I feel like I’m such a bad person for this, but I lowk need to get it off my chest.

So I started dating my gf a month ago and before that we’d been friends since last year. She said she started talking to me cuz she liked me but I only started liking her a couple months ago.

I can’t tell if I still do nowadays…

She’s fun to talk to because she listens to what I say and doesn’t mind my info dumps abt my hyper fixations and plus, she actually cares abt them. I feel like she cares about me and makes a genuine effort in trying to get to know me and understanding my interests. She sends me long paragraphs sometimes abt how much I mean to her, and they’re so sweet and heartfelt, but I feel like when I read them now, I don’t feel what I used to anymore. Now I just feel guilty because I feel like she has feelings for me which I don’t reciprocate, when she compliments me and tells me pretty things, I don’t feel the same giddiness I used to.

Last night she told me she loved hearing my voice, and I just felt like throwing up because I feel like I can’t give back the feelings she has for me. I think she likes me more than I like her.

I feel so bad because she’s done nothing wrong and I don’t want to stop talking to her, but sometimes I feel as if we’d be better off as just friends again, since I don’t want to lose the bond we have. But I know that’s not possible because of the feelings we already had for each other.

She also has a lot of mental health issues that I don’t know how to help her with, I feel incompetent and useless when I try to help her because I don’t know what to say half the time, I don’t know how to comfort anyone and I just freeze. I know it’s wrong but it feels dreadful whenever she opens up to me, it makes me feel miserable because I don’t know what to do. She’s said herself that she’s a very depressed person and that she didn’t want to drag me down with her. I told her that her problems aren’t an issue for me and i just wanted to help her. But I feel like that was a lie, I get so depressed when she says sad things (most of the time without warning but I feel too guilty to try and change the subject). I feel so selfish because I know it’s not her fault she feels the way that she does, but it’s really starting to weigh on me now, it’s like we can’t have a conversation without me just feeling bad afterwards because I don’t know what to say.

It feels like she wants something in me that I don’t have, and I feel so selfish and horrible for that.

But I don’t know what to do, I don’t know why I feel like this, sometimes I just wish we stayed friends.
