Ciara hummed. “I think I had one of those as a kid. Pre-camp.” They hadn’t exactly thought to bring it with them when the satyr who found them whisked them out of North Dakota. They almost asked Dayn if it worked, but they had to assume he’d tried it already. “Non-fiction? Sure.” They directed his attention to the non-fiction section. “We’ve got biographies, self help, history, science… Any of that?”

“Yeah, it’s like, old as fuck but it still works and I like using that instead of my phone when I’m home.” Hearing a story aloud on the radio and losing himself in a video game where he didn’t have to think too much is how he liked to do things. Take that, boomers, he still used the radio. Dayn perked up a little at the choices, a smile of excitement starting to form on his face. “History, I’d love something pre-America. And I guess biographies, too, or worst case scenario, science... please no self-help, let’s keep that can of worms closed, shall we?”

“Unfortunately a lot of audio books sell as audio files and not CDs.” They frowned and looked back at him. “When you say radio, you mean CD player, right? Not just a radio you expect to play CDs?” They assumed he did, but one could never be too sure. Especially given how easily distracted Dayn was even now. “What audiobooks are you after? I’ll help you find some.”

Dayn groaned and saw the audio books, the smaller boxes and he was trying to read if he recognized any of the authors - or, if he even wanted to listen to any of them. “Yeah, yeah, like one of those older two-thousands radios, with the CD player, and the outlet for earphones? I found it at Goodwill.”  He stepped up and down the small aisle for a moment, shrugging. “I don’t know, something interesting, that I don’t have to concentrate too hard on. Non-fiction, I guess?”

Asterius had never been a heavy sleeper with everything going on in his life; he was used to keep an eye open for any kind of threat that could take him down. But ever since he arrived to the university, he had found himself sleeping comfortably every night to the point he was even dreaming. Although, just like nice dreams had been with him, he had also been having sudden nightmares, very specific sometimes and of course he had quickly picked on the responsible.

He woke up agitated and still with goosebumps as he could still feel the faint crawling of bugs all over himself. The anxiety quickly died as anger took over and as he threw over the sheets, Asterius didn’t do much else aside of getting into his jeans and grabbing a belt of uh… tools before stepping out of the building.

“Thompson!”, Asterius called as the one to blame seemed to rest peacefully on the branches of a tree. “Get the fuck down right this instant!”, he commanded as he stomped repeatedly on the trunk of the tree with rage charging every kick. “Fucking coward come here so I can kick your ass!”, he added with clenched teeth as he picked up a little rock and threw it near the other.

There he was, in the flesh, storming out of the doors and immediately finding him - though Dayn didn’t exactly hide himself. He didn’t like getting too personal when he went dream hopping, he just liked to have fun. Personally, it was more fun giving people good dreams, or putting himself in the dreams of girls he wanted to hook up with - it made his real life game that much better. Asterius was a whole different ballgame, though.

Dayn had laughed when his name was called, perched on the tree and ducking his head out of the incoming rock. “Now how are you sure whatever your mad at is because of me?” he called back. “I don’t appreciate being blamed for the multiple misfortunes in your life, Nowak. You can kiss my ass instead!”

Soarin sighed, he guessed there was no point in trying to convince Dayn and his friend had way more experience in this kind of stuff. He tried to shake the anxiety off and trust the other, but as always, there was a lingering feeling of ‘we shouldn’t be doing this’ ( quite hypocritical, though, considering all the breaking in and stealing he had down throughout his life ). “Even as a demigod, I don’t think not caring about your body is good for you”, he commented with a little frown, but who was he to say anything at all? “Bet I can finish a Four Loko can before you do”, Soarin commented with a little smirk, trying to shake off the concern. “Like a… uh 7.5 I think. Didn’t know u could skate”, he added approaching with his unopened can in one hand and leaning over the counter.   HE LOVED SKATING.

“Cannot turn off cameras, but I can find the security room and deactivate them for sure”, he commented while leaving his drink on the counter. “Oh, do I know said girl?”, Soarin asked curiously as he started walking away and towards the cam room.

