Yeah you weirdo, lets be friends
Writing poetry at the night, listening to mazzy star, color purple, grey, deep red and green, thrifting, introversion, shoegaze, black coffee, eating your fav cookies, binge watching a show on weekends, playing psychological video games with deep lore, the notes app, dreaming about having a band, watching 90s films, rainy days and fog. The ones who get it, get it

A Guide to Coquette Noir
Coquette Noir (also know as Dark Coquette) is often misrepresented. Its not messy french girl (although much of that look stems from here), ysl it girl or any high glam, wealth focused look. Much like classic americana coquette it is messy, flirty and excels when you're thrifty!
This style is for those with a more coy and mysterious vibe and tends to focus more on cooler tones, layers and delicate details
Color Palette
Traditionally, coquette noir is cooler than her warmer sister classic coquette. Lilac, periwinkle, royal blue, soft grey, black and white are the main colors.
However you CAN wear warm tones! Jewel tones, burgundys and oxblood are the best for this style.
Patterns & Details
Coquette noir is very gamineish in the sense that theres lots of delicate details. Small patterns like polka dots and ditzy florals are perfect and hearts & french stripes look amazing. You can also look for animal patterns like cats and bunnies as those fit the best. And dont forget a nice tartan!
Details like bows, ruffles and contrast stitching are ideal for this look
Tops
Tops should be the the most structured part, with girlier details like a puffy sleeve. Keep the necklines square or sweetheart.
This is where you can really go crazy with the patterns as its the top of the "sandwich" in a dark coquette outfit. This is also a great place to add ruffles and bows and cardigans.
Long sleeve shirts are more common, but you can absolutely wear short sleeves, especially with lace trims. I also suggest having at least 3 good sweaters: a turtleneck, a regular crew cut and an oversized one.
Bottoms
Ruffles and pleated skirts are the best options, especially having the latter in plaid.
Keep the bottoms fairly neutral of patterns tho, but I do find polkadot mini skirts to be darling.
You can still reach for denim as well, just keep it in a dark wash and for jeans make sure the legs are flared if not bell bottoms completely.
Cuffed cigarette pants ala Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn are also cute.
Hosiery
The real star of coquette noir is your hosiery. Tights can be in all sorts of colors, patterns and styles and I highly suggest having 3 pairs of thighs highs and maybe 2 garter belts. The hosiery is the bottom of the "sandwich " where you can add a statement color or pattern to go with your top.
Garters add a darkly feminine touch, especially lace ones. Be sure to have thigh highs in a nude that match your skin tone as well as any other colors you may want.
The same applies to any other socks you may wear
Dresses and Bodysuits
Polkadot dresses are a must have, as well as a little black dress.
Keep the bodice a bit more structured (look for bustier dresses if you can) with a more flowy bottom.
A great cozy option is a cute body suit, i suggest the shorts with short sleeves or a regular one with long sleeves!
Its also good to gave a few slip dresses in satin and cotton.
Shoes
Boots, mary janes, and platforms are the best shoes as they go well with hosiery and you can easily switch through them no matter the weather as the platforms can be boots, sandals, flip flops or whatever you prefer!
Little details like buckles, bows, flowers etc add to the look! Even patterns like tartan are cute and fit the overall vibe.
Outerwear
Keep it slightly oversized to go with the shorter hems of your skirts and dresses. Think the song "Short Skirt Long Jacket" because thats the silhouette
Raincoats, dusters, long knit cardigans and ESPECIALLY the perfect baggy leather jacket are must haves. I suggest thrifting.
Makeup
Dark colors!!! Dark eyes doesn't necessarily mean a smokey eye. It can be richly lined eyes in purples, blues, greys etc.
Loads and Loads of mascara. If its slightly clumpy its even better, look for a wetter formula for that subtle "I've been crying" look.
Blush should be plums and purples and applied the way you naturally flush.
Lips should also be darker berries and browns and dark reds. You can go for tints, lipsticks and lip glosses.
Just be sure that if you go for a bold lip go easy on the eyes and vice versa.
Fragrances
Warm, spicy amber vanillas. Nothing sugary and gourmand. You can also do boozy scents, white florals, woody greens and juicy dark berries and fruits like things with a plum note.
Unisex/masc perfumes are also great for coquette noir bc of how unexpected it would be on such a darkly feminine person and adds a layer of mystery

“I still felt as a wanderer on the face of the earth; but I experienced firmer trust in myself and my own powers, and less withering dread of oppression. The gaping wound of my wrongs, too, was now quite healed, and the flame of resentment extinguished.”
