Oops
I will be posting August and September reviews...eventually. Been in a bit of a reading slump so I haven’t been reading much (pretty sure only one book each month but also a few fanfictions)
I'll probably post both months as one post whenever I get around to it.

The problem w writing fiction is that you'll be like tee-hee I'm going to write a story about a fucked up little scenario that's got nothing to do with anything in real life, just some pure messed up nonsense, and then you finish it and take a step back and go aw rats I made a metaphor again

July Month in Review
Tumblr media
Verry small month. I put Six of Crows here even though I'm only halfway through, but I normally will add books that are halfway or more, since I still read a lot of it.
Ok so, the Diviners. To be entirely honest, I got into a bit of a reading slump at the end of June, (and I had started playing a new game oops) and just barely read at all. The funny thing was Diviners was my filler book while I was reading Manga (Tegami Bachi) because it's harder to read manga at work than a book. I've been wanting to read this series for a while but I just...wasn't into it at this time. I'm sure I'd enjoy it more if I was feeling like it but I wasn't. And I can't read halfway through a book and NOT finish it so I picked through it the rest of this month. Not to say it was bad, it wasn't, I did get into it towards the end, but like I'd said; just wasn't in the mood for that genre of book.
Now, Six of Crows, must I say more? I live this series (maybe a little too much) and it did end up winning the poll I'd set up a while back so it was next on the TBR. This will be my 4th year I wanna say rereading it and I love it everytime. Of course I'm still only halfway through and haven't been reading too much (working on other projects) I'll probably be done with the duology in August. (And yes, I do own the collector's editions, and currently cannot find my original SoC book right now.)
That's July's month in review! Gotta love reading slumps. It happens.

June Month in Review
Tumblr media
Ahh June. A lot happened in the first half of the month and I completey forgot to do this. And then suddenly it was July. (And now it's already August wow...)
So June. Read a lot I guess. Finished on the Darker Shade of Magic series and did enjoy it. Tender Is The Flesh was actually a book recommend to me by a coworker (bc another coworker was reading it at the time and thought I'd enjoy it) Definitely was an interesting and quick read.
Anatomy and Immortality was a series I had on my shelf for a while and decided to pick up finally, which ended up not being half bad.
I also read manag in June! I had went to read Tegami Bachi way back in like 2021 I want to say but only read the first one because I had gotten busy, then never went back to it. Finally decided to and have read to volume 5 this month. Definitely glad I remembered it and wanted to read it again. I also read like 50 pages of another book not shown here (will be in July's)
That's all for this very late month in Review!

I should do more book polls here...
More about each option below
These all stem from the looking at my bookshelf. So some may just be uhh bc interesting. Bc LISTEN I have to many books I've yet to read bc I want to read them all.
1. SOCCK do I need to say more? Favorite Series right here (I may or may not have it basically memorized) and I have a yearly reread of it (like with Ranger's Appretice) I haven't read it this year yet so it gets to be an option (unless you want to count the amazing comic adaptation by @ jccatstudios bc omg it's amazing)
2. Wings of Fire Series. Saw something abt it recently and I own up to Book 13 (tho I'll get 13 and 15 if I end up reading it) + Darkstalker and Dragonslayer. Waaayyyyy back when (like at least 8 years ago) when I last read it was up to Book 8. + Darkstalker I read that one too. So technically I'd read 8 new books if I read this (15 + slayer) Bc who doesn't enjoy rereading childhood books?
3. Ink by Alice Broadway. Skin series. Interesting concept - I almost picked it up once but ended up changing what I was going to read last minute (oops)
4. Uhhh Rick Riordan. Fun Fact I've never read Percy Jackson until 2021 (and before then I thought the movies were good ;-; so bad) So more of his work bc yeah. I own Kane Chronicles and Magus Chase but decided on Kane to be the choice. Peaked my interest more than the other right now.
5. Dark/Spark I got this a while ago at library book sale and and just...haven't read it yet? Superhero esc ans such and I mean look at the titles lol.
6. Hit and Run. Been wanting to read more mysteries.
7. I got the first book off of a 'blind date' book reading thing. (Like nothing but the genre and a sentence abt it wrapped in paper so you don't know what you chose until after. I just never got around to it (I'm horrible I know) I think bc I was in the middle of a different series at that time and it got hidden on my shelf (book overflow before I got more bookshelves lol)
8. Shadow Run. I've had this for a while. Idk feels like it's gonna be a hit or a miss book but I'm adding it anyway. (And I own the 2nd book to so)
9. What If It's Us. Gay. I've been telling myself to read this series for so long and I just NEVER did. Make me do it.
10. Leviathan series. Got this one semi recently, its steampunk and the books are weirdly heavy (bc it has pictures! (Wow so amazing)) Wouldn't of gotten it if I hadn't interested me some :)
Only the first 2 options are rereads (one is semi) then rest I've never read. And please, give me book recommendations!

