Video game music
Video game music is an interesting type of music, it is not a genre, rather, video game music is music written for a specific purpose, mostly, to set a certain tone or mood within a video game
sometimes the music itself can also have importance to the gameplay, i recall there being a Zelda game where you have to play short melodies on an ocarina, in order to stay alive or something like that. the ocarina has become a key symbol of the Zelda franchise, and i recall, seeing that you could actually buy an ocarina matching the one in the game, in a gamestop once. Sadly gamestop has closed in my country of Denmark
and while were on the topic of Zelda, i may as well bring up one of my prime examples of this blog post, Kass´ theme from The Legend Of Zelda; Breath Of The Wild, there are countless videoes of this being performed on accordion, along with other instruments, online. here i present one by Cadenza Accordion:

The thing i find so fascinating about video game music is how; even though it may have been created for a very specific purpose in the game, you dont necesarily have to know or play the game to enjoy the music, Kass´s theme is a peice i think demonstrates this. You could easily perform this on the street as if it were any other classical or folk peice, and i dont think people would enjoy it any less. I think theres some fantastic harmony in the peice, and i love how it ties in with the classic good-old Zelda theme at one point, before ending and then looping back to the much more bittersweet tone of the start
My depest apologies that i have to mention Zelda so much in this post, but it may just be that the Legend Of Zelda franchise has really good music, here is another video that i think is worth checking out, of the Main theme on Marimba, mixed in with some other small percussive instruments;

This one is played by multiple people, and has editing involved, adding some drum parts and such to it.
I wanna end of this post with one last thing, a peice from my favourite 3d platformer of all time, Super Mario Galaxy. Well actually i like the sequel better, but thats probably just because of nostalgia, idk. but here is Comet Observatory on concertina;

I wanna leave it up to you to chew further on the topic of video game music, and how it finds itself in relation to more traditional music. i dont consider myself a real video game nerd, more of a casual gamer, and Ex-nintendo nerd, i was super into nintendo for a lot of my life, thank you
