Forgotten Protagonist
40 posts
My name is D'artagan Galochio. I'm a young runaway with psychic powers. I'm not sure what I'm doing in life right now, but I hope that one day I'll find the right path. [Independent fan ask/RP blog for D'artagan, the abandoned protagonist from "Psychonauts". Crossover and OC friendly. All RPs PG-13 and under.]

"Aquato?" He feels like he knows that name from somewhere..."Were you in the same circus as we were? Because I'm so sorry I don't remember you - Mom and Dad didn't really let me play with the other kids because-" Then it hits him.  His eyes slide wide open. "I am so sorry," he whispers. He shouldn't know that name. He only knows it because he disobeyed his parents. Because he watched silently from the other room as his grandparents, his mom and dad, his aunts and uncles, all gathered in the living room to cast a curse.
ℜ ➳ 〈 "Aquato." He replies, simply— sure the other will recognize the name.               "I think you know how I know."  〉

"Y...Yeah," Dart is taken aback. "How did you know? Is my family that famous?" He smiles. "What's your last name? I might have heard of your act too!"
-
"My parents were our show’s mystics," Dart nods. "Y’know, fortune-telling, palm-reading, mind-reading, that sort of thing." He tilts his head to one side. "Acrobatics is way cooler though. My parents always hated acrobats for some reason, but I think they were just jealous."

"It's clairvoyance," he said. "It lets me see things most people can't." Dart squinted, though his physical eyes had no bearing on his psychic sight. What? What was wrong with this place? Under the influence of clairvoyance, it all appeared to be made up of - numbers? Computer code? "Woah...Wait, you said this was a game?" The eye vanished from his forehead and he turned toward Rick.
"Hi, welcome to Sugar Rush!" Rick smiled, leaning n his guitar.
"What IS this place? And why is it candy?" Dart’s eyes widened. Candy everywhere? How was this even possible? "And who are you?" He felt his hand drifting upward but forced himself to stop. He couldn’t use clairvoyance in front of a stranger.

Okay. That comment was so ridiculous that it managed to snap Dart out of the beginning of a panic attack. He forced himself to let go of his hat. "Ice cream? Really?" Sugar had been a rare thing in his household. The idea of entire PILES of ice cream was exceptionally foreign. He glanced around at their surroundings again. This place wasn't exactly normal. What harm would it do to use his powers? He ignored the nervous feeling rising in his stomach and placed two fingers to his temple. A psychic projection of an eye appeared over the center of his forehead.
"Hi, welcome to Sugar Rush!" Rick smiled, leaning n his guitar.

"Oh, okay," Dart nodded, deciding to let it go. He considered the other boy's words. He was quite sesquipedalian, but seemed genuine.  "I guess there's no harm done."
Surprised but intrigued by the almost parental tone Lucas suddenly took, D'artagan almost missed what the blond said. "Wait-" the implications hit him. "You mean you-" he drew in a breath. "You have-"
"It’s not really your fault," he said, smiling reassuringly, "I was just being slightly clumsy is all." The blond let his hand fall back to his side after the other let it go, "Besides, I wouldn’t consider myself hurt from something as small as that."

"We all make mistakes; it’s nothing to beat yourself up over," he reassured the smaller boy, "I just did the exact same thing, actually. I apologize about that."

"Awhile," Dart grimaced, tilting his head to one side. He rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand. The boy tried to calm his nerves and focus on spinning a useable falsehood. "My grandma lives out in the middle of nowhere in the woods. Mom and Dad and I are visiting, but I went outside to explore and got lost. It's been about two days?"
"Hi Wendy," Dart smiled. "Well, I'm from out of state." That was no lie. "What about you? Do you live here?" He tried to keep his expression as friendly and open as possible. The trust of a local was worth its weight in gold, and Dart intended to obtain it.
"You’re in Gravity Falls, dude. How long are you been lost?" Worry flashed across her features—Gravity Falls wasn’t near any other cities or towns. The thought of the kid wandering around for God knows how long, with everything in the forest surrounding the town, sent chills down her spine.
”I’m Wendy. S’cool to meetcha, Dart. Where are you from?” Wendy offered him a small smile, keeping her distance. She knew her lanky frame intimidated younger kids and she didn’t want to terrify the poor kid by towering over him.

He shook Lucas's hand, now more confident in his deception. "You too, Lucas. Sorry again about earlier." Perhaps this was a fortunate occurrence. The other boy seemed friendly enough. Maybe he could give him some helpful information on the area.
"Oh, well," Dart was taken aback. "I just - it's my fault you got hurt, really," he said. "I ah, should have been much more discreet about using my abilities." Dart still had strong suspicions about the boy's phrasing, but confirming those suspicions would take time and tact.
"Ah, I’m Dart," he said, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in his stomach. Really, what harm was there in giving the boy his nickname? It would only be a problem if anyone found out his last name. The Galochio family was quite famous, almost to the point of being an urban legend.
"Oh, well, as long as you’re all right," D’artangan said awkwardly. How did this kid know so much about falling? As Lucas continued speaking, he froze. Something about the other boy’s turn of phrase made him stop. It sounded too close to his thoughts. The last time someone had cut this close to his internal monologue was the last time his parents had read his mind.

"A...A game?" Dart found himself wringing the end of his hat in his hands. He supposed it was better to fidget with his hat than slip up with his psychic powers. He didn't like this at all. Games were usually a bad sign. "R..Rick?"

"Uhm-" Dart swallowed. This reaction wasn't what he was expecting. "Well - I can do this," he said, lowering his hands to show a projected third eye over his forehead. "It ah, it lets me see through someone else's eyes. And I move things around with my mind." He wasn't about to use telekinesis. It was far too draining for a simple display.

“Psychic––?” Blond head tilting to the side, a brown was arched.         “In what manner…?” He was aware of psychic abilities, yes; his          people were sometimes blessed with such abilities: Foresight,          conversing with spirits, the ability to read auras –– he himself          only possessed the two latter (and at times, he was grateful for          that; those two were enough hassle, in his opinion).

"I...I'm a psychic-" Dart blurted out, trying to cover the bright projection of a third eye on his forehead. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you could see me!"

weeniecorduroy:
Too late, Wendy realised she might have been slightly too loud. It wasn’t the first time she had startled someone. She hoped she hadn’t made too bad of a first impression. She had no idea who she had just called out to, but nothing weirdly supernatural had happened, so it probably wasn’t a monster. She hoped.             She offered him a sheepish smile as she walked closer to him. She could see not that she had stopped a kid roughly the same age as Dipper, if not a bit younger. She stopped a few yards away from him, giving him some space. Her maternal instinct to help kicked in at once. “Nah,” she shook her head. “You seemed lost and I thought I might ask if I could give you a hand.”
Trying to think quickly, he nodded. "Yeah, I am a bit lost. Do you know where we are?" He had been technically lost for several days now, and he desperately wanted a concrete geographic location. And maybe a map.  "I'm Dart," he smiled, wishing he had had time to use clairvoyance on the girl before their conversation had begun. It was always easier to act when you knew how people viewed you. "What's your name?"
