"We all know you're gonna wear Mickey ears, Clint" He said, listening to the bacon sizzle on the skillet. Wade turned around in his seat,  "That's not true, Clint! Remember that time we went out for tacos and no body got hurt?"
"Cliiinnntt I'm starving!!" Said wade, squirming in his seat. His stomach rumbled loudly. "Do you hear that?? That's not an earthquake,  that's my stomach and it wants food!" He was impatient, he glanced around and went to the fridge to pour himself another glass of orange juice. Then he refilled Clint's glass, he might as well since Clint's glass was right there anyway.  He walked over to where the darts were and started throwing them at the dart board.
Wade stood there eagerly watching Clint cook, the bacon and eggs smelled so good, he couldn't wait to eat and head out to the happiest place on earth.  Universal studios!

Clint rubbed at his brow. Unsure of how to go about texting Wade. It had been years since they spoke. Was Clint crazy for doing this? Maybe he should call Wade instead. He felt his heart beat slightly race, his blood pressure rising. He shouldn’t feel unsure of texting his old fling…Should he?
He set his phone down and paced. “Don’t be a baby Clint. It’s just Wade. It’s not like he’s intimidating.” He doesn’t even really know why they stopped talking, it just sort of happened. “It’s just Wade.”
“Just Wade…”
He stopped pacing and looked to his phone. “Just send it you pussy.” he sighed heavily. “It’s just Wade!”
He began to type onto his phone. I miss you.’ Clint’s eyes just stared at the unsent text. He felt an anxious pain in his chest. Clint deleted the texted with a frustrated sigh. “Too strong.” he said aloud. Clint plopped himself down into his loveseat, kicking his feet up onto the coffee table that was draped with papers and books. He wouldn’t say his life was a mess, but it certainly wasn’t fully in order after his wife left him. He just needed his best friend at this time. Even if they hadn’t spoken in awhile. He began to type again.
’ So…Long time, no talk.’ Clint looked at the phone, his fingers delayed to press send. When he finally got the courage his thumb pressed send. He stared at the phone for a little bit, feeling a bit of anxiety creep into the back of his brain. He set his phone back onto the coffee table turning it over, he didn’t want to stare at it for too long, if he didn’t get a reply that would kill him.
He lit up a cigarette and took a long drag. Guess old habits never die. Just like the cigarette Wade was certainly a habit that just didn’t die for Clint.

“Fine, you make breakfast and shit.  I can eat anyway.” Wade said with his hand on his stomach as his stomach growled.  He was hungry, so he better eat before he kidnapped Clint to go to Disneyworld.  “But Clint!!  I already bought the tickets!!!”  Wade showed Clint the tickets that he legit bought on his phone. “Bitch, we goin’! I don’t care what you say, I’m putting my foot down and we’re gonna go and have fun of some sort!  We’re gonna ride the teacups! And we’re gonna get us some Mickey ears that we’re gonna wear all day!”  Taking the glass of orange juice that Clint handed to him, he took a couple of sips before he continued whining, “But-But Mickey and Minnie are there!  I wanna see Donaldddd!!  Don’t you wanna see Donaalldd, Clint?!  Go on Space Mountain, or Indiana Jones, and get some churros and a turkey legg?!”  Wade paused for a bit “Can you make me bacon?  I like bacon, and two eggs.  Sunny-side up please~!” Wade said, taking another swig of orange juice.
Wade walked over to the kitchen table, pulled out a chair and sat down, looking at Clint with puppy dog eyes.  “Please Clint, PLEEAAASSEE?!?  It’s not like you have a choice anyways!!!”

Wade woke up to the rooster crowing and the sun shining through the windows.  “Ugh,  what’s it take to get a few more minutes of shut eye?” He said as he got up and stretched.  Wade went to the bathroom and used Clint’s toothbrush to brush his teeth. “Minty fresh!”  Wade exclaimed as he spit into the sink.  Wade stood there thinking about what to do for the day while he changed into his jeans and tshirt.
Wade started going through Clint’s closet and took out his suitcases, he filled them up with Clint’s clothes and underwear and shoes and a pillow, for some reason.  Oh and of course a toothbrush. After he finished packing Clint’s stuff, he ran downstairs and threw the suitcases into the trunk of the car.  Then running back into the house, he grabbed a cushion from the couch and threw it at Clint’s face,  “LET’S GO ASSFACE!  WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYLAA-WORRLDD….WHATEVER! DISNEY!”

