Masaru grinned brightly at the young woman. Now that he was absolutely certain that it was Kuzuhamon, there was absolutely no need to remain careful or apprehensive. Even if they had met only once, he already considered her a friend. "D'uh, great of course! And don't tell me you expected to hear something different," he teasingly smirked, before his eyes followed her hand to the Digivice. "Ah, that's easy to--"
Suddenly, Agumon interrupted, "Aniki, who are you talking to? What about the Digimon?"
"Geez, Agumon. Way to ruin my chance to brag...," Masaru muttered annoyed, as he unclipped the device from the band and held it up, so the dragon child was able to spot the young woman. A surprised "oh" followed immediately, making the brunet snicker gleefully. "That's Kuzuhamon, she's a friend I met some time ago."
Turning to said priestess, the boy chuckled and swung the Digivice playfully back and forth. He really wanted to let his follower materialise, but as long as pedestrians passed them, it could get bothersome. What a pain. "Anyway, this lousy guy here's my follower. You've probably noticed already, but his name's Agumon." Despite the word lousy he had used to describe his best friend, the affectionate grin easily betrayed Masaru's true feelings.
Surprise, surprise.

Masaru didn't bother giving into Ginryumon's provoking words. As much as he wanted to, it wasn't worth it. The Digimon wouldn't get it anyway! So why should he waste time with meaningless words, when he had better options? Behind his punches stood a lot more than the urge to show Ginryumon who was better. He also wanted to prove something else, though... he wasn't even sure what it was. And there wasn't any time to think about it either.
Not as long as he still had to avoid contact with the blade embedded to Ginryumon's arm.
"Full talent?" the brunet scoffed, staring at the Digimon in skepticism before he started to laugh dismissively. "You're so funny, really! Do you really think ya could beat me like that?" Despite the quick step to the left, Masaru cursed when the blade was faster than expected and grazed his side, leaving a thin cut behind. "Dammit...!"
Despite the stinging pain, he wouldn't let himself rest. Not now. This Digimon needed a beating first! "Shut up, that's just my natural ability!" he shouted back, before he let himself on his knees and lashed out in a kick, wanting to bring Ginryumon down. "It's time to end this!"
Fighting wasn’t fun for the Champion level. It was more of a means of survival, fighting as hard as he could without surrender or compromise. He still hadn’t learned the important lesson, he was still caught up in his goal for revenge.
And yet he was that selfsame Digimon mentioned by Kuzuhamon. He looked young, acted younger, and was almost berserk as it was. Coincidence as it was, it still was true. Unfortunately, as some might put it, given his behavior. “That’s because Lord Alphamon doesn’t have time to deal with humans like you!” Ginryumon sneered disdainfully, teeth bared towards that pesky human even as he continued his assault. “You wish!”
Taking the brunt of the first few attacks, he soon found himself on the defense, though he kept angling his blade… maybe, just maybe if he were lucky… then he’d make sure Masaru lost the use of a limb altogether and wasn’t just hindered by the bite to his shoulder.
“Like I’d waste my full talent on someone who isn’t even worth it!” he shouted, parrying the blows he could with the blade in his arm before shoving the weapon forward in a stab. “Why not? It’s my natural ability- and it’s not like you’re “playing fair” with your augmented fists! Real fights aren’t fun!”

Whatever he had expected, Masaru found himself taken aback when someone called his name; on top of that the female voice sounded oddly familiar. Did that mean, the Digimon he was looking for knew him? Still, he remained on guard. He didn't want to get scolded for being careless again, really... Yet the sight of the approaching girl left him perplex.
This wasn't a Digimon. No. Not at all.
"Eh? What do you- Haa?" he stammered visibly puzzled, almost tempted to take a step backwards, when it was already too late. The girl flicked his forehead, and Masaru found himself scoffing lightly, rubbing the spot. "H-hey! Who do think you--" He paused abruptly, finally registering what she had said. "...Kuzuhamon?"
So she was the Digimon that had caused the alert? The street fighter wasn't if he was disappointed or happy to see her.
"Man, I almost didn't recognise you! What a way to startle me," he settled on the latter, snickering mischievously, "What'cha doin' here? Hanging out in the park again, huh?"
Surprise, surprise.

