In the vastness of the desert - Chapter 9

Mustafa, Amin, Said, Rashid and Zaco finally returned home after their long and eventful journey. The streets of their hometown seemed familiar and reassuring, but there was a shadow over their return. The people in their community awaited them with anticipation, curious to hear the stories and experiences they had brought back from their pilgrimage and days in Mecca. But when the brothers got out of the vehicle and they were seen without Karim, questions began to pile up.
"Where has Karim gone?" asked the imam and many as a crowd gathered around the brothers.
Mustafa, who was often considered the spokesman of the group, stepped forward and raised his hand to quiet the crowd. "We know you are all eager to hear our stories and we will share everything with you. But first, we want to explain what happened to Karim."
The crowd fell silent and the brothers began to describe their experiences. They talked about the spiritual journey they had undertaken, the trials of the desert, the deep bond they had developed as brothers in faith and the miracles they had seen in Mecca. But when they spoke of their last day in Mecca, the tension became palpable.

"When we visited the Taneem Mosque," Amin began, "we experienced something extraordinary. Karim recognised the mosque from the dream he had had for a long time. The mosque where he had said the shahada with Zaid in his dream. The imam and the community could hardly believe it. He felt a deep connection to this place, as if he was experiencing an important encounter here."
Said continued: "While we were praying in the mosque, news reached us that a young man who had been in a coma for months had suddenly woken up and asked for Karim. We didn't know what to make of it, but when Karim heard the story, he knew immediately that it was a meaningful connection."
"Young man had experienced the same journey in a coma as Karim," Rashid explained. "He spoke of the same trials, the same miracles that Karim had experienced, as if they had been there together. Karim knew it could only be Zaid and decided to stay with him."
Zaco added: "Zaid's father came to the mosque and asked Karim to go with him. Karim decided to send us back home alone while he stayed with Zaid to investigate this mysterious connection. We don't know how long he will stay there, but we know he has an important job there."

The community took in the brothers' words and nodded in agreement. Karim was an important part of their community, and although they missed him, they understood that he was pursuing a higher calling. They knew that one day he would return, and until then they would continue to live the teachings and experiences he had left them in their daily lives.
And so the brothers returned to their lives, telling people their stories and carrying on the messages of faith and brotherhood. Karim was not physically with them, but his spirit and his teachings remained present in the hearts of all those who knew and appreciated him.
