Adam giggled brightly as Lee reached up to tug him down to his height, letting the sound be swallowed up by Lee’s lips. It was finally done! It was real and done and they were finally married!

It took every bit of his willpower not to let their tender kiss turn into a full-on makeout session. Not in front of his grandparents! Maybe later. After the reception.

The kiss gas tender and soft held for a few more moments, hearing everyone clapping and Lee’s parents giving a whistle. He pulled back for a moment, giving Adam a warm smile before turning to the others.

“We have a reception down in the ballroom out back. Everyone head on over and we will meet you all there in a few minutes.”

She clapped a few more times before walking to Layla’s side and walking her to her mother’s seat with the two sleeping babies. The photographer taking a few more snaps of everyone before packing up to move to the other location.

Adam’s whole body was buzzing from the rush of saying those words out loud and nibbled his lip with a wide smile as Lee slipped the wedding ring onto his finger. He quietly admired the ring, the same one he’d admired in the jewelry store not too long ago.

The priest quietly prompted Adam to return the gesture and he nodded, quickly picking up the matching, slightly larger, ring and slid it gently onto Lee’s finger.

“With these rings, may your souls be bound, from now until eternity. The Lord as our witness, I now pronounce you.. husbands and partners for life.”

He felt the ring slide on perfectly. Looking down at Adam’s hands as he put the ring on him. Hearing the priest start up the ending of the final announcement. His eyes gazing up at Adam’s when the word “Life” was said.

“You may kiss your husband.”

A unique ending for them, given the circumstances… but Lee quickly reached up to pull Adam down for their first kiss, married at last. How he SO wanted the foot stool now… but this was okay still.

She held her hands to her face, hearing the last words spoken before she watched them kiss. Clapping with such joy.

Adam blinked and stared at Lee in awe and wonderment. Those words.. so beautiful and heartfelt. It made Adam’s heart flutter, his face warm, and his eyes moisten with the hint of tears. Joyful tears. There were soft ‘aww’s of approval from their small audience, as well.

When Lee was finished, the priest turned to Adam, prompting him to read his own vows.

“O-oh! Um..” Adam blushed brighter and fumbled awkwardly, plucking out a little card that had been tucked away into his bouquet, “Uh… I-I’m not sure I can.. m-match what you just said, but uh.. here goes..” he mumbled, before taking a deep breath and reading off the card.

“Lee.. *ahem* …you are my.. my best friend. I love you.. completely a-and without question.” His voice cracked nervously on those first few words, but he recovered quickly and pushed ahead, “I promise to always be your biggest fan and your partner in crime. I vow not just to grow old together, but to grow together. Today, surrounded by people who love us, I choose you, Lee, to be my partner. I am proud to… b-be your husband and to join my life with yours. I will love you and have faith in your love for me, through all our years and all that life may bring us. Let us be partners, friends and lovers, today and all of the days that follow.”

Adam glanced up shyly from the card to look at Lee, a nervous smile on his lips, his eyes seeking for approval for his shorter partner.

He was staring in awe. He wanted to chuckle when Adam had mentioned partner in crime. He was beaming when Adam finished. Seeing that shy smile and beautiful eyes.

The priest continued as soon as Adam finished, calling Adam’s little sister to bring the rings over to them. Starting with Lee, taking Adam’s hand in his.

“Is there anyone here who does not wish for these two to be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace.”

It was silent.

“You may now place the ring on your partner’s respected fingers.”

Lee took the ring Adam picked out earlier and gently slid it on his finger. Soaking up how it looked on his hand. Finally.

She had to wipe more from her face. Noticing Layla was as well holding a tissue in her hands.

Adam took Lee’s hand, bouquet of pink rose clutched in the other. He kept his eyes on Lee, completely tuning out the rest of the assembly as the nervousness melted away. There was only Lee, only this moment.

Lee began to calm down. He was so happy this day had finally come for them both. He was lost, staring at Adam for the moment until he heard a faint cough. He blinked up and saw the priest was looking right at him.

“… Your vows?…”

Vows?… OH RIGHT! He reached in his coat, where Sass had pocket the paper for safe keeping earlier. There were a few giggles in the audience. that was always a good sign.