Surprise, surprise.
The park wasn't particularly busy in the late evening, Masaru figured as he wandered deeper into the area; the whole time he never took his eyes off his surroundings, while his fingers wrapped around the sturdy Digivice hanging from the necklace around his neck. The only reason for his presence was a Digimon alert --and since he had been the only one around, it figured that it was his duty to take care of this. Whatever it was, he didn't need anyone's help to get rid of it anyway! He wasn't Japan's greatest fighter for nothing, after all.
"Aniki, just let me out already! I'm gonna get that Digimon before it knows what hit it," Agumon whined impatiently from inside the device, making his partner snicker briefly. "I know, I know. But aren't ya curious? We can still fight it, after we know what it is." The street fighter let go of the Burst Digivice and cracked his knuckles in anticipation.
The signal had probably come from around here, he thought while he looked around further. Soon, he scoffed sourly. Absolutely no trace of any Digimon activity, great. Maybe he should just call headquarters... But if he returned with empty hands, that would hurt his reputation! Clicking his tongue, he turned around. "Heeey! Digimon! I know you're here, just show yourself already!" Masaru shouted loudly, before he listened intently to whatever might follow.
He just wanted to get over with it already, he was in the mood for a fight.

((Wow, I haven't been on here in a few weeks and I seriously gained new followers. ;w; Thank you.
Anyway, I don't think I'm completely back yet. I'm still dealing with health issues, however I'll try to suck it up and be a man from now on. But the emphasis lies on "try", unfortunately. Sometimes I'm just uhhh and don't wanna deal with anything at all these days, sorry.
Regardless, I'll see that I sit down and reply to the things sitting in my drafts over the next couple of days, if you still want to continue our threads? We could also start something new, whatever you prefer! I just feel bad for dissolving into thin air like this, OTL.))

