would you ever consider selling promo templates in a style similar to that of that one loki blog? I really like how you did their comm and I tried to make my own promo in a similar style and it didn't come out nearly as pretty as yours

heyhey!! so, yes and no. i'd just be careful when trying to make something in similar styles to other peoples graphics or commissions. it's meant as a fantastic compliment i'm sure, but sometimes hits a little too close to the mark to be considered inspiration!! i can however see if i can make something with similar assets that doesn't completely step on the toes of the og piece, but i can't say when that'll be as i've already got another promo template in the works! thank u for the ask and for the kind words! :]

howdy gang, it's vanto here! since august is upon us and it's my birthday month, i'm putting commissions on sale for the whole month! how big a sale? you have two options: you can either pay what you can (yes, even zero dollars if things are tight) or consider everything 30% off at "'checkout"; it quite literally is up to you.

hi chan! i was trying to attempt my own graphic and i had a question: on the graphics for vision, @/unforgive, and your aurra promo, how did you do the background? your aurra promo background seems to have a negative effect and for the life of me, i can't figure it out shjkdf so i was hoping you could give a bit of help or tutorial, if that's okay? also, how did you do the circle on your lois header? and do you have any tips on how to color without using a psd? i'm trying to follow your tip of avoiding crunchy psds when making promos. for example, i want my promo to be red based, so how would i make sure that it pops? i hope these are okay questions to ask! thank you so much for all you do :)

hi!! omg truthfully as a whole these questions are a little loaded, so i'll try to answer in as best detail as i can!! answering your first: the negative effect!! i'm assuming you meant this:

while its easy to just simply invert + add b&w to your image, i tend to use to gradient map adjustment instead!! it gives you a LOT more control over the details youre seeing and customisation! the first image you can see the sorta classic inversion, but in the second, with a couple adjustment to the gradient map, the image can look super different and change my result entirely!! also, for comparisons sake, below is the inverted image with a black+white filter vs a gradient map!

the differences are super subtle, and its definitely possible to get the same effect with the back+white filter with a few adjustment layers, i just feel like messing with a gradient map gives a much more solid inverted look + gives you a lot more freedom with customisation with a limited palette. its a matter of preference and you should give both methods a try to see which better suits your editing style, but this is how i personally do it! :] i know i havent explained this in much detail which i apologise for!! but the tool is relatively straight forward and easy to get a hang of. regardless, if you have any questions or need any help, just shoot me another ask and i'll see what i can do!

the circle on my lois header was actually from a bought texture pack that you can find here!! but i'm more than certain there's similar things to find on google; maybe try something like hand drawn circle assets or pngs? hopefully you'll find something useable!! refining the search with the tools also helps!

and as for tips for editing without a pre-made psd, it's just a matter of really getting to know the tools that are at your disposal!! using clipping masks or layer masks are a godsend if you only want to edit certain assets of your image, but it's otherwise just a matter of trial and error i'm afraid! curves, levels, hue/saturation and selective colour adjustments are my absolute best friends, and i personally think that getting yourself familiar with those tools especially is a pretty solid place to start!! thankfully reds are a lil easier to work with in the sense that you dont have to worry as much about losing things like skin tones in your image, so its a pretty good colour to start off with in regards to experimenting with your photoshop skills!!

i'm sure you were hoping for something a little more than this, but hopefully it helps you out a little bit at the very least!! if you have any follow up questions or you need a lil more depth on my sloppy insight, please feel free to reach out!!

druid, do you mind my asking how you do that static gif effect on your graphics? ive seen people use it but after googling & searching, i can’t find a texture similar! :(

good afternoon luv ! 💞 after looking around for a very helpful tutorial i saw awhile ago , i came up empty . but have no fear , i can still help ! i've shortened the process by creating a smart object file here that contains a noise overlay ! available for public use !

tips : make sure the noise layer is in soft light mode . you may adjust the opacity as desired , as well as clicking on [ > add noise ] in your smart layers to adjust the grain consistency . this overlay will also work on top of gifs . ( if your gif is longer than the noise layer , simply duplicate the noise layer into the same video track to create a loop . ) whether working with gifs or still images , you'll have to remain in video timeline mode to receive a gif .

i hope this helps ! i can do a more thorough tutorial explaining how i made the smart object , if you would prefer that ! 💞

since i know i have a couple german followers / people living in germany, it would be amazing if you could support this motion by a variety of refugees' rights organisations to urge the schönefeld municipality not to approve the construction of a deportation centre in berlin airport. german and english instructions for how to take action provided in the google doc. today, may 20, is the last day that it is open to public submission. as germany has been massively deporting again, including trying to deport pro-palestinian activists against court orders, this centre getting approved would cause unimaginable harm to many.

I know I haven't been super active here, but here I come with a cry for help. Last night my home was flooded due to heavy rain. Not only did I lose some of my belongings, but the water got in through the roof as well as the light fixtures, which means it definitely damaged the electric structure of the house. There are cracks on my ceiling, my appliances are at risk of breaking the longer I use them with the damaged electricity, I've already been warned that this can very well start a fire, it's just really bad. If anyone would like to see pictures, I'd be willing to share on private, just ask me.

I'm temporarily staying with relatives, currently looking into getting all of this fixed or finding a new place to live, both of which are very expensive for me as a part-time teacher. I'm looking for a new job as well, but I don't know how long it will take to get it.

you fill out a google form here, listing details and what you'd like out of your commission

you then wait for me to contact you!! if your IMs aren't open, i will jump into your ask to give you a little nudge that i have availability, then we'll chat from there! :)

* contacting you should take a maximum of two weeks, but this shouldn't be the case for most instances unless my work week or real life has been busy! if you've since changed your mind in the time between your form submission and me contacting you, i won't be offended!