“Yeah oh um sorry heh…” He unfolded the paper and returned his focus to Adam. “ I, Lee, choose you Adam to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, trusting what things I will discover. I will respect you as a person, a partner, and an equal.” his voice had cracked for a moment. it wasnt that he was nervous… more just caught up in all the emotion and love in the room… yeah that was it. “There is little to say that you haven’t already heard, and little to give that is not already freely given. I marry you with no hesitation or doubt, and my commitment to you is absolute. I love you unconditionally and without hesitation. I vow to love you, encourage you, trust you, and respect you. As a family, we will create a home filled with learning, laughter, and compassion. I promise to work with you to foster and cherish a relationship of equality knowing that together we will build a life far better than either of us could imagine alone. Today, I choose you to be my husband. I accept you as you are, and I offer myself in return. I will care for you, stand beside you, and share with you all of life’s adversities and all of its joys from this day forward, and all the days of my life.”

It was a mouthful… but he meant every word… and lord was it hard to keep Adam from seeing this little paper weeks ago. It would have spoiled the surprised look he was expecting from Adam… and there it was.

She was beaming, hearing the whole thing and getting a front view of Adam’s face as she listened to what Lee had to say.

Adam smiled shyly at Lee up at the front, walking slowly with his dad. Soon they were both at the front, and James let go of his son’s arm with a nod to Lee before taking his seat with the rest of the family.

The music stopped and the room went quiet again as Adam stood across from Lee, smiling shyly and staring at him like he was the only thing in the whole world.

Lee was speechless. He took Adam’s hand when James handed him over and walked with him to their places where the priest began his speech. He couldn’t hear anything. His focus was ALL on Adam. It didnt even bother him that he literally had to look up at him. There was a joke that they were going to get a colorful step stool for Lee but decided against it. That would have given a few laughs though.

She watched them walk to the front. She noticed the look Adam was giving Lee and could tell Lee was returning the gaze. hearing them start, she had to wipe her eyes for a moment. this was going to be a long emotional ride.

Once the music started, everyone went quiet as they waited.

Adam stood outside the doors with his father, fidgeting nervously with the dress. He heard the music, but was hesitant to go inside. Oh, why’d he have to wear the dress?! Everyone was going to stare at him!

“Nervous?” James asked, placing a hand gently on his son’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry, dad..” Adam mumbled sheepishly, “I-I should’ve wore the suit-”

“No.” James interrupted, “This is an important day for you. You should wear whatever you want. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing.”

Adam looked up at the man, surprised, “R-Really?”

“Yes. Now.. everyone’s waiting. Are you ready?”

Adam smiled and nodded, taking his dad’s offered arm. James smiled back, opening the doors and slowly walking the boy down the aisle.

He stood at the front. Hearing the music pick up and doors opening, in walking the twins first, dropping flowers down the walk way. This… this was real. It really was happening. One of the girls dropping the flowers and the other holding a pillow with two rings. Two very familiar rings that they had picked out earlier. Adam had no idea Lee had gone back to purchase them.

And then in walked Adam and his dad. His heart stopped for a moment. He wasnt sure if he was going to cry from smiling so hard or just smile really hard in general. He was wearing the dress.

James was smiling…. JAMES was smiling! Adam was smiling!!! He wasnt angry at Adam’s choice! This was perfect! the family watching them were also smiling. There wasnt a negative reaction in the entire room.

He waited for them to reach the very front.

Sass had to hold back her bubbly squee. Adam looked SO so happy. Everyone was happy! Adam was worried for nothing and looked ADORABLE walking up to his soon to be legit husband. James was smiling... that... admittedly was something she wasnt use to seeing.

The girls grabbed their baskets of flower petals eagerly and made their way into the main hall. Adam stayed behind with his father, waiting until it was time for them to enter.

The twins bounced excitedly, waiting for their cue to start.

He took a breath and directed at the person sitting at the organ, ready to play for them to start.

She quickly took her place up front with Lee, hearing the music start up and stood to the side with Layla. Her mother in the audience with both babies so they could stand on either side of the front, Sass standing on the side of Lee’s and Layla on Adam’s.

Adam the twins hurried inside, smiling brightly at their dad.

“We’re just about ready to start, so you can go ahead and go inside.” James nodded to Sass, then turned to the twins, “You two, your baskets are on the table over there. And you..” He finally settled his gaze on Adam, a slight frown tugging at his lips.

“Um.. th-they insisted..” Adam mumbled sheepishly, smoothing down the dress awkwardly.

