Tumblr media
A theoretical reading about structures set in society that empower men to participate in sexism, masculinity, bias, and discrimination towards women because of the patriarchy. Who is Scylla and why did Circe turn her into a ugly sea monster?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scylla was an ocean nymph that Circe turned into an ugly sea monster with the use of a magic flower, which is the same flower she used on Glaucos. Circe was envious of her because Glaucos wanted to marry her, even though he knew Circe loved him and wanted to be the one who married him.

Who is Glaucos and why did Circe turn him into a sea god?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glaucos was a human fisherman that Circe met when he was sailing close to the shore near Helio's halls. They end up falling in love and Glaucos admits to Circe that he can't meet her anymore because his father beats him since he was not working hard enough. Circe then decided to turn him into a mortal so he could not die, using the magic flower that turned him into a sea god.

Who is Circe?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Circe is the daughter of Helios who is the god of the sun, and Perse who is an ocean nymph. Circe has tan skin, with a pale complexion, bright green eyes, long dark hair and a rough voice. Due to those features she is seen as an insignificant nymph in the world of Gods and Olympians. Her father also didn't see her as an eligible candidate to give to someone as a wife or was worthy enough to get her own island. This then leads to Circe roaming around her father's halls waiting to receive back the same amount of love that she gives others. While everyone else in her family is in the other room telling stories, laughing, and having a good time.