Filed DATS report #00
He couldn't comprehend it. This duo acted so much against common sense that it was hard to grasp their pace of thoughts.
"And? I don't see any problems there," Masaru snickered playfully, flopping down on the highest point of a tall rock and crossed his legs comfortably. For some reason... and it was highly ironical, even he knew that, the sight of the giant tree behind the powerful Royal Knight had a calming effect on him. While he was still enthusiastic to get some action, he didn't mind the short break right now.
Besides, he still had a score to settle with Craniummon.
"But if ya wanna know the reason so badly, who am I to keep quiet?" The brunet shrugged carelessly, flashing a short smirk before he threw an arm around Agumon, pulling his partner closer. The dragon child grunted unhappily, when the other's fist came down onto his head, rubbing the thick skin in circles, yet he didn't resist, deep down enjoying his human's version of affection. "I couldn't leave my follower behind! What kinda man would I be if I dropped him after everything that happened?" Masaru started to grin as he let go of the digital being, looking up at Craniummon.
"A man shouldn't hesitate in such things."
"But Aniki's still as reckless as always! He almost got himself injured earlier when he broke up a fight between a bunch of Digimon," Agumon remarked suddenly, snickering mischievously at the dark look the boy shot him. "Shut up, I dunno what you're talking about..." he muttered beneath his breath.
Craniummon had no other choice but to watch their friendly bickering in awe.
"You abandoned your world to stay with a Digimon. It is amazing. This kind of... friendship," the Ultimate commented after a long moment of thoughtful silence. Years ago, he would have thought that friendship between Digimon and humans was impossible, but humankind was, indeed, fascinating in the way that they always managed to surprise. While he wouldn't say it aloud, he was glad for the outcome. "Yet, is it really worth it?"
"Who said I abandoned my world? Tch, I'm just waiting for them to reopen the Gate soon. Until then, I'm sticking around and see what I can do to help out," Masaru scoffed sourly and folded his arms across his chest. "Most Digimon we saw were so... wary of me. It didn't feel nice, that's for sure."
After they had parted ways with Gaomon and the other Digimon, they had been a little clueless as to what to do now. The Digital World was fairly different to Masaru's own; and while Agumon wasn't a human, he had never lived here. To put it frankly, they had gotten lost plenty of times, before they had decided to head out for the World Tree. Even with Yggdrasil asleep, they could at least take the area as a point of orientation until they knew what to do.
On their way, they had met Digimon. Naturally. However as soon as they laid eyes on the human part of the duo, they had grown wary of him, often scattered away to find a hiding spot. First it had pissed Masaru off. Of course it did. He hadn't done anything wrong, yet they behaved like he was Kurata himself!
...but then, even he began to think.
"I guess everything looks all right now, but I dunno... A lot of stuff happened, awful stuff on top of that," Masaru sighed surprisingly heavy, directing his gaze towards the sky. Too bad that he couldn't see the other side anymore. The reasons had been terrible, yes, but seeing the human world in the sky had been an odd comfort. Now he could only see the bright blue sky, noticing the lack of clouds.
It was a nice day.
"We don't have to worry about the human world, Tohma and the others are taking care of it!" Agumon added, when his best friend fell silent in favour of scratching the back of his neck. The lizard wrinkled his nose, while he took a deep breath, sighing as he exhaled. "But someone's gotta take care of the Digimon, too. Isn't that right?"
The spear-wielder tilted his head thoughtfully; his armour clanking audibly. Whatever these two were thinking, it made a certain degree of sense. However, he still found the need to object.
"I honour your ambitions, but this is a matter for the Royal Knights. A human shouldn't interfere any further."
Masaru rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue, "But ya can't do anything in this case."
"...What do you imply?"
"Isn't that obvious? Only this Daimon Masaru-sama can take care of them!" the pony-tailed brunet snickered impishly, yet his olivegreen eyes glinted determinedly. "I'll show them that not all humans are sick bastards. Someone's gotta give them a reason not to hate us, y'know?"
"Wow, Aniki! You're so cool and mature~" Agumon threw in and clasped his claws together in clear admiration, although the Digimon ended up snorting teasingly. "And it only took you a whole night to come up with that!"
Immediately, the human snarled inwardly and gave his follower a rough shove, while he muttered embarrassedly under his breath. Craniummon couldn't stop himself from chuckling dryly.
However he regarded their plans with scepticism. It was true that the actions of one single human had nearly caused the downfall of two worlds; there was no denial that Digimon feared humans. Rightfully so. And yet this one boy thought that he could ease their distrust and give them something to believe in?
It was... intriguing. But the road to such a goal was long. Craniummon doubted that they would succeed any time soon. Maybe it was even a lost cause.
But then he remembered that Yggdrasil --his own god-- had acknowledged the potential that slumbered within humankind. So maybe not all hope was lost yet. And he was merely a servant of god's will; perhaps it was he who shouldn't interfere with the boy's actions. For the time being, at least.
"Be aware that it might take years, or even longer for the fear to dissipate."
Masaru perked up, loosening the headlock he used on Agumon. "Huh?" With a look of growing surprise, the teen regarded the Royal Knight, who noticed the lack of uncharacteristical seriousness on his face. All that was left was an overly confident and determined boy, and yet Craniummon felt surprisingly calm as he continued.
"You could even fail."
"No way," the brunet shook his head fervently, before he scoffed loudly. "Even if it takes years or my whole life, if I want to be a man, I can't give up! Did ya already forget? I can fall hundreds or thousands of times, as long as I still get up, there's nothing lost!" In one fluid motion, the human stood up and straightened himself with practiced ease. "And I got Agumon by my side. Should I lose sight of what I wanna do, my follower's free to punch me in the face!"
The boy laughed in spite of everything that stood in their way. He simply knew that he could do this. Surely, his dad would do the same if he were walking in his shoes.
"Let's do this, Aniki!"
"You got it, heh. Let's prove them all wrong, Agumon!"
Enthusiastically, the self-proclaimed street fighter turned to Craniummon and raised a clenched fist, before he smirked at his startled expression. In the end, they were all the same. Alive. Full of all kinds of emotions --he was sure that it was no different to the group of knights. Except that they were a bunch of Digimon, while he was a human. "Now that all the talking's done... let's settle our score, Craniummon!"
"So this was your intention for coming here all along." The Digimon wasn't surprised at all. In a bright flash of data, Claíomh Solais materialised in his hands. Skillfully, he held his loyal spear by his side and awaited the couple's reaction, that exchanged confident glances. "This time we'll beat ya without the help of our friends!" Masaru announced loudly, cracking his knuckles in sick anticipation.
Craniummon swung Claíomh Solais, sending a strong gust of wind towards the boy and his Digimon, which nearly knocked them off their feet. But by pure will alone, they remained standing.
"Alright, now's my turn!" And with that, Masaru held his fists close to his body, while he pushed himself off the rock and high into the air.
This was just the beginning.