There was a bunch of shit that Wade still needed to get off his chest, he took a deep breath, then started to speak, “Clint… Since we’re being honest here and we’re still on the subject of toothbrushes…. I used your toothbrush in the bathroom.”  He side glanced at the other man, then looked away sheepishly.  “And dude, can you like, stop apologizing?  I’m over it,  I just wanted to tell you how much I missed you, in the most rom-com way possible, of course.  And because I’m sick I’m not my normal self.” Wade coughed slightly.  He wrapped the blanket tighter around his body.
“Clint I-I’m dying here.” Resting his head against the couch, looking up at Clint, “I just needed to know if we’re still best friends and that I can drag your ass everywhere and fight bad guys and shit, and maybe you’ll let me rob a few people behind your back. You know, like old times.” Wade squirmed a little, to face Clint a little more, “Come on, Clint, let’s go have fun again. You’ve become so stiff lately ‘Wade we’re not doing this! We can’t do that!  Fix this, do that blah blah blah’” Wade mocked.  At least back in the day he was able to drag Clint around against his will to do shit he wanted.

Wade thought of all these things silently and slowly drifted off to sleep.

“There were things.  In the air.” He said, “Cloudy things, and I’m flying.  In space of course. And this giant monster comes out at me and swallows me whole, then poops me out and I’m in OZ, over the rainbow.” Wade lied. Well, it was partially true.  The dream had actually been about Clint, they were both in space and the monster had eaten Clint instead of him.  It was terrifying.  Wade paused for a moment, “Hey Clint...?  That was actually a lie, I dreamt that you were the one being eaten, and I kept running after you, and I eventually grabbed your hand, but it slipped and you were taken away...from me....” He let out a slight whimper.  “Damn.. I’m being such a pansy right now.” Sniffling and wiping away the tears.  “It’s probably because I don’t feel good right now, but I missed us.  Our adventures and shit, and you buying me food.  I don’t want you to feel guilty and take all the blame, I was still apart of that problem.  I stopped talking to you, I stopped even trying.  But I never stopped thinking about how we were so close back then, even after you got married.  I thought I’d at least be your best man, so I became angry and gave up.  What I’m trying to say, Clint, is... I miss you.  More than you think.”
Wade sat in silence, waiting for the other to respond,
“I still even have your toothbrush back at my apartment.”

“Uh huh sure you were sleeping. It’s my blanket now.” Wade sat there still, his back was leaning against the couch, he stiffened up when he felt Clint’s arm behind him, barely touching. It was warm.  Wade couldn’t move, he didn’t want to move and for once in his life, his mind was still.  Wade just wanted to sit there with his friend and not do anything else.  They were best friends before, a long time ago, it was almost a forgotten memory.
Wade was unsure if he was acting somber because he was sick or if it was because he was near Clint.  He really missed Clint, in every way possible.  Whatever it was, he was letting his guard down.  This was bad, but Wade did not care at this very moment, he just wanted to sit there.  Wade remembered all the things they did with one another, all the adventures they went through together.  He couldn’t be mad at Clint, they were so close, not to mention Clint always paid for his food.
There were many things that were left unsaid, and Wade had been fine with that,  Clint on the other hand was more open about his feelings, even when he didn’t say them aloud.  Wade knew Clint, even though he’d changed to a more mature-dad-person, and Clint hid everything through his body language, he was good, but he could not hide all the sadness that was in his eyes.
The straw was still in his mouth, he wasn’t even sipping the juice, Wade just stared straight at the wall, holding the juice box with both his hands and picking at the corners with his finger nails.
Snapping out of his trance, he realized that Clint was behind him.  Wade turned to face his friend, breaking the silence, he whispered, “Hey Clint? Sometimes...when I close my eyes… I can’t see anything”

Wade woke up violently again, sweating from the nightmare that he had just had.  He tried going back to sleep, but after half an hour of tossing and turning, Wade got up from the bed, and went back downstairs and through the kitchen for a juice box.  He stumbled across the living room and sat on the floor, with his back against the couch that Clint was laying on.  Wade grabbed some of the blanket that was on Clint and wrapped it around his head.
Wade just sat there for a long while, not saying anything.  He listened to the sound of his own rhythmic breath.  Slowly sipping on the juice box.
“Hey.  I can’t sleep.  Can you sleep?”  He said quietly.  “I think I’m still feeling sick… and having fever dreams. It’s weird.”  Wade sat there staring at the wall.

