Class 4: Homework 2: Grow your Twitter
Tumblr media
I have read about a bunch of different ways to gain Twitter followers. Engagement and hashtags were a large part of sparking interest in your page. I have listed some other ideas below.
Pin your best tweet to the top of your page
Perfect your bio
Have a picture associated with your twitter… show you’re a human.
Get verified: from what I read regarding this is that the account has to be of public interest. However as of July 2019, there has been a hold on getting verified.
Include your twitter handle on your emails and business cards: This tells people not only what your business does, but how to find you on social media.
Use Twitter buttons on your website
Don’t tweet excessively
Tweet Consistently
Retweet yourself
Hashtags
I think hashtags are a great way to promote yourself on any platform that allows them. It creates a secondary page, if its not already created and shows your image or text.
As a business, getting verified is a great idea, its shows that your human and not a fraudulent business.
You can also purchase software that will send tweets out for you that pre-set.

Class 4; Homework 2: Growing my Facebook followers.
In order to grow your followers on Facebook, there are several things you can do.
 1.      You can run ads
Tumblr media
2.      Invite people to follow/like your page
3.      Create content people would be interested in
4.      Know your audience
5.      Know your targets
6.      Experiment with Facebook live
7.      Partner with an influencer
8.      Automation tools
Tumblr media
9.      Using hashtags
Tumblr media
However, this is primarily used for a business type Facebook page to promote your brick and mortar store or an online presence. I wouldn’t use this for a personal Facebook page as I only accept people I actually know. I don’t want random people on page knowing my personal business.

Knowledge Tokens
Knowledge Tokens or “Knowkens”
This is basically virtual money to entice students to participate in digital academics. They can use the Knowledge tokens to purchase things like VR headsets, conference, training sessions, certificates, and much more. The knowledge tokens incentive is a good way to spark an interest that someone may not know they even have. They get involved in a digital program to see what the knowledge token is all about. To me this is a no brainer to bring in new people and introduce them to the technology world. This is also an idea situation for someone who has been involved, to be able to get involved in something you already have an interest in and to be rewarded by being able to use the knowledge tokens to get more training or even better…. A certificate in something that they will use and compliment their career of choice.
I think this creative way of teaching and rewarding students that will keep their interest and allow it to grow. I think this can be used for kids as well as adults. I think everyone needs a little incentive to keep striving in this field. This field never stops, technology keeps getting bigger and better daily. As Humans, we  need effective tools to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology.

Class 3, Assignment 3: Minecraft Interface Fundamentals
Playing Minecraft is not easy. I found the way you control it can become annoying, I went underwater and almost died trying to figure out how to swim back to the top..... this was the first 3 minutes of the game. However, Ii was able to build a safe home...... however it has no lights..... or bed! My little block guy was awake for 5 days and I never fed him lol.
Tumblr media
The control portion of the game seemed easy to figure out when looking at. but I found it a bit more complicated to actually use the controls on the keyboard, maybe because I haven’t used a computer game in a while. The explanation above did help in the sense of what I had to press during game play.
Tumblr media
As I was gathering wood to build a home and exploring the world, it got late, nightfall was on its way. I had to quickly build a cave and hide out in there for the night. Thankfully no one found me.
Tumblr media
Morning came and I stepped outside...... and well the zombie looking guy was waiting for me. I put up a fight and lost miserably.
Tumblr media
This is the inside of my house. I have no lights and I have yet to figure out how to get lights. I searched for coal. No luck finding it. I only have the crafting table inside my house, I still h ave no bed. I will remain positive about my minecraft life. :)
Tumblr media
This is the outside of house. It’s a very small house, but serves it’s purpose in keeping me alive at night. I have a non-functioning furnace outside the house. However when I tried to get a screenshot of it. I had 2 minutes left in the game, got killed, and couldn’t find my house. The struggle is real folks! ;)

Class 3, Assignment 5: My Hardware Review
Tumblr media
I chose desktop computers because I work with computers daily at my job as a Network Admin. The desktops I use in my work environment are HP ProDesk 600 G4 Mini along with some of the younger generations G1 and G3. Some of my duties at work are to change out the HDD in the event if they fail, add RAM, software rebuild, and creating profiles. Also wiping them and reinstalling the OS is a huge part of my job. Not only do I use computers in my work environment, but I use them daily at home to keep track of my bills and how/when they are paid, do homework and connect with my class, and run my online business. Desktop computers and laptops are a huge part of my life…. Too be honest, I think there a huge part of everyone’s life these days.
These HP mini PCs range anywhere from $350.00 to $1200.00 depending on the generation, core and RAM installed. The basic model is an i3 with 4GB RAM. Most people think a computer is exactly what they see when the take it out of the box. They don’t realize that a computer is basically a black screen with a cursor and the interface they see is the OS. A computer doesn’t do all that much without an OS and all the software that goes with it.  Desktop computers give you the power to accomplish almost anything with the right software installed. Using a computer allows you to create and save documents, use different types of software that can make personal life and work life a little bit easier and organized, play games and surfing the internet…. Just to name a few.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mini computer’s have a few competitive products. Apple recently came out with the MAC mini. These run iOS for the operating system. Apple also has a completely different interface and works a bit differently that a windows PC. These start at $800.00 and go up to $1100.00 depending on the model. There is also the ASUS Chromebox that runs the Chrome OS which is a Linux based OS that is an open source system. Open source means that by design the OS can be modified and shared by its users.

