I've been drawing nothing but boxes, character portraits, and proko hw for the last century so I decided to treat myself and do something fun and out of my wheelhouse. for the bit.

I said I've been working on head construction and aside from a prolonged break a couple months ago due to health and school stuff, I haven't stopped working on it. so here's a bunch of character portraits I did a while ago. all of em r for the big multiverse au comic project I'm working on. more to come.

MASSIVE FUCKING SKETCHBOOK DUMP #1: DRAWABOX PROMPTATHON

new post sent directly from the hands of god (me). if you couldn't already tell, I live my life in a perpetual mental fugue state,. so while I've actually been drawing a lot these past several months, I haven't posted any of it because 1. most of it has been uninteresting drawing of boxes and B. posting art on social media drains all of my life force.

anyway, drawabox is a thing I've been hyperfocusing on. and at the end of the year, they do this big thing called promptathon where you postpone all of ur hw to draw at least one thing a day for one week using their drawing prompts. and I did that. and these are that. I can't remember the exact prompts for any of these because all of them are from december.

made myself some fan merch of darbi!!! (NOTE: this is NOT for sale, it's a design I made exclusively for myself)

the road is lit blinding white, like sunlight reflected off the snow in winter. it's cold. a glance behind him reveals vacant space where his team should be. illuminated from behind, his face is cast in shadow. he turns to the light. continues forward. the space where he once was, now empty. the road is lit blinding white.

ok ngl, when I first conceived of this analysis, it was way more direct. like “the first panel establishes the mood of the page, with the lighting almost feeling overblown like when snow reflects the sunlight in winter” kind of thing. but at some point it just sort of became an ekphrastic poem. oops! but then again, ekphrastic poetry is its own sort of implicit, abstract analysis.

either way, I hope I managed to capture the emotions I felt when looking at this page. it's one that's stuck with me ever since I finished my last reread of the manga.

ok so I've been working on head construction!!! I've got tons of unfinished underdrawings that I'm not going to post, but I did do some character portraits so here!!!!

from oldest to newest: hinata, atsumu, free, and then shu. I've only had time to line the hinata one </3

I've been improving a lot so I'm hoping to do some actually finished pieces or maybe even character sheets soon!

IT IS DONE!!! sorry this took so long, I've been super busy this year. this was so much fun tho fr and I'm really happy with how it came out!!

now that this is done tho, idk if I'm going to be making any fully rendered projects for a while. I just started college and the fall season is always super busy for me. that doesn't mean I won't be posting at all (hopefully) but for now, this is likely going to be the last full piece for a while.

just to let you all know, I deleted a couple refs because I wasn't a huge fan of some of the wording I used!

I won't be reuploading them either since both characters will be getting proper character pages for my comics anyway!

shu, or at least my personal interpretation of him, has become a very important character to me as time's gone on and I've started striving to be more like him.

this piece is meant to represent how I see him, as a character who represents love and hope after having been through so much. it also features part of the shu redesign for my beyburst comic!
