The One Where They’re Kissing

There’s something about the way he looks at her that makes her body come alive, makes her stomach flutter.

It’s confusing and frustrating and why, why does the only man that she’s ever met to make her heart pound have to be Ben Solo?

It mightn’t have been so bad if he was just working for their rival organisation or if he was simply the only person she’d ever met who didn’t get along with her friends or if he wasn’t ignoring his mother (the most incredible woman Rey had ever met) but all of those things made it hard that he was the only person who’d ever made Rey’s knees weak.

He wasn’t any good for her, she knew that, she did.

Every time they’d ever been in each other’s company they’d argued, heatedly. He made her want to scream with his smug grins and sharp wit and she knew that nothing good could ever come of imaging his face when she touched herself. But she did it anyway.

And now…

Now she was kissing him as though her life depended upon it and even worse, he was kissing her back with the same intensity.

And fuck if it wasn’t the best kiss of her life, as if it wasn’t the answer to every question they ever had.

She didn’t even know how it had happened. They’d been arguing moments before, about something she’d already forgotten and then his mouth was on hers and her hands were in his hair and they were kissing.

And kissing.

And kissing.

Her hands played with his hair as his tongue brushed hers and she smiled as she felt his hands against her back, so big they spanned almost all of it, pulling her closer.

They kissed until they stopped being angry, until they’d worked out every single little frustration they’d ever had with one another bled away, they kissed until they couldn’t anymore, until their lips were swollen and numb and they had no choice but to pull apart.

He rested his forehead against hers, their bodies remaining pressed tightly against each other, their breathing coming in heavy, as though they’d just run a marathon.

And in a way they had.

“I think,” Rey whispered when their breathing finally slowed. “I think that I could like you, if you’d let me know you. And I think that…if you let me know you, I would love you, Ben Solo.”

She felt more than heard the hitch in his breath, the flex of his hands against her back. “Rey,” he breathed.

“Let me know you, Ben. Please let me know you.”

He pulled back then, his coffee coloured eyes full of wonder and awe and fear as they gazed into her hazel ones.

“Everything worth knowing about me starts with you, sweetheart. I’m not sure what more I have to offer you,” he hated telling her that, but loathed himself even more because it was true. He’d destroyed almost everything good in his life.

She smiled at him then, so widely her cheeks almost hurt. With lips swollen from his kisses and flushed cheeks, he thought that she was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.

“Then we have a lot of work to do,” she told him.

“Anything,” he replied. “I’ll do anything.”

They both smiled then, because they knew he meant it.

why is it ok for films like life is beautiful which was nominated for a damn Oscar to use WWII as a plot device but not okay for someone to write a fanfic using it.

Films like ‘Life is Beautiful’ and ‘The Boy in the Striped Pajamas’ that provide fictionalized accounts of the Holocaust have been subjected to intense criticism about their perceived trivialization of historical trauma so I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here. Those films are deeply controversial for a reason, and the proposed fic in question would be in extremely poor taste.

and then turn around and ignore shippers of color because they disrupt our tidy narrative about how Right & Good we Reylos are.
