no more album releases. olivia rodrigo’s SOUR is out and society has surpassed the need for new music.

okay but seriously. for the whole album to feel very teenage angsty (as it should be allowed to be and does so amazingly) and then end with hope ur ok. about missing old friends and being distanced from them that it’s not the same and you can’t really find that familiarity but you still love them and wish them well and hope with your entire being that they’re okay. that even if it’s been years you hope they know how proud of them you are from the distance. how happy you are that they got wherever they wanted to go or are continuing to move forward. just the sense of all the ways distance and time can dissipate a friendship and yet they still matter so much to you. the love you have is still there. you still care. like that’s not a strictly adult emotion, but it’s definitely one that becomes more apparent and clear and common as you get older. and to take an album riddled with anger and hurt and frustration and end on something as simple and complex as love—that really love is tangled and threaded throughout the album and all the feelings of it—is so good and powerful and her ability to write about all of these feelings so succinctly and vividly!! yes olivia!! yes!
