"C'mon Ralph... stop playing with your toys. Shredder is holding April captive. " I've always been a fan of the animated TMNT movies from the 90s and was pleased when NECA toys released the Turtles from the series.. sadly I have since given up on collecting this product line as Neca's poor distribution and lack of merchandise at Target has made it all but impossible to find this product at retail. I was able to find the Turtles last Christmas by accident but have had no luck finding any other products from the line except for listings on eBay with double to triple the markup.
As a collector of toys and a fan of the line it's disheartening that both NECA and Target have little or no love for the consumer. I was able to snag Shredder and Kang along with 2 Foot Soldiers on ebay for a relatively cheap price, but I would have preferred finding said product on a well stocked Target shelf.

When Tim Burton and Warner Bros. teamed up to bring the Dark Knight to the big screen fans were in for a treat. We were given a new version of Batman, new Bat gear and gadgets, and of course a new Batmobile. Anton Furst was brought on board tonl design Batman's new ride and fans were not disappointed. As soon as the panned down to reveal this sleek new Batmobile fans knew this was one awesome car.
Although Toybiz had the rights to produce toys based on the 1989 blockbuster film, they only produced 3 figures, 1 playset, and 5 play vehicles and one RC car, one of those vehicles was a convertible version of Furst's Batmobile design. The car was a great toy for it's time and fans were even treated to a thin blown plastic shell of armor the went over the car to simulate the Batmobile armor as well as yellow rocket missiles that launched from the top of the car. Toybiz would lose the license in 1990 and the DC rights to produce action figures and other related toy products would be awarded to the than Cincinnati based toy company know as Kenner. Kenner toys was known for its very successful Star Wars line from 1978-1985 so the DC license was in good hands, and Kenner didn't disappoint the fans.
1990 introduced The Dark Knight Collection, a highly sought after line of action figures and vehicles inspired by the Tim Burton blockbuster. One of 1st vehicles tackled by Kenner was the Batmobile, Batman's signature ride. Kenner gave us the pinnacle of toy Batmobiles with 1989 Batmobile. Gone was the convertible top and large firing weapons, instead we were treated to a sleek, screen accurate Batmobile toy that looked like it jumped right off the screen and into thousands of Toys R Us stores across the world.
Kenner pulled out all the stops and details in creating this impressive toy. We received an opening canopy revealing the impressive cockpit of the Batmobile, a pop out/rotating jet flame, a firimg projectile turbine engine and the flip up machine guns that looked just like the movie. This was the Batmobile every kid wanted. Kenner even added little details like mini Bat emblems on the hubcaps to try and capture every detail of the Furst creation.
I can remember finding this beauty in the now defunct Lionel Kiddie City back in the summer of 1991 and immediately knew I had to buy this beautiful work of art. Today this Batmobile sits proudly among my many prized toys and collectibles as a symbol of true artistry.
These beauties are now very rare and extremely hard to find (especially complete). Most examples of a complete Dark Knight Collection Batmobile can run well over $200.00 with mint in box versions ranging as high as $1500.00 as seen on sights like Ebay and Amazon. Its amazing to me that something back in the day that cost $19.99 originally can now fetch prices higher than my 1st car.
Kenner would continue to produce amazing Batman related products for the 3 follow sequels, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin as well as the hit cartoon series Batman the Animated Series, before losing the rights to Mattel.

