Thanks to @massaudubonarcadia for sharing one of the shots from last week when I visited. I was in the area and stopped in hopes of seeing the indigo bunting again but I didn’t see them. So I captured this guy and a few other Cedar Waxwings. If anyone needs a place to go wander and enjoy nature please stop Arcadia. The Simonator! My wife called him that when he first came home. And it sort of stuck. Amelia walks around saying Simonator Simonator. I worked more on getting him to climb stairs last night. Well at 6 months old, this Daddy couldn’t be happier with a puppy named Simon. His personality is amazing. He sort of the dog everyone dreams of. He is 95% house broken. He eats well. He is playful but not aggressive. He just wants to me with us all the time. He’s amazing with Amelia. The day after. I got up for a sunrise while we stayed at the Cape. After a brief heart attack when my nieces dog scared the living hell out of me at 3:45 am I went out in the pouring rain to see what I could find. Eventually I drove back to Gray’s beach because we had a breakfast reservation at the Celtic Kitchen for 9. So why not. I knew it wouldn’t be much but I figured an artistic expression in post would be cool. It turns out the wet and dryness of the boardwalk made all the names show up well. Dexter Grist Mill in Sandwich on Cape Cod. As my story goes, when I was a kid and stayed with my grandparents on Tupper Road a mile or so aways from the Grist Mill, my Grandmother often brought my sister and I to visit her friend who worked the entrance fee booth. The Mill makes cornflour. There’s not a lot to photograph here. About an hour is more than enough to capture all you need. But staying longer wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s quiet mostly. And offers time to reflect on what’s really important in life. Not who’s got the best gear. Or makes the greatest images or collects the most awards. Or who makes the most money or has the best of everything. It’s about life. In between the Grist Mill and my Grandparents old residence (it’s been destroyed for many years). Was this little harbor over looking the ginormous Canal. And just as you arrive you pass this Coast Guard station. It’s sheltered many brave men and women over the years. One of them was my Dad. “No Russians ever touched soil on his watch” he would say. I stopped by briefly and wondered why he had to leave so soon. Then I meandered over to where someday I will make sure his final wishes are followed through with. Make family matter most.
