the recipe itself tells you what size to use. If you don't have a recipe, the ball of thread that you buy will show you the ideal size for that thickness of thread. After this first contact, the second step is to choose the material of your needle and this is a very personal matter for each artisan, that you will only be able to identify as you work with each material.

To make your task easier, I have separated some criteria to take into account and compare at the time of your purchase.

 2. The body

A crochet needle is composed of a hook, a shaft, a thumb-rest, and a handle.

The hook is the part that holds the thread, allowing you to join and shape your crochet. Its arch can be more or less rounded and its thickness can be higher or lower than its shaft, depending on the model of your needle.

The shaft is the bridge that connects the head to the handle and also delimits the space between the stitches. It can be straight or curved, short or long.

The thumb-rest and the handle are the places where we hold on the needle in order to work with the thread. They exist in various types of materials and shapes, and this items usually work side by side, because if there’s a support on the needle (it is not a mandatory item), it’s incorporated into the handle.

 3. The size

How to choose the size of the crochet needle?

This is a very pertinent question for beginners, but doesn't be intimidated! I'll help you find out!

Crochet needles are measured in millimeters and this would be a universal type of measurement, except for some manufacturers that have their own scale. Therefore, crochet needles ranges from 0.5mm to 20.0mm (known as Jumbo) and each size is appropriate for a specific job.

I have already written here, and I will say again, normally, the fitting needle size for your work will be the one described in your recipe, and if you don't have the recipe, it’ll be described on the back of the yarn when you buy it. If you don't have any of these informations, depending on the size of the stitches you want, there is an estimation you can do it to find out.

If you intend to initiate your work with small stitches, calibrate the size of the stitches you want with the needle, but be careful, needles that are too small can get in the way of your project making it too tight and stiff.

The smaller the needle, the tighter your stitches will be, and the opposite also happens, that is, the larger the needle, the wider and more flexible your piece will be. A suggestion that might be interesting for you, is to make different rows and test which one best suits your needs.

Don't worry about it! As you gain experience, it’ll be easier to identify which size is right for you, because crocheting style varies from person to person, so your stitches may be wider or narrower.

4. The materials

The material which the needle is made has a strong influence on the result of your work. It’s interesting to know which materials are available on the market, so you can experiment and choose the best option for you.

4.1 Stainless steel needles

The stainless steel crochet needles are best suited to work with thinner threads, their measurements range from 0.6 mm to 2.0 mm, but you can find them in other sizes depending on the manufacturer.

4.1.1 Double Pointed Steel Needles

Most commonly used in Tunisian and/or Afghan crochet, double pointed crochet needles have two hooks of different sizes, one on each side of their ends. Their sizes range from 2.0mm to 5.0mm. They’re not very usual and if you are going to use them, I recommend buying them online, especially if you live in the countryside. (like me!)

4.2 Aluminum

The easiest material to find in stores everywhere is the aluminum crochet needle. It has a thin body and is very practical and, unlike the stainless steel needles mentioned above, they are suggested for working with thicker threads such as wool and twine.

They range in size from 2.0mm to 7.0mm.

4.2.1 Colored aluminum

Colored aluminum crochet needles are classified according to their thickness, in example; their colors are chosen depending on their size.

Speaking of sizes, they can range from 2.0 mm to 10.0 mm.

They are the most recommended because they are lighter, however, I’ve never tried one.

4.2.2 Enameled Aluminum

Known for being one of the most resistant and durable, the enameled aluminum crochet needles offer greater ease and safety in the making of your work, precisely because they’re enameled.

They can be found in sizes from 2.0m to 5.0mm.

4.2.3 Aluminum hook with rubber handle

One of the most popular because the handles are often anatomical. Crochet needles with an aluminum hook with rubber handle allows comfort on your work.

Sizes commonly found are from 1.25m to 6.0mm.

4.2.4 Aluminum hook with plastic handle

The most recommended for those who constantly work with crochet, the aluminum hook needles with plastic handle comfort the hands well and offer practical handling.

They’re the ones I usually use, and I can say that they’re great, especially for making amigurumi and large works.

4.2.5 Aluminum hook with bamboo handle

Crochet needles with aluminum hooks with bamboo handles are also very good. I have tried this model, and I can assure you that, besides the charm that the bamboo handle brings, it offers a lot of comfort for your hands while working.

4.3 Acrylic

Acrylic needles are similar to plastic needles, however, because of its material, they are more durable and resistant, not to mention that they are very beautiful and have a brighter color.

