it was like the guilt eating at him disappeared the moment that he felt the kiss upon his cheek.

"yeah, i suppose you're right. besides, discipline has to be taught one way or another." he would then give takeda's hand a light squeeze. "thanks, i needed the reassurance. this coaching thing still gets to me sometimes." it wasn't that he didn't think it was worth it in the end, he loved teaching the kids all that he knew, it just got a bit too exhausting from time to time. "glad i have you to calm me down."

"One can only hope. if not I guess you'll just have to let him know again." Takeda could see that this was eating at Ukai again. And he was kind of glad that Ukai was the one giving them punishments instead of himself. Because he wasn't the best at that.

Takeda nods, leaning over to kiss Ukai on the cheek.

"He will. He'll get over it eventually."

"you know, i thought that too, but do you think that he would have learned?" he wasn't the best mentor at times, but knowing his students as well as he thought he did, he was pretty sure if he didn't go to extreme measures, the kid wouldn't learn.

still, with his hand being held and squeezed by takeda, he softened up.

"he's a strong kid, i'm sure he'll survive."

"You had to do what was needed. Maybe it should've only been half of the time though." Takeda reaches out his hand and interlaces their fingers together. Giving Ukai's hand a gentle squeeze. "You had to do something though and it was lowkey kind of hot seeing you be like that."

"you don't think i was too hard on the kid, do you?" he knew that tanaka had to learn someway or another that screaming like that in the middle of the night wouldn't be tolarated, but he did feel bad about making him do those drills for the whole duration of the practice.

he would let a sigh out, wishing for the life of him that he had a cigarette right now.

"if you just want to know my type of person i'd want to date, then i guess that's fine." it wouldn't be that hard to admit when he was getting a little agitated, but this couldn't do any harm. "i guess i don't really care about gender, i just like someone for who they are, they have to show they're loyal. they have to have something their passionate about, i don't really care what it is, they just have to have that fire inside of them for something. it would be rather boring if they didn't have a hobby or two."

Well,  yeah,  that  was  bad  on  his  part,  but  he  couldn't  help  but  shrug  it  off.  Maybe  he  needed  to  say  something  else.

"I'm  not  trying  to  hook  you  up  with  someone.  trying  to  get  this  person  not  into  you,  that's  what  I  was  doing."  his  eyes  rolled.  “Really,  though,  what  if  one  of  your  friends  just  wanted  to  see?  Hell,  I'm  not  going  to  push  it,  like  I  said,  I  wanted  to  tell  this  person  you  aren't  their  type.  I  just  wanted  to  see  what  you  were  into.  trust  me,  I  know  about  having  zero  time  for  something  personal  –  my  restaurant  is  always  busy,  and  when  I  get  free  time,  I  like  to  do  one  or  two  things.”

he could get use to this. the quiet of the night, in the warmth of his bed with takeda. how did he ever worry that he wouldn't be good at this kind of thing?

so, when he felt the other get cozy back into his bed, ukai gave a smile as he leaned over to press a kiss upon his head.

"mm, yeah, that sounds great." he mused, getting comfortable under the sheets once more.

He can't help but smile at the other who yawns. Ukai was way too adorable. It wasn't fair. Allowing himself to lean into Ukai easily.

"That is true. We deserve to rest." A smile rests on his face as he nods. Happy to comply about going back to sleep. "I want more cuddles anyway."

oh great, another person who's trying to get him a date. didn't he just say that he was getting tired of being set up with someone?

"look, whoever this person is i'm sure they're great, i just don't want to go on a blind date," it was getting old. "if i find someone then great, it's just getting tiring having my friends setting me up with someone. i'm fine with how my life is right now, i don't see why people have to get in my business."

There  was  a  smile  that  was  on  his  face,  parts  of  him  wanted  to  tease  the  other,  others  might  have  just  left  it  alone.  But  there  was  a  moment  he  wanted  to  see  what  he  could  say.  He  rarely  ever  saw  other  emotions  in  him.

"Oh  you  know,  I  might  know  someone  interested  in  you  for  a  while,  they  just  don't  know  how  to  talk  to  you  about  it."  he  shrugged  a  little  bit,  pulling  a  smile  on  his  face  that  didn't  fade.  "  so,  being  the  nice  guy  that  I  am,  I  wanted  to  see  what  kind  of  type  of  person  you  where  into."

Was  he,  or  was  this  for  his  own  personal  gain?  No  one  is  going  to  know.

takeda wasn't the only one who yawned, ukai let one out as he stretched his arms only to let them fall gently around the other.

"it's not our problem tonight, we can get on them tomorrow," he was thinking about diving drills for one kid in general. "let's get back to sleep."

"Ugh, for real? I just want to go back to sleep." Cue him leaning on Ukai letting out a small yawn.

he supposed that joe had a point there, it would be nice to come home to someone at the end of a long day. but he would also have another thing in his life that he had to juggle and he felt like he was already spread thin as it was.

but he did wonder.

"where is this coming from all of a sudden? why the sudden interest in my love life?" might as well twist the converstation back on him rather than himself, he hated when people questioned things like that, couldn't people just stay in their own lane? who cared about why he wasn't dating anyone?

Eyes  stared  at  the  other  for  a  moment.  He  knew  he  was  coming  off  too  strong,  but  he  was  just  wondering.  He  always  had  this  feeling  that  the  other  didn't  care  or  anything  --  he  just  wanted  to  see  the  other's  answer,  and  for  other  reasons  that  he  wasn't  going  to  come  out  and  say.

"  Really?  Shops  are  only  open  for  a  little  while,  and  I  bet  coaching  doesn't  take  up  that  much  of  the  time,  unless  I'm  wrong.  But  I  bet  any  partner  would  still  rather  you  come  home  at  the  end  of  the  night,  even  to  spend  time  with  them  like  that."  Then  again,  he  wasn't  one  to  talk,  but  he  still  wanted  to  hear  what  the  other  said.

"our kids are causing a ruckus, that's what's going on." it was too late in the night for this.

that was the question, wasn't it? for someone like him to be single still, he got asked that many a time from different people--including his own mother. so, with a shrug of his shoulders he would answer the other.

"could be between taking care of my families shop and coaching volleyball, i just haven't had time to commit myself to a relationship. i've gotten people to set up dates for me, but i'd rather not get into a relationship until i know i can handle it." it wouldn't be fair to the other person, he knew with his busy schedule they would grow to despise him if he couldn't take time to be with them.

so, keeping his hold on the other when he leaned against him, ukai started to lead them to his car.

" 'sides, the bar wasn't very fun to begin with," and the state of his bank account being how it was, he was glad that they were leaving. "the drinks are getting too expensive there anyway."

He didn't mean to have that much to drink and he really wasn't that much of a drinker persay. But since they were out, he decided to try it out. He attempts to think about how many he had and shrugs his shoulders. "One or two I thought." His words slurring some. He felt bad that this is what Ukai was having to deal with on a Friday night.

Takeda leans into the other and lets his head rest on the other's shoulder. "I'm sorry." Even while drunk he hadn't meant to ruin the rest of their night.