Class 2, Assignment 3: Virtual Reality (VR) headset
1. Dad Attends Birth of Child in Virtual Reality
youtube
This video is about a mom who is in labor, while this is a very special moment for her and her growing family. Her husband, the father is almost 2500 miles away at work. He is unable to attend the birth of his third child in person, but because of the wonderful technology we have today, he is able to be there virtually.
Tumblr media
The above picture is showing the mom in the hospital room and the dad attending by wearing a VR headset, they have video set up in the hospital room so both mom and dad can communicate and see each other like he is in the room.
Tumblr media
This picture shows the couple seeing each other for first time since the birth and dad seeing his newborn son for the second time, this time it’s real life.
This video is extremely powerful. This technology takes two people, one being miles and miles away, and their unborn child and brings them together for a special moment that will be tattooed in their memory for the rest of their lives.
2. Microsoft HoloLens promises to change our world. Will it?
youtube
This video is about holograms becoming a thing of the now, instead of things we talk about that may be in the future. Imagine watching a movie on a holographic television, or creating a design, or teaching little ones they way of the world by these holographic images?
Tumblr media
This picture shows a how-to-video, but by actually pointing out the next step by using holographic arrows in real time.
Tumblr media
In the picture above a woman is at work, she is adding things to the motorcycle by using holographic technology. She is customizing the motorcycle and seeing exactly how it will intensify the motorcycle in real life form.
This technology will allow us to work differently, collaborate differently, share ideas differently, teach and learn differently, and of course entertain differently.
3. HTC Makes a Surprise Virtual Reality (VR) Headset
youtube
This video shows how we can explore different parts of the world through a lens using the VR headset. You can see the things that you wouldn’t dream of seeing, you can teach people about the way of different cultures, history in other parts of the world, you can even visit places you have always wanted to see. This is an amazing technology that can bring so much excitement and knowledge in just minutes of wearing the headset.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This video is very cool. The video shows you what our world is becoming and how much we can accomplish with this up and coming technology. We can use this technology for so many things, things that will increase our knowledge, things we couldn’t see due to financial situations or work related issues. This can make our work environment more interesting, and our learning environments more engaging.

Class 2, Assignment 2: What is Immersive Education?
I found this video very interesting for many reasons. I didn’t realize that technology could be used for such amazing things. You hear about all the negative things that happen due to technology, but you just don’t hear about all the good it can bring to people.
Tumblr media
Aquarium Field Trip: I found the Aquarium slide very interesting as it allows poverty stricken schools to not only give the students an experience that they may have never experienced do to the lack of financial funds but to also have this technology to teach them about the animal habitat for so many different species. In this virtual world, the students get to be part of the ecosystem by actually becoming a fish and getting to explore the underwater world.
Tumblr media
iSocial: This slide in the video shows a virtual world specific to someone with autism. This virtual world acts like a video game but helps an Autistic person with social skills, how to communicate with people, facial expression, idea sharing and turn taking. Because of this technology teachers are able to make this an very unique and personal experience for each student.
Tumblr media
Japanese House (Virtual World): This slide the Japanese Virtual House from the Boston Children’s Museum. This is truly special for people who can’t afford to experience this as a real life experience, and also for people who have been there and want to revisit but can’t. I found a link online to virtual tour of the Japanese House on the Boston Children’s Museum http://japanesehouse.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/virtual-tour
Tumblr media
Architecture/Design: This slide shows a virtual world where architects can take a design that they have created and see it come to life by putting the pieces together. This allows them to see their finished product sooner then waiting for the actual design to be built in the real world. By doing this, it allows a designer to fix anything they may not like, want or need. This also has a great education aspect. This can help a student with any faults and build their confidence level to see the object they designed in the virtual world as they don’t have the option of seeing it on the real world.
Tumblr media
Ecosystems: This slide shows the ecosystem virtual world. This teaches students about the animals that live there and teaches them how to monitor for bacteria. It uses a virtual submarine so the student can go deep down into the water to see and inspect micro organisms in the water. It allows the student to collect different forms of data by actually seeing the issue, animal, and/or weather.

Building the Dream Team in a workplace
For years, Google was intrigued on the dynamics of people and creating the “A” team. The original belief was that only the best people could create the best team. These people were made up of degree, Intelligence and skills. Google took the initiative to create “Project Aristotle”. Google specifically interested in knowing how some teams succeeded and kept climbing to the top and others did not. They studied 180 teams, conducted 200 interviews and analyzed over 250 team attributes. A few years later, with the project be led by Abeer Dubey, Googles director of people analytics, they were still struggling to find the right components of what made the teams successful.
Rozovsky and the tea, continued to research, they eventually came across research by psychologists and sociologists that talked about Group Norms, it is bascially factors like behavioral standards, traditions, and unwritten rules that make a successful team.
Through this new information, they went back to the beginning of their research and found that the following may be the formula for successful teams.
* Dependability * Structure and clarity * Meaning * Impact * Psychological Saftey
The break down of the above components are, be in a team that strives to get things done on time and has the desire to   meet expectations, a team that has goals and defined roles within the group, ask each member if they have a personal significance to the work that are doing, do the members of the group believe their work helps others and has an impact for the greater good, and they should be able to feel safe to ask questions even if they think they may be stupid or it should be something they should know.
Focusing on these 5 factors, could be the start of the dream team!
