Dani had the day off and she couldn't stand being at home anymore. She always hated being there surrounded by the memories and the thoughts of what could've been. So, she went out shopping just to get her mind off things. She wasn't planning on buying anything and was more looking around the shops in Oceanview Plaza when the earthquake hit. Everything around her shook as the floor started collapsing and she barely had time to dunk as a shelf started coming down. She barely got hit, only enough to leave a bruise, but she was trapped underneath. She was about to call for help when someone else seemed to have noticed her predicament and once the shelf was moved a little, she scrambled out. "Y-Yeah. I'm..." She stopped as she looked at the woman and her face just hit her like a ton of bricks. This was Yasmin Moreno. Her home was the one Ravi was in when he died. She cleared her throat before nodding. "I'm fine." Her gaze didn't leave the woman as they stood there. @yasminxmoreno

Yasmin had been doing some back to school shopping. Though it were not necessary at all, Yasmin liked treating her teachers to something special to start the school year off. The basket was always small, but thoughtful as they went into a new year. Yasmin had just put an unwanted item back on the shelf when the floor beneath her rumbled. The item she put back and many others fell to the floor around her and she looked around. Panic rippled through the customers in sight. Shelves toppled over and she watched as the store across the way collapsed in on itself. A gasp left her lips and her immediate instinct was to help. But with what training? As the trembling of the Earth came to a stop, Yasmin looked around and when she did, spotting a fallen shelf and someone underneath. From the angle she had, they only looked trapped but not injured. "Hey, can you help me?" She called out, a man nodding his head. Yasmin pushed, trying to leverage the shelf so that the other could get out. "Are you okay?" She questioned, not yet realizing who she was talking to.

"I know." She said softly. She was thankful that Julieta wasn't like their parents that insisted on calling her every day. Dani knew they meant well, but it was hard to be asked how she was all the time. She was relieved when her sister took the bait for a change of topic and she listened as Julieta talked. "Right. I forgot school was coming up." Which meant fall was and soon, the one year anniversary of Ravi's death. The thought made her anxious so she started playing with her wedding ring under the table while she continued to listen. "So, not the nicest guy then, huh?" @julietaxalvarez
"Of course, I'm always just a phone call away." Julieta offered, as she had in the past. She never wanted to push her sister into spending time with her, but there were times in which Julieta knew that she had to step into her sister's space to get anywhere with her. "I'm doing well." She smiled, it growing as she spoke of Quentin. "He's great, truly." Julieta never liked to brag, let alone in front of her sister. "The kids are starting school again soon. I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone. And we got a new lawyer at the firm this summer." She added, a roll of her eyes to follow. "People think I have a stick up my ass," she scoffed, "then they should meet him." @danisurya

There was a sense of relief that went through her body as the man didn't seem to care about her dog sniffing him. She watched as Moose let the man pet him and then the dog backed away once the other dog appeared behind who she assumed was his owner. "That definitely explains it." Dani said. "Again, I'm sorry." She said again before pointing to the other dog. "Is he yours?" @sebastianxthomas
Sebastain had adopted a Vizsla and been going out running with him lately. A lot of the time, it was before or after work when he had the time. Today he had prept in the kitchen after he went home to grab his dog (named Pizza) and went to the park. He had run a lap, but now was letting Pizza run around and do his thing. But before he knew it, another dog came up to him, and Sebastain laughed. He didn't mind. "It's fine," he petted the dog, and soon his own came up behind him. "That would be why I got out of work, I have to smell like food," he said. He had cooked steaks, so he was sure he smelled pretty good to dogs. @danisurya.

Her gaze went to the table she knew her sister wasn't judging her, she felt slightly nervous about being predictable. She let it go, though, as she looked back up at Julieta and bit her lip. Dani nodded before taking a breath. It certainly seemed that her sister knew her. "Thanks. I appreciate it." She didn't mind the company. It was just unexpected and threw her off a little. "How are you doing? How's things with Quentin?" She asked, eager to get the conversation not on her. @julietaxalvarez
Julieta followed her sister's gaze, knowing it was the table that her and Ravi used to sit at. "It's not hard to guess," she told her sister, though her tone lacked judgement. Her gaze softened as she shifted it back to Dani, "Besides, I know you. Better than you think." The age gap between them had left many of years that the two of them were not close with one another but since they'd been living in the same coastal town, it had been easier. At least, in that regard. "I don't want to crowd you," she offered, her voice soft, "just figured you might not want to sit alone tonight." @danisurya