May Month in Review
Tumblr media
Here's May! (A week late as always even though I had it saved before oops)
8 books this month! Read quite a bit. (Only 4 fanfic this month: only a third of a book total so none there.)
Finished of the Life As We Knew It series before I had to fly out of state for family matters so I brought other books for that week. I had gotten Deeplight not too long ago and been wanting to read it but kept putting it off for some reason (there wasn't a reason I had the too many books to read paralysis) Finished that in 2 days and realized I was happy I had downloaded extra books on my phone lol. I did enjoy the story of Deeplight a lot and realized it was by the same author of another book I've read: A Face Like Glass (Frances Hardinge - my header is actually a quote from that book) And thinking back, I feel like the writing is a lot different too.
The Remarkable Retirement of Edna Fisher has been on my tbh for a bit and I finally had time to read that. Definitely enjoyed it had some fun moments. (83 year old chosen one)
What Waits In the Water I picked up before Addie LaRue because I had too much time to read (not a socialite so sitting with a book was my alone time lol) and didn’t want to finish the other physical book I had on me then. The book I went over is What Waits In the Woods by the same author (Kieran Scott) which I had read a while back and enjoyed. I had remembered about that and chose it as a quick read before I read the longest book while I was away from one. I enjoyed the twists in the Woods one and thought this one would be good as well. It was.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Read this book a few years back and loved it. Had thought about it again before family matters cropped up and wanted to read it. I read it after the other three though, because I told myself I needed to stop rereading old books and read the new ones on my shelf XD. I still wanted to read it again so I had it as a backup book in case I ran out. Which I did lol.
A Darker Shade of Magic. Same author as Addie LaRue and I enjoyed her writing (and this series was during a B&N splurge like 3 years ago and I NEVER READ THEM. These pretty books have been just sitting on my shelf for that long ;-; so I decided it was time to read. I am quite enjoying the series to be honest, halfway through the last book as of this post and still am enjoying it. (I also read around 140 pages of the 2nd book of the series but decided not to show it here because I wasn't that far in)
So that's May's Review! See you next month!

April Month in Review
Tumblr media
Only 4 this month, along with 25 fanfictions (aka word count being 3 books read there). Finished the Murder and Moonshine Series and caved and got Just Stab Me Now. I had watched the YT videos before she announced it as a book and once it was I knew I wanted to eventually read it. And it was amazing. I loved the bits that I remembered from the shorts (I ofc rewatched them all right before I read it which was fun seeing the bits that were nearly the same as in the book).
Then I've been thinking about the Life as We Knew It series again and decided to read it. When I first read it I got the second book; the dead & the gone (not included in this stack I only read 50 pages and decided not to add it for April) before I knew it was a series. Once I knew I got the rest and read them, but I swear I never finished the 4th book. And this was like 10 years ago now I wanna say xD. It's a dystopian in modern times (albeit 2000s when it came out) and now that I'm older it definitely hits different. I remembered a scene from the first book back in 2020 and how eerily similar it seemed to real life then.
I would've probably finished more this month BUT I've finally started writing with my friend again. So the whole end of this month's been filled with that!
That's April's review for you, once again late but nobody cares. See you all later for May's reading!

March Month in Review
Tumblr media
Yaay! More books this month lol. The 2 flipped books are books I don't unfortunately own, but was able to read on my phone.
Finished Gallant, definitely an interesting read. Want and Ruse are a series I read YEARS ago that I could never remember the name of when a bit from it popped into my head. Found the book and said MINE. Still as great as I remembered.
Ink & Ashes was a great read as well (had too many books to choose from paralysis and picked a few off my shelf and had a friend pick. Needless to say they chose by the prettier cover XD)
Finally caved and bought Murder and Moonshine, bc I owned the 2nd and 3rd of the series and not the first (old library books they were getting rid of, hence the clear cover and stickers). Definitely a fun series, I'm reading the final book now.
With Upon a Star interrupting the Moonshine series was because of the wonderful anime convention I went to (there is a single post about it buried on my main blog) and I finished my physical book (2 hour autograph line + being there ALL day hehe) It's the 4th book of a series I eventually was gonna read and that was the time I had. Hence me finishing two books that weekend xD.
Read 1/4 of A Nip Of Murder on the last day of March, finished it this month.
Oh yeah, don't forget the around 3 books worth of words from fanfiction.
And that's the reading for March! See you next month!

February Month in Review
Tumblr media
OK a bit late on posting this one lol
I decided to stop on Halt's Peril for Ranger's Apprentice because 1) it's a good stopping point and 2) I got The Maidens and wanted to read it. Aaaand a new hyperfixation but we don't really have to talk about that, oops.
Except we do bc I also read around 7 books in fanfiction word count (based on the Google average of 90,000 words per novel) I'd say closer to 8-9 if you count the ones I didn't add totally bc they're ongoing. Three cheers for hyperfixations! :D
And due to said hyperfixation, I only finished around 1/4 of Gallant

January Month in Review
I've decided I might do it this way (bc I am SO bad at keeping up lmao) and maybe do single posts for notable books. Without further ado:
Tumblr media
I wanted to start of the year with a familiar series: Ranger's Apprentice. I finished the first 8 books in January.
I'd finally gathered all the books myself (in the prettier old covers too!) And it's a series I love. Of course it leads to the, should I also read Brotherband and Royal Ranger as well but unfortunately I don't own them all yet, and besides, I need to read new books lol.