H-hey, I'd never slack off! A man gotta stay in shape after all. I never know when I'll need my fists the next time! -After muttering a little flustered, Masaru let out a small scoff.-
Some freak of nature thought that'd be a great idea to use Belphemon for his goals, tch. Damn that Kurata. It's a real bummer though that the thing isn't dead anymore. Beelzemon already told me that Belphemon has revived.
Tumblr media
-It really bugged him. He and his friends had fought so hard to defeat Belphemon, after all! But at least the Digimon wasn't a threat for his world right now.-
Wait, what.
Are you serious, he's a spy? -Masaru's eyes widened in surprise. Intuitively, he took a step backwards. This was seriously had to believe, but when he looked up at Kuzuhamon, he knew that there was no doubt.-
Uh... Don't worry, I wasn't planning on asking anything. That's just so... kinda overwhelming, y'know? I thought Beelzemon was just a odd one for a Demon Lord, but I'd never imagined that he's a spy. -Despite his newfound respect for Beelzemon, he did wonder why Kuzuhamon had decided to tell him something so serious.- Whatever his reasons are, they gotta be important to him.
Well, I should hope it suits me. It is part of my own name, after all. -She chuckled as well. What was so ‘irritating’ about this human that Beelzemon had been griping to her about? Then again, he was Beelzemon, after all.-
Mm, I suppose there’s a point there, but also if I’m with Bel, then I can’t quite drop things for a sparring match. He’s got to come first, after all. But you shouldn’t be slacking off anyway, right~? -And she grinned, a rather impish one- perhaps the mannerism picked up from Beelzemon, who knew?-
Tumblr media
Oh? You’ve fought one before? Dare I ask which one, or…? -She wondered if he knew they’d been revived.-
-Taking in his response, she nodded after a few moments. While the promise was a bit ostentatious, she figured that at least he meant well, and it was nice to know that he did take the matter seriously.-
That’s because it is.
Because Bel isn’t evil. He’s a spy. A double agent for the ruling entities of the Digital World, to gather information to be used against the Demon Lords. Not even most of the Royal Knights know, save for a couple. Of course, why he’s doing this is none of your business nor is it mine to tell. So you can go ahead and keep that question to yourself.

A chance encounter
Tokyo was a big city, at least definitely bigger than Yokohama. And in that city were the street already bristling and brimming with people, everyone minding their own business. So why was he here? He had absolutely nothing to do with Tokyo. His turf was Yokohama and nowhere else (though he liked to convince himself that all of Japan belonged to his turf).
At least he had Agumon to keep him company.
"Anikiiii~, I'm hungry!" Masaru heard the Digimon whine from inside the Digivice that hung around his neck. Normally he would carry it around in his pants pocket, but this way was a lot easier if he wanted to talk with his follower. "Aniki!"
"What," the street fighter scoffed under his breath, reaching for the device to look at the display. "Just wait some more, I'll find us something soon enough!"
"And when's soon gonna be? I haven't eaten since this morning!" Right on cue, Agumon's stomach growled, prompting several people to give Masaru weird looks. They probably thought he was playing around with some today. Hmpf, if only they knew, maybe then they wouldn't act like he was disturbing something. "Okay, fine! I'll hit the next spot I find, got it?"
Ignoring the dragon child's overjoyed cheer, Masaru returned his attention to the shops and businesses along the street, now and then bumping into other people. He really prefered Yokohama over Tokyo.

Lucky you, huh? But I guess, it makes sense since you're his girlfriend. And I gotta admit, Kuzuha sounds nice, heh. -He chuckled playfully.- It suits you.
C'mon, don't think like that! People are always meet each other at least a second time, didn't ya know that? And I don't mind letting the whole thing surprise me, makes everything more exciting. Besides, it gives me a reason not to slack off!
Tumblr media
Don't worry, I know that I shouldn't underestimate a Demon Lord. He isn't the first one I fought, after all! -He nods proudly at that, maybe bragging a little.- And?
-Her reaction made him pause, however. For some reason, he got the feeling that there was something serious going on. Frowning thoughtfully, Masaru tilted his head to the side.-
Impe-- what...? I swear on my honour as man...? I won't even tell my follower, or I wouldn't deserve to call myself a man! But now tell me, what's going on? You make it sound like it's some sorta big secret!
Hmm~ Not as great as Lord Alphamon or Lady Ophanimon, though. Of course, not many really are, so…
And… he never came up with one for me, to be honest. At least, not in the same respects as he  gave one to you and most everyone else… me, he just calls “Kuzuha”, which, obviously, is just my name without “-mon” tacked on the end. -Of course, she was a special case who was dating Beelzemon.-
Tumblr media
And, well, when you put it like that, yeah… But who knows how long until our next run-in is. I’m normally preoccupied with my job. And when I’m the human world, I’m generally on a date.
Masaru, I know I’m a little biased because Beelzemon’s my boyfriend, buuuut… He’s extremely strong. You are tough, I will grant you that. Just don’t underestimate him, really. And…
-Biting her lip, she debated telling him. He seemed like he was good enough to keep the secret, but then again… he also seemed like a loudmouth, and even if he had deduced most of it on his own, she wasn’t sure whether or not to confirm or deny it.-
Say, if I tell you something, would you… swear that you would never tell anyone else? Because if I tell you this, it is absolutely imperative that you don’t let this knowledge become general.
Otherwise there will be a lot at risk.