“Clint, I never get sick.”  That was a blatant lie, but Wade wasn’t going to change his ways. Wade finished the rest of his food and sat there for a few moments more.  Wade’s stomach started gurgling, he got up from the couch “I’ll be right back.”  He ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut.  Sounds of pain came from the bathroom, and fater 45 minutes, Wade came back out.  “See...I’m...totally fine...not sick!” Wade sat back down and continued watching television with Clint.
A couple hours passed, and at that point Wade was on the couch pretty much sprawled out, with his mouth open, fast asleep, drool dripping from his mouth.  His head was resting on Clint’s shoulder and he was snoring loudly as well.  A slight whimper, and feeble cry came from Wade as he slept.  He was definitely dreaming about something, “....Clint… Don’t go…..” he said softly in his sleep.  Wade snorted loudly, so loudly that he woke himself up, “WAIT! COME BACK!”  Wade shouted.  He looked around and saw Clint “Heeeyyy there friend….” Wade said awkwardly.  He got up from the couch slowly.
“I’m gonna hit the hay” Wade said as he yawned and stretched, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.  He walked up the stairs to Clint’s room and shut the door, he dug through Clint’s closet and found a pair of pajama pants and a shirt, and changed into them, then threw himself onto Clint’s bed drifted off to sleep,. “Mmmmm sooofft and fluffy…”

Wade finished his first slice of pizza and reached for his second “Plate?  What am I a barbarian?”  He quipped while chewing on his second slice.  He took the remote and started going through the on demand movies, Wade also realized that Clint was teasing him back so he changed the subject, “How about Bourne Legacy?  It has Jeremy Renner in it.  Or Self/Less, now that’s a pretty good movie!  You got Netflix,Hawkass?  I can always go for Golden Girls, what time is it?  Isn’t it your bedtime anyway? It’s like 8pm.  It’s beddy-bye for yooouuu.  You got ice cream in that freezer of yours?  Maybe we can go to Disneyworld right now.  I wanna go to Disneyworld!!!”  Wade leaned over and started pouring himself a soda.
Wade put down the soda and went to the kitchen to dig through the freezer, trying to find ice cream, he found a tub of vanilla ice cream, took it out, went through the cupboards for a bowl and gave himself a few scoops, then went back and plopped back down onto the couch, and reached for his third slice of pizza.  “MMmmmm dis shit be good!  There’s nothing like pizza!”  Wade found the channel with the Golden Girls, and became silent.

Wade took the wallet from Clint and whined “Fiiinnne, I won’t take anything” He said in a huff.  He walked over to the door and gave the pizza guy a few bucks, “Here keep the change”  Wade grabbed the box and opened it, while closing the door behind him.  “Oooh cheesy!  Just like you Clint!”  He said while taking a slice out and shoving it in his mouth.  He put the box down on the coffee table and plopped down on the couch next to Clint.
“So what we watchin’ Hawkass?  Or Ronin, or whatever.  Imma keep callin’ you Hawkass.  So what we watchin’?  What were we even talking about?  Oh yeah.  I missed you so so so damn much Clint!”  Turning to face Clint and making kissy faces

“Of Course I’ve fixed a wall before!” Wade said matter-of-factly, admiring his handiwork. He was working on the frames and screwing the glass together, “What cracks? I don’t see any cracks” grabbing the glue and brushing it over the glass. Wade took the next frame and started ‘fixing’ that one as well, but it cracked in his hands when he heard Clint asking him if Wade ‘missed him’. That was a hard question for Wade. He never liked admitting anything cheesy in moments like these, Clint knew that, but he also knew that Clint needed to know. Clint always needed to know. That bastard.
I did miss that son of a bitch. Should I tell him the truth though? Or should I mess with his head? But then it would mess with my head if I did tell him the truth, or would it? If I told him it would mess with him anyways right? Where’s that pizza guy when you need him?!
Wade thought about it for a few seconds more and decided to be honest with Clint for once. Which is a rare moment but it happens...every now and then.
Wade took a deep breath, “Clint, I wouldn’t be mad at you if I didn’t miss you. We were like besties and we just stopped talking....” Wade smirked “I also miss you buying food for me and taking me out to nice restaurants out in the city”
Just then the doorbell rang, “oooh! That’s gotta be the pizza guy!”