Generally they are more expensive than their plastic cousins, and some say they tire less the hands, but I, particularly, have not tested any.

4.4 Bamboo

One of the ones I'm most eager to try is the bamboo crochet needle. They are elegant and sustainable, don't spoil the thread (with barbs) and have a hook that catches the threads firmly. They’re usually used for work with twine, but it is not limited to it.

4.5 Wood

Wooden crochet needles are similar to those made of bamboo, many even confuse them, however, they differ because they’re a little more delicate, bringing lightness to the project.

4.6 Plastic

Like aluminum needles, plastic crochet needles are very common to be found. They can be found in both, fine and jumbo sizes.

 5. How much does a crochet needle cost?

Crocheting is not a very expensive art (depending on your intentions, of course hehehe). The prices of a normal needle for beginners ranges from R$ 2.00 to R$ 10.00 (a piece), remembering that the prices can change depending where you buy, in stores in capitals the price will certainly be higher than in the countryside.

The needles are also sold in kits, as soon as I started I looked for a starter kit on the internet that came with all the needles I’d need to start my journey in crochet. However, if you are an old crocheter or someone who will make crochet as an professional activity, you will easily find needles with some extras (even imported) that will cost a few $$$ more.

To not extrapolate and go beyond your budget, write down what you really need and start slowly, I know that anxiety makes us want to buy everything we see in front of us.

5.1 Where can I buy crochet needles?

The crochet needle can be found in online and physical stores. On the internet I indicate two sites that I trust and have bought materials through them which are, the Mercado Livre and Shopee. I’ve seen many indications from Amazon, but I’ve never bought anything there.

Remembering always to be careful when buying anything online, check the seller's reputation, see product reviews, read the descriptions! It is not just because the site is apparently safe that we’ll not be careful!

 We can conclude that every needle has a body, and depending on the material which is made, will influence the time it’ll take for the piece to be finished, and the thickness of the needle will determine the size of your project. Still, to find your ideal needle, there’s no magical formula, it all depends on training and patience.

Crochet is a form of expression, whether done as a hobby or as a professional job, it’s important to always have fun and relax, remembering to keep focused on your studies and practice!

Hoje foi mais um dia de testes. Tentei seguir uma receita que vi no YouTube para fazer minha primeira bolinha. Os materiais não eram os mesmo então dei uma improvisada! ⁣ ⁣ A agulha era diferente da da professora (tamanho 2.5 no vídeo e a minha era 1.0) e as linhas não eram do mesmo tamanho (ainda não sei ver medida de linhas mas sei que a linha que estava utilizando era muito mais fina). Entre trancos e barrancos tentei seguir o passo a passo... como podem ver não deu muito certo hahahaha porém, achei que ficou idêntico a uma pitanga! ⁣ ⁣ Pode não ter sido minha primeira bolinha mas, foi minha primeira fruta!⁣ ⁣ ___⁣ ⁣ Today was another day of tests. I’ve tried to follow a recipe that I saw on YouTube to make my first ball (or head). The materials weren't the same, so I improvised!⁣ ⁣ The needle was different from the one that the teacher was using (size 2.5 on the video and mine were 1.0) and the yards weren't the same size (I still can’t measure yard sizes, but I’m pretty sure that mine was a lot thinner.). Primeiramente gostaria de me apresentar. Meu nome é Maria Luiza, tenho 24 anos e trabalho como assistente de marketing. Eu sempre tive familiares artesãs, porém, só fui começar a desenvolver meu interesse por esta área nas últimas semanas e isso tudo iniciou porque fui apresentada ao fascinante mundo dos amigurumis. Para quem não conhece, como eu não conhecia, os amigurumis nada mais são que o nome dado aqueles bonecos feitos de crochê ou tricô e não somente bonecos, mas a técnica serve para a confecção de utensílios domésticos também.

Como disse, sempre tive artesãs na família, mas nunca havia colocado a mão em uma agulha de crochê na vida, portanto, este intagram é para meus erros e acertos e minha aquisição de conhecimento até chegar a um ponto profissional, aprender nomenclaturas, ler receitas, compreender técnicas, tudo isto pretendo mostrar por aqui, para que outras pessoas que tem interesse em aprender, assim como eu, possam adquirir conhecimento e que quem já saiba, possa nos ensinar e dar dicas de como melhorar nossas habilidades.
