jurassic park has a good philosophical message but unfortunately the only thing i ever take away from watching jurassic park is "god i wish i could go to jurassic park." like yeah it's a blatantly obvious don't create the torment nexus scenario, but this torment nexus has DINOSAURS.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Some Hodags from around town in Rhinelander, Wisconsin! Such a cool town with Hodags literally everywhere. I’ve never been anywhere like it. This town loves their monster!

people often think i'm doing it for the bit but unfortunately i Am the type of guy who just says shit like "pray tell" and "indeed" and "naught but the human heart can hope to capture the moon's beauty" (that was actually about my shitty phone camera) and nobody really knows what to do when they hear those words come out of my mouth. myself included.

Black Shuck and the Loch Ness Monster are going to appear on a brand new stamp collection from Royal Mail. The collection as a whole features 8 creatures from UK folklore. These two cryptids are part of the group. The stamps feature art from Adam Simpson and will go on sale on March 27th, 2025.
Black Shuck is a legendary black dog from legends around East Anglia. It is an omen of misfortune and supposedly has actual deaths linked to its name. Black Shuck has a festival in Bungay, England. That is the very same town where the hound is said to have burst into a church in 1577, killing a man and a boy inside.
The Loch Ness Monster, lovingly referred to as Nessie, is one of the most famous legends in the UK. Seen yearly, this lake monster is beloved by many but never discovered. Despite numerous expeditions in Loch Ness, no definitive proof of Nessie has been found. However, the world still waits and believes.

My favorite folkloric creature as a brazilian is the Boitatá. It's a snake made out of fire that lives in lakes and that when seen by humans it will either blind, kill or madden them
More snakes should be made of fire i think
