My old chess days...
I just came across this old page from way back in 2009 when I first joined Hebden's chess team. I was the only winner that day, the memory of which has thankfully been immortalised digitally by the Hebden Bridge Times newspaper.

Chess: C claim club win
Published on the 25 September 2009 17:51
HEBDEN Bridge Chess Club's first second division match in the new Calderdale Evening Chess League season was held on Monday evening at the Trades Club, between the club's C and D teams.
The result, a 4-1 win to the C team, was largely as expected, except for Terry Sullivan's fine win on board 1 against John Kerrane, the D team captain. Terry, despite being out-graded by 15 points, was in control from the start and achieved an overwhelming position in the endgame, at which point his opponent resigned. The D team's only compensation was a very successful debut by new player Darrell Roberts, on board 5, who scored their only point.
The individual results (C team first) were: T. Sullivan 1, J. Kerrane 0; S. Priest 1, I. Wilinsky 0; D. Pugh 1, P. Rawlings 0; N. Bamford 1, B. Fernley 0; D. Crampton 0, D. Roberts 1.
The second semi-final of the Calderdale Summer Individual knockout competition was won by Martin Syrett, who overwhelmed Dave Wedge with a piece sacrifice in a King's Gambit, despite Dave's renowned ability to play well in time trouble. Martin now faces Jon-Paul Ellis, also of Hebden Bridge, in the final.
