Y'know with Susie mastering her healing abilities in chapters 3 and 4 it makes me think we're on track for each member of the delta warriors to heavily subvert their traditional RPG classes by the end of the game.

For example, Kris is 'the leader', the one in charge, the one that gives orders and steers the direction of the story. But in reality, Kris is the one character in the game that can't do that. They can't give orders, they can only take them, whether it be from us or from Carol. They can't control the story or how things pan out. They literally cannot be the leader they're supposed to be, because they are our vessel and our will subverts their own.

Then there's Susie. The tank, the heavy hitter, the violent tormentor and the damage dealer... who has now become the most proficient healer in the party, being able to max out both Kris and Ralsei's HP with a single cast of her spell.

And then there's Ralsei. The support character, the healer and the guide. The one who knows how the world works and how things should pan out. But he's got a horrifically slanted view on his world and his own autonomy. He refuses to properly guide the hero's because he knows where it will lead, and despite his role, he wants to do everything in his power to subvert their horrible, and seemingly inevitable fate.

And with Susie becoming a proficient healer, it makes me wonder if Ralsei, in the next few chapters, will become a powerful attacker. Afterall, he's becoming more prone to action as the story goes on, and he's really good at it as well. Being able to shatter Gerson's statue in a few mere hits and being the first to order the group to kill the emerging titan.

He's becoming more open to violent solutions while Susie is becoming more open to peaceful ones. And they're abilities may change to reflect that fact.

Each member of the delta warriors are subverting their designated roles.

Had a coworker tell me they hadn’t texted once because of the time. “I didn’t want to wake you.”

“I am not a manager. No one at work will ever need me badly enough to interrupt my sleep. If I’m not working then there’s no reason to be calling me.”

“Not even if you need to cover?”

I laughed, “I don’t need to cover. They could ask me to cover but good luck getting ahold of me if I’m sleeping.”

They looked distressed at this idea.

To console them I added, “I have important people like my mom and my wife set to override. If they call they get through no matter what.”

There was a small pause before they asked, “You can do that…?”

I love that Noelle canonically played the ‘Evil Route’ of Dragon Blazers even though it scared her and she felt bad about it. I love that Susie played the Evil Route by accident because she didn’t consider that it was an option not to kill everything. I love that Kris purposely sacrificed copyright-neutral Yoshis when playing video games with Asriel as a kid. I love that Ramb thinks Kris would find Tenna’s version of the Chapter 3 boards to be boring and would prefer the original version where you can use violence to get stronger. I love that Ramb’s assumption is implied to be correct. I love that Kris only flinches away from the screen in the Sword Route when they have to kill the sprites representing their friends. I love that you can control lil’ kris to hop out of the game and actually threaten real Kris and Susie with the sword, and that this freaks Kris the fuck out. I love that Asriel tried to pray for Kris over their Yoshi killing sins and that Father Alvin found it naive and ridiculous. To believe that your actions in a video game would say anything about your actual character. I love that Kris and Noelle and Susie and Catti and probably Berdly too would all play the Weird Route if they had access to Deltarune. I wish the fandom took all of this into more consideration when analyzing the meta-narrative that Deltarune is trying to tell instead of resorting to 2015 era ‘you’re horrible for playing the Weird Route’ rhetoric

Mmm really coming in under the wire on this one! Did some experimental coloring, not sure I love it, but it'll have to do. Summer visits to the Jersey shore are always festive! Before there was pickleball, there was paddle-ball on the beach. (I was never very good at it, to be honest.) Grunks vs. niblings -- who are you betting on? I looked at so, so, so many pics of people playing paddle-ball for this.