Dayn had stopped caring about breaking and entering a long time ago. The way he saw it, there was no such thing as private property - you couldn’t own pieces of the earth. But it was fine, they weren’t hurting anybody, not really. There was nothing broken - so far, at least. “You know what, if you want to chug a Four Loko, you big my guest,” he chuckled. “I’ll gladly pass on that.” Dayn plucked Soarin’s size from the bunch and examined them, before looking back at his friend. “You got small ass feet, dude.” He took his and moved around to the other side of the counter, peeling off his own sneakers and replacing them with the skates. “I mean, I don’t, really,” he said, standing up, slightly wobbly. “I like to think I have good balance, though. We’ll see what happens.” Dayn rolled over to the backpack, taking another sip of his drink. “I can’t remember her name. Probably? I think she was one of Athena’s kids, but I could be wrong.”

Ciara looked up from their work when Dayn started speaking, a smirk on their face. “Dayn, you make it too easy like that.” Ciara had a fondness for Dayn, despite him getting on their nerves more often than they would normally allow. “Pretty much every demigod has dyslexia, ADHD, or both,” they reminded him, stepping out from around the counter. “Come on, there’s a couple over here. Most of them are online though. You know, audio files?”

“Yeah, yeah, I know about audio files, I like podcasts,” he said, watching them walk around the counter and lead him to wherever it was he could find everything. “I like them for around my house and I don’t want it clogging up my phone. I have this old radio in my apartment, I’d like to put it to use, you know?” Dayn kept getting distracted by all the stuff he passed, giving himself another mental reminder to start reading more, a promise he consistently broke.

AT A CROSSROADS BETWEEN ACTING ANNOYED AND CONTINUING TO FLIRT, cori took her time to think by sighing and twirling a strand of her between her fingers. “that doesn’t even make sense.” she asserted, gaze intensely locked on dayn. “but i’m willing to try a little harder in that case. just for you.” she hummed. that wasn’t entirely true, but dayn didn’t need to know that. cori kept her eyes set on dayn as he crossed around the table and sat in the chair she formerly occupied. casually, she threw an arm around the back and leaned into the side of the chair. it was a total bummer dayn couldn’t help her with this edit, but not all was lost, “bummer…” she breathed out, as if voicing her thoughts. shamelessly, cori then gave him a quick one over from head to toe, then flirtatiously ‘confessed’ “i could actually think of a thing or two i’d like to do rather than homework.” then the leap, “what about you?” cori let her fingers brush across his shoulder before retracting her arm, “is what you came to the library for of the utmost importance?”

“For me? You’re too kind,” he joked, hand over his heart, before crossing his ankles out under the table, stretching his legs in the seat as he looked up at her. Dayn knew what she was getting at, but he found it more fun to just keep teasing and going around in circles. It was funny. “Just one thing or two?” he asked. “It’s homework, don’t be so generous.” He tried spinning the chair a little so he could look up at her, but reangled his body instead to shoot one of his classic Thompson grins upwards. “Suddenly I can’t remember why I’m even here in the first place,” he smirked. “Though--”  He stood then, his 6′3 frame towering over her with a dramatic sigh. “I’m doing you no good, distracting you from your schoolwork in this way - I really must be going--”

lavinia was biting her pen ( a glittery purple abomination ) absentmindedly while looking over the exercises. with an exaggerated sigh, she turned to look at dayn, arching an eyebrow. “ talk for yourself, i happen to find geometry fascinating. ” she gave him a cheeky smile, tip of the tongue peaking out of her teeth, and twirled the pen around her fingers while leaning in slowly. “ but if you’re bored, i am certain we could thing something more… entertaining to do. ” they were face to face now, and lavinia winked at dayn before leaning all the way back into her chair, flipping the book to another page. “ like equations. ”

“You and Einstein are probably the only two people to ever say those words,” he said. “Though I’d much rather see you say it than Einstein.” Chin resting on one of his hands as he watched her work, returning a little smile when she looked at him. “Yes, I am very bored, and I am easily entertained, so this is saying something.” Dayn was grinning, leaning in and eager to close the gap before she leaned back, the smile dropping from his face and he lightly rolled his eyes. “That wasn’t very nice,” he chastised, under his breath but just loud enough for her to hear, followed by a little chuckle.