In summer of 1989 Warner Bros and director Tim Burton redefined the comic book movie by releasing BATMAN on the silver screen on June 19th. Bat-mania swept the world and merchandise for this mega blockbuster could be found all over. Fans were able to buy everything from diecast cars, candy dispensers, comic books, trading cards and more.. but nothing would top the popularity of the action figures that would be released from companies like Toybiz and eventually Kenner Toys (the same company that dominated the toy shelves with their Star Wars line between 1978 through 1985)
Toybiz released a series of action figures based on the hit movie that included Batman, The Joker, bib the Goon and of course vehicles like the Batmobile, Batwing, Batcycle, Joker Van and Joker Cycle as well as a Batcave Playset. While these figures were great toys for their time, built for play and loaded with accessories and action features the line of toys would soon pass to Kenner who would once again dominate the shelves with their addition to the Batman toy line with the hit and highly sought out line titled The Dark Knight Collection.
It seemed fitting that Kenner would once again be making the iconic DC hero as they originally held the rights to the DC Universe in the 80s and had a massive impact on the toy shelves with their much loved and highly sought after Super Powers line which featured DC's heavy hitters like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Joker, Robin, and many others. Yes Kenner toys knew what it took to make an awesome line of toys that could be enjoyed by all ages.
Kenner toys gave us perhaps the most iconic toys and vehicles to come out in the year 1990. With heavy hitters like 2 new Joker figures, and different Batman figures like Shadow Wing Batman (which looks like it's taken right off the screen in those 1st opening minutes of the film), and Iron Winch Batman (who was a great nod to the classic Super Powers Batman from the 80s) Kenner toys made sure there was a Batman for everyone and every situation.
But the action figures were just the beginning.. over the course of the next few years Kenner would pump out new versions of the caped crusader and give the fans of the line the best toy version of Batman's ride from the 1989 film.. The Batmobile. (pictures and review coming soon)
Kenner toys would continue to hold the Batman license for several years and continue the legacy of amazing toys spanning the sequel films of Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin as well the highly popular hit cartoon Batman the Animated Series. Yes Kenner toys would make sure that the toy market always had plenty of Batman merchandise for years to come until 2003 when Kenner toys lost the rights to Mattel.
Pictured above is perhaps 1 of my favorite Batman figures to come out of the Kenner legacy.. Iron Winch Batman with working winch accessory. Calling upon my love of the Dark Knight and sporting the classic colors of the both the 1966 Adam West TV Series Batman (which was my introduction to the caped crusader thanks to grandparents) and the classic 80s comic books as well as the amazing Kenner Super Powers Batman this figure had everything I could ever want in terms of details and play feature.
Yes Kenner's Batman line will always hold a special place in my heart as being the definitive Batman collection for all time

It’s important to implement rewards into a monthly life routine,
particularly when a person is working very hard consistently, or has reached a significant goal, big or small. I often used to use food in my reward system, sometimes alcohol, sometimes shopping, hot bubble baths, spa time if I can afford it. I have just realized my newest article of rewarding myself for goals reached! New Me Reward: allowing myself DAYS AWAY FROM OPENING ANY SOCIAL MEDIA APP!! And sometimes even my business email inbox. ZERO PEOPLE on this planet deserve the verbal abuse that pollutes my media feeds & inboxes. NO ONE DOES- I am 100% certain that this behavior is rampant & spreading, not just in my field of work, but EVERYWHERE!! Since there are no consequences for the direct cruelty & disgusting behavior common people unleash themselves to hurl at others, I will take responsibility for my own eyes, ears, & soul, & simply not allow myself to view the daily selfish garbage people post, to me or to others just because I pressure myself that it’s my job to do so. As a way to experience relaxation, relief, & increased health, this will now become a new part of my health practice out of absolute necessity. The new generation of aggressive, shielded from consequence, potential clients are going to drive away their favorite stars. Say goodbye!

This is a test to see how far Tumblr is looking to ban images deemed inappropriate for its viewers... This is the Michelangelo Masterpiece known as "David" which is considered to be one of the most well respected and appreciated works of art in the world... Will Tumblr ban this image based on the fact that the male genital is visible??? I'm not sure what Tumblr is hoping to accomplish by banning "certain images".. a better world? a safer world? Is Tumblr falling victim to the endless whiny unappreciative people who believe they know best? To me the human body is a work of art!!! Just like the masters of old, Michelangelo, Picasso, Da Vinci, Warhol who are considered "Masters of Art" so to are the tireless Models and Producers who live their lives in the Adult Community. If we deny the right for these "Artists" to share their work with the world than by the same right we condemn the old Masters who thought us the truth and beauty of their art as well.