He really couldn't believe Ginryumon. If he wasn't scared, then why was he so insistent on taking him down? On ripping him apart? This wasn't a fight for fun; and it honestly pissed Masaru off even more.
Sword? What was Ginryumon talking about? He was a Digimon, not some kind of weapon! Though... it briefly reminded him of something Kuzuhamon had told him. But this couldn't be the Digimon she was talking about, right? That would be too much of a coincidence, after all. "And? I never met that so-called leader, so why should I care if you're some sword!" Masaru shot back, dodging slash after slash, attack after attack. "I'll beat you up and that's it!"
Sick of being in the defense, the brunet backed away one last time before he grabbed the teen's arm, swiftly tossing him over his shoulder. But he didn't give Ginryumon any time to recover. "That's enough!" Quickly dashing towards the Digimon, he threw punch after punch, powering them up with the help of his DigiSoul.
"Slashing around with that damn blade, is that all you can?" Masaru scoffed condescendingly, all the while keeping his attacks up. "Tch, how disappointing. You take the fun out of fighting!"
It was Ginryumon’s payback, for all that Masaru had said to him. He still could look at that and prove he wasn’t a weakling. It made him proud, knowing he’d weakened that arrogant human male before him. Maybe now he’d learn to take Digimon a bit more seriously.
“You’ll regret saying that,” he snorted as he began his assaults, lashing out at Masaru with the gleaming, katana-esque weapon. “I am not scared of anyone!” he roared. Which, of course was a lie. But then, animals who were abused were often violent towards humans afterwards. Ginryumon was no different in that sense. No matter how much more intelligent he was compared to an animal in the human world, the rules still applied.
“Yeah, you beat the others. So what!” he shouted, slashing at his opponent. “But I am not like them. I am the sword of their leader!” he announced, snarling as he continued to fight the irritating human before him. This was a matter of pride, as it was about making him hurt and pay for what he was trying to accuse the misguided teenager of. He wouldn’t lose, not to this human. He’d never let himself lose to someone he found this pathetic.
He was Alphamon’s sword; he had a title to live up to. To prove himself worthy of! A fact that had already been stated to Masaru once before, from a certain fox priestess.

Geez, why's everyone bothered by the way I refer to myself? I'm just that great! -He scoffed quietly.-
Huh... I see. That means I can't even complain about that nickname. I guess I'm a little hotheaded most of the time. Did ya get a nickname, too?
-Masaru snorted visibly amused before he shrugged nonchalantly.-
Tumblr media
Why not? It's more fun to train together. And ya said yourself that you wanna become stronger, Kuzuhamon! -Grinning contently, he nodded.- Awesome, I'll give my best then, too.
-At the mention of stalemate, the street fighter rolled his eyes. Did she really have to phrase it like that?-
A draw is still better than a loss, especially at the hands of that jerk! But next time I'll win, that's for sure! ...Well, he might belong to the Demon Lords, but he didn't seem particularly evil to me? I dunno, that's what my fist told me anyway.
And a man deserves food after a fight! Even if he pissed me off the whole time, tch.
Maybe if he stopped calling himself ‘Masaru-sama’, I will. -She gives him a wry smile.-
Tumblr media
Alright, alright, I won’t. I was only teasing you anyway, sheesh. Bel’s got… quite a way with nicknames, though, you have to admit. I think he enjoys pinning down what he  thinks are perfect traits.
To remind you of.
Constantly.
-Blinking, her eyes widened a bit behind the mask.- Really? Though you’re assuming there’s gonna be a next time. But sure, if we do, I will.
And maybe so, but that doesn’t mean you won, either~ Seems like a good, solid stalemate to me. And… hmm, he basically just told me how amused he was that you actually bought him food when he was supposedly evil.
