The main one is the whole thing of him cutting his hair at some point, I like to imagine that he cut it off either post WW1 or pre WW2, so generally around the early days of Yugoslavia. I used to headcanon that it meant a new beginning for him away from oppression but would you guys hear me out that it's because he was more able to express his gender around a bunch of strangers, or maybe they had bigger concerns after half the Serbian population got wiped to give a fuck about a croat's gender but idk

In that one piece with Austria and Hungary you can see Slovenia in a little dress which is obviously in reference to how Italy was portrayed in canon, but in that same drawing you see Dražen in specifically male clothing which I like to think he had to put up a fight for him not to put a dress on him and I guess that'd be cute

As for the ACTUAL INDIVIDUAL HEADCANONS

I image he always identified as a guy, but maybe it was a struggle under Austrian and later Austro-Hungarian rule since he was young when it all happened and he didn't know how to even express it properly so the oppressors signed him as a girl in their minds even though he wasn't. He started experimenting with being socially out once Ilija showed up under Vojna Krajina and instead introduced himself by Dražen than any other name he went by, and Ilija was 11 and stupid so he was just like Okay :D yay cicvara

He actually has a more masculine figure despite being trans, he has broader shoulders and easily passed off as a guy even before he took any surgery to masculinize himself furthermore. Though in the past he still binded with tight cloth or bandages, or he just layered his clothes more intelligently. He probably got proper top surgery in more recent years