James sighed and nodded, “No time to worry about it now. Are you ready?”

“Um.. y-yeah. I’m ready..” he smiled shyly.

His heart about lept out of his throat when he saw Sass pop through the door and close it behind her. He noticed her smile. He watched her walk on to the side, calling him over.

He found himself walking over.

“… is everything alright?” he found himself whispering.”

She gave a small laugh, straightening his tie for him. “Yes yes yes...” 

She gave him a grin and tucked a small paper in his pocket for him.

“You left your vows at the apartment... Go get in place. were ready on the other side of the door.”

Adam smiled as he climbed out carefully, “Yeah.. it’s perfect, isn’t it.” Gathering up the skirt, he made his way toward the building, his sisters following behind excitedly.

James waited impatiently in the entry hall of the chapel, keeping an eye on the time as he waited for Adam and the girls to arrive.

He tried so hard to calm his breathing. He was noticeably stressing about the whole thing and was instructed to calm down by his adopted mother who had given quite a chuckle at his actions. Adam’s family had also noticed his mood and gave him some calming words.

He wasn’t so worried about the actual wedding anymore but now more so if Adam was going to be happy with this choice. Had they moved too fast? Was he really happy being with him?

Wait how could he doubt him?! He knew how much Adam wanted this. He too had butterflies about it but Adam had calmed him down a few times as well, making mention how much he was excited about it.

He was about to make a few more rounds to make sure everything was in place when he was called over by the priest who was there to marry the two boys. Giving him the mention that Adam had arrived.

Just on time.

Sass opened the doors to let Adam in and saw Adam’s dad waiting for them. The doors to the main walk way closed for others not to see then just walking in. 

“Oh um... should we take our places?” She held  the door for Adam and his sisters. “Is everyone here?”

“O-okay..” He moved back to Sass, “We’ll, uh.. do that.. then I gotta put on some shoes and.. w-we can get going.”

“Yeah, go ahead and let everyone know we’re about to start. I’ll go keep an eye out for Adam. When he gets here, we can start the ceremony.” James patted Lee’s shoulder again before heading out.

He nodded and headed out to the larger room with everyone. Greeting his parents and seating them in their seats.

She wasted no time in fixing his face up with just a little shine and before you knew it, they were loading up in Sass’ car and on their way.

outside of the chapel was beautiful. 

Sass blinked, pulling up and parking the car. Taking it all in. “Dude.... its so pink!”

"I think so. Just a little. Come here. Ill put it on and we can go get you married!!!!" That last bit came out as a small squeak.

“Prince in a dress… wait, glitter? Under my eyes? Sounds like a bad idea… glitter gets everywhere and I don’t need it getting into my EYES..”

“You’d actually look decent if you cut that mess down to a reasonable length.” James continued, “But, I I’m glad you agree.”

He gave one more chuckle. “Heh… well… i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised then. What time is it?”

She laughed. “No no just a little shimmer. Like me.” She pointed to her cheeks. They did shimmer a little. Almost like shimmer in her blush.

“Oh.. you think that look.. good?” he asked, moving back to the mirror to look at his reflection.

James looked down at his watch, “Hm… almost time to start. Adam and the girls should be here soon.”

“Thanks..” Adam smiled, adjusting the front of the dress and smoothing down the skirt. He fussed with the small pink ribbon bow at his hip, then reached back to fluff the giant bow on the back.

“H-how do I look?” he asked Sass, finally turning around to let her look him over.

James eyed Lee for a moment, “Hm.. you actually look rather.. presentable.. aside from that hair, of course. You really should cut it, y’know.”

“Ya think?” He fluffed his hair a bit. “Was thinking about cutting it after the wedding… new start ya know?”

She beamed. “All you need is a little glitter under the eyes and you would be a bonified princess… Well… prince.”

“Prince in a dress… wait, glitter? Under my eyes? Sounds like a bad idea… glitter gets everywhere and I don’t need it getting into my EYES..”

He chuckled. “Yeah. Just about.” He turned to grab the coat and slipped it on. Fixing his hair and giving James a pose. “What do ya think?”

She reached back behind him and slipped the zipper up his spine. “Just right.”

“Thanks..” Adam smiled, adjusting the front of the dress and smoothing down the skirt. He fussed with the small pink ribbon bow at his hip, then reached back to fluff the giant bow on the back.
