The criticisms about how easily everyone can switch being unrealistic, how the warren shouldn't be able to know who everyone is at such a young age, how each having different friend groups that don't know of each other and don't cause friction is ridiculous etc, are just baffling to me
We're meeting each alter one at a time, we met Piper, then Harper, then Niko, and now we're gonna meet Quinn. It feels natural that now that we'll know them and their lifestyle, the following chapters will probably tackle more closely how those lifestyles interact with each other and what everyone is aware of about the other's etc, especially now that Kai got beat up by Niko's friends
The story never once claimed that they all have their outside bubbles that never notice anything or ever bump into each others. We also don't have much besides the qna about how they formed, and not really anything about how they "met", introduced or discovered themselves, how they set up the discord etc
We don't know how they figured out the whole plural thing, if they found info online or if it was self observation. If the realisation was sudden or gradual. We don't know how they dealt with the switches, how much training it took if any, if simply communicating worked and that was enough for that barrier between them got thinner/broke, or if it took more than that. We don't know how they took the news and dealt with it. We don't know what changes they started implementing in their lives. We don't know if their friend groups or teachers ever noticed anything. We don't know yet, because we're not there yet
I feel like that one post "have you ever seen a movie? You watch it and things get explained" about someone already asking for answers at the start of the movie
It's not a valid criticism if people just want answers now and are too impatient to wait for the plot beats to happen
If we get towards/to the end and those things still didn't get addressed, then it can be worth criticising
Thank you for the supportive message! Honestly I do agree, personally;;; I have a very very clear understanding of the Warren in my brain, yknow as their writer sfdjhjkdfhjdfgk, their quirks and alters and the way those alters interact follows an intricate logic that only I know about behind the scenes. It's uhhh method to the madness, I guess??? The logic is not clear to outside readers, it does at least exist though, like I swear almost everything about how the Warren presents has been carefully thought out on my end.;;; That being said, I'm definitely not a perfect writer, and the Warren is not a perfect character/representation. I was working with what I knew at the time, but also what I've learned since then!

If you put a dish in a dishwasher, it gets washed. If you put a shirt in a dishwasher, it gets shredded and breaks the machine.
If you put a shirt in a washing machine, it gets washed. If you put a dish in a washing machine, it gets shattered and breaks the machine.
Maybe you are not weak. They just put you into the wrong washer.

My grandma once told me it was weird to specify when I was talking about male foxes instead of foxes in general, lol
i myself am a person who will throw around dude/bro/man like i'm trying to bring surf back in style, but sometimes when i see people vehemently arguing that these terms are entirely gender neutral i do wanna gently take their hand like. okay but have you considered the societal and histortical reasons why masculine language and gender neutral language have so much overlap. can we acknoweldge how traditionally masculine terms are treated as a default and what that means. or are you gonna be weird about it.
#doozification#she's also the type to tell me to use he/she instead of they to be woke#because she's very woke and her ideas are not outdated and she is definitely not ableist

Pipe Up- Chapter 4, Page 8 Hey Pipe Up readers, it’s SPB. Here to announce that Pipe Up will be going on indefinite hiatus after this month ends, due to recent events. I’m very sorry to cut off mid-chapter, we will be back eventually but the team here really needs a mental health break. This might end up being a long author comment, I get very verbose when I’m stressed sorry, but I’ll do my best to keep it as brief as I can. If you plan to comment today though, I do ask you at least read this in full first. Basically, we’re opening the floor to thoughts and opinions from the readerbase (especially plural readers, but singlet opinions are also welcome). We want to know what you think of the comic, and whether you think it is harmful, or if it has perhaps been a positive in your life. Drop us a comment (or an ask if you’re on Tumblr) and share your thoughts if you have any. However, please note this, there are going to be RULES FOR ENGAGEMENT. The rules are the following: Thoughts can be positive or negative, we will respond to both (and I’ll be personally doing my best to respond to everyone who comments). But if you plan to crit, please leave CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ONLY. Please be specific in your commentary, and don’t just make pointless digs. (For example, “the scene at the beginning of Chapter 3 made me uncomfortable because [insert details here]” is constructive. “All my friends hate this comic” is NOT.) Inflammatory/unconstructive comments or threads that devolve into fighting will be deleted. Conversation must remain CIVIL even if you disagree with each other. If you straightup start a fight or are mean to us or anyone else, you will be banned. I don’t care what you have to say if you cannot say it respectfully, no matter who you are. And lastly, this is not the place to air personal grievances with ME or any other author. If you have a personal gripe with any of us for whatever reason, you are open to send me a private message and I’d be happy to try and talk it out with you. Additionally, don’t crit any of the authors’ other comics here. And before I go, I just want to comment briefly on a couple of the major criticisms that have been raised already. This is not an attempt to deflect any crits but rather, I would rather explain this one time NOW over explaining it to multiple people in multiple threads all day long. So… 1: Kai is supposed to be ableist. He is intentionally written as an ableist character. This was a key part of his design basically from the outset. The reason we include him is because the story is about ableism, and he serves as our walking example. I am really sorry that he makes some readers uncomfortable, genuinely. It’s just that, his behavior is supposed to be uncomfortable. He’s a flawed character and the point of his arc is that he grows and learns how to treat his friend(s) better. He’ll change. But depending on how people respond to this one, we may be open to making adjustments to our future script (and I may also rethink how I write singlet characters in my plural-focused stories). 2: I understand that the POV shift to Kai in Chapter 3 put off a lot of readers, including plural readers. I get that it came across like we needed to fall back on telling the story from a more understandable singlet perspective, and it gave some (plural) readers the impression that the story here is not actually about them, but rather their singlet loved ones who may or may not be affected by their condition. This was, genuinely, not the intent at all. It was a major oversight on my part and I am really sorry for that. I get that no reader has any way to know this cause the story is only almost halfway released, but the POV shift to Kai is not permanent. The POV will shift back to Piper and the Warren as of the page coming out on Saturday and will REMAIN with the Warren for the entire rest of the story. I totally understand that some people may just not want to read further cause of this and that is okay. But I hope anyone who stays will enjoy the rest of the story and the return to Warren POV. This hasn’t been said anywhere, so I don’t blame anyone for not knowing this. But the Pipe Up team is uhh… We are not an all-singlet team. Actually, most of us are some shade of plural. There are 7 of us in total (a writer, 2 artists, 3 beta readers, and a sensitivity reader). Of those people, 3 of us are singlet, 2 of us are plural (have DID), and 2 of us (myself included) are median. I get that it was assumed I am singlet because I’ve gone on the record to say I’m not plural. It’s just uhhhh kind of complicated for me specifically, because I don’t ID as plural OR singlet. I’m like this weird None Of The Above thing, the closest word I’ve ever found to my experience is median, but it’s all still a bit confusing to me so I just didn’t ever get into it publicly with the readerbase. This comic here, this story, is very personal to many of us in the group, myself included. I dissociate too. We’ve been told not to write things about other people that we wouldn’t write about ourselves… but Pipe Up, IS about ourselves. It always has been. If you made it to the end, thank you for reading this. You can go ahead and comment now. Last page of the month goes up Saturday.