"So, this is a common problem, then?" She asked as she started looking over the car as well to try to help. "What did it do before this?" Dani looked over at the woman and then back at the car. "Did it just die or make sounds?" She continued to question so she could get all the details in order to figure out the cause and how exactly to fix it. Good thing she had a toolbox in her car. @colbiebowen
There was something about this car that Colbie couldn't shake, regardless of how many times she ended up exactly like this on the side of the street. It had been one of the last things her and her father had done together; fixed this car. It was a memory she was desperately trying to hold onto. Yet as she stood, flashlight on her phone shining into the motor of her car, Colbie felt like she could nearly burst into tears. She had just picked up her phone to call her older brother when she heard someone else speak, allowing herself to look up over the hood of her car. "I wish I could say yeah, but, sadly this is a common occurrence." she exhaled. "Just trying to figure out what the problem is now." @danisurya

"Yogurt is important." Dani nodded and put on a smile to be nice. Once upon a time, a smile would've been a permanent fixture on her face. Now, things had definitely changed. "You really do." She looked down a moment before she had a sudden thought. "You had a baby recently, right? I... I'm so sorry for not check in on you." The thought had left her mind with everything going on and now she felt bad. @makaylahoffmann
Grocery shopping on her day off hadn't exactly been at the top of the list of things she wanted to do. But being the mother of four growing children, and the wife of an active husband, they needed food. Leaving her daughter with her parents while her boys were at camp, she made her way to the grocery store, a lengthy list of things to get in her hand. Of course one of her kids had requested a new type of yogurt to try which was sold out except for one container way in the back, she decided to do a bit of climbing to reach it. While looking around thankfully no one seemed to noticed except for one person. Someone she knew and their eyes met as the other seemed to be getting some milk at the other end. "Hi," she smiled warmly at Dani, "and yupp. One of the boys needed to have this yogurt," she held up the container with a chuckle. "Gotta love all the dairy products being in the same aisle huh?" @danisurya

Her eyes went over to what was her and Ravi's usual sable and saw it being occupied. Her heart ached for a moment and then she looked at her sister. "Uh, yeah. That would be great." Dani sat down across from Julieta and took a breath. "How did you know I'd be here?" She asked, as if it wasn't a usual thing for her. She didn't realize others knew it other than maybe the diner staff, but she figured her sister would be observant. @julietaxalvarez
Julieta and her youngest sister had never been that close, not until Dani and her late husband moved to Kismet Harbor. The years separating them had never allowed for a close bond to be formed. Since before Ravi's passing, the two had been connecting more having the same geographical location. And then there was the tragic death that took her sister's husband from her. Knowing that Driftwood Diner was part of a regular routine for them prior and knowing that Dani still participated in said routine, Julieta found herself at Driftwood Diner while Quentin was working some overtime. She had been scrolling through a document on her phone, reading a case email that had been sent to her when she heard her name. "Dani," she could see the curiosity in her sister's face, even her tone. "I thought you might like some company." @danisurya

Dani was driving home after a shift at the auto center and was listening to music like she usually did. As she passed the entrance into Driftwood Haven, she saw a car on the side of the road and a woman by it. The mechanic turned around and headed back to the car before stopping and getting out. "Hey. Everything okay?" She asked as she approached.

Dani was out at Kismet Harbor Park walking Moose like she tried to do most evenings. It was a little chilly that evening, but nothing she didn't like. A light jacket was all she needed as she walked along the ocean. Moose, her German Shepherd/Husky mix, definitely loved the walks and moved happily in front of her. As they were walking down the path, they passed someone and Moose stopped and started smelling him. "Moose, no. Come on." She begged and tried to pull him back a little. "I'm so sorry." She apologized. "He only does this if food is around. I'm trying to train him to stop."

closed starter for @makaylahoffmann location: the grocery store
Dani had put off doing the shopping for the house. Instead, she had just gotten take out over the last few days. It wasn't until Moose ran out of food did she decide she needed to go to the store and pick up a few things. She made her way through the aisles and grabbed some usual things she got as well as a few treats for herself. She turned down the aisle to get some milk and spotted a familiar face: Makayla Hoffmann. Her heart ached as it did every time she saw someone from the fire station or even drove pass the place. She debated going down another aisle, but then their eyes met and she didn't want to be rude. "Makayla, hey." She said as she approached. "Had the same idea, huh?"

closed starter for @julietaxalvarez location: driftwood diner
Driftwood Diner had been a favorite place of Dani's since she came to Kismet Harbor. It was somewhere that her and Ravi had gone to a lot over the years. She tried to go every week as a little homage to her late husband and it was usually at 6pm every Wednesday. It had become part of her schedule and anyone who knew her would know it by now. Walking into the place, she went towards her usually booth and she stopped in her tracks as she saw her older sister. "Julieta?" She asked curiously as she approached. "What are you doing here?"