’I miss you.’ Clint’s eyes just stared at the unsent text.

Wade was chewing on a burrito.  “Hey wanna hangout?  We can go rob some poor schmuck or save the world from bad guys.  I wanted to join the X-men and the Avengers at one point, but I made a cooler team!  I call it X-Force! I’m holding auditions now”  he said with a burrito in one hand and twirling his butterfly knife in the other. “Ya wanna join?”

“Fiiinnneeee,  I’ll start working on that damn wall.”  Wade said turning around to head to the shed, but when Clint said only psychopaths liked pineapple on pizza “Hey!  That’s not true!  I hate pineapple on pizza!  You take that back!”  Wade paused and thought about it, “No wait… I do like pineapple, you’re right.  Carry on!”
Wade went out to the shed and grabbed a bunch of tools and papier mache and glue.  He ran back into the house with his arms full, and just dropped everything on the floor right besides the wall.  He clapped his hands and rubbed them together, “Tis time!”  Wade snatched a phillips head screwdriver and some papier mache and started paper mache-ing the wall.  “This is gonna look brand new Clint!  You’ll see! Better than new even!”  He dipped a paint roller in a bunch of glue and started gluing the papier mache onto the wall.
After he was done rolling everything onto the wall, Wade backed away to admire his work.  It was beautifully done, pure white walls, it looked as if the wall had never been hit by bullets.  “Sometimes I wonder how I do it!”  He said proudly.  Wade went over to the coffee table and started fixing the frames with the pictures of Clint’s kids.
“When’s the pizza getting here, Clint?  I’m starving!”

Wade cocked his eyebrow questionlingly.  He knew all the things that bothered Clint, but he was pretending everything was okay when it clearly wasn’t.  “Well you should feel guilty for being away from me for so long!  Look at me!  I would miss me too! I don’t even know how you managed to stay away for so long!  I’m amazing! And I’m gonna call myself Uncle Wade whether you like it or not, cuz that’s what your kids are gonna call me!”
Wade turned and went back down the stairs, “so where do you put your tools and shit?  In the tool shed?  Where the fuck is that Clint?  You never tell me where anything is!  How am I supposed to fix your damn wall if you don’t tell me where your stuff is Clint!?  I thought I made it better by decorating it with bullet holes!  It looks awesome!  You’re welcome!  By the way, I’m staying over...for a few days, I hope you don’t mind!  Of course you don’t!  You love me!  Let’s order pizza!  They deliver here don’t they?  I’m starving!  Just thinking about fixing that wall made me hungry!”
Wade started going through all the cupboards around the house looking for ‘tools’ to fix the wall.  Instead, Wade found a few darts on the kitchen table and started throwing them at the target, his aim was an inch away from the bullseye. Wade was good, but not as good as Clint in that department.

Wade reached the top of the stairs, and saw Clint facing away from him, “Do what? What can you not handle? I mean you kinda started it by texting me out of nowhere, and then ALMOST telling me you missed me. Dude, you kinda owe me an explanation.” He said, shrugging and popping another carrot into his mouth. Wade chewed loudly. He noticed his friend give him a sad look.
Oh shit. Is Clint about to cry? Come on Wade, you should comfort him. Give him a hug. Maybe he wants a carrot? Put one in his mouth and see what happens. No, this is a kind of serious moment right now. You should hug him
“Dude, are you gonna cry?” He walked up slowly to Clint and gave him a tight hug and started rubbing his back. “Shhhh it’s okay, just let it out. Theeereee you go, that’s a good boy. Now tell Uncle Wade what’s been bothering you.” Wade had an urge to grab Clint’s butt, but decided against it. This time....

After Clint opened the door for him, Wade stumbled into the house and walked straight towards the kitchen, “Yeah yeah I’ll fix it whatever! Blah blah blah. Your kids should know what you do for a living anyway!” Wade went straight into the fridge, he heard Clint go upstairs, knowing he was putting away all the goodies.
He’s putting away all the damn toys! It’s okay, there are other goodies in here! Oooh gummy bears! He took a few packs and put them in his pocket, then went back to the fridge for a few juice boxes, and searched for more snacks, “wtf? Apple slices?! Carrot sticks?!!?” He shouted up at Clint, “What kind of a dad are you?! Making your poor kids eat these snacks?!”
Grabbing a bag of carrot sticks he popped one into his mouth and went up the stairs to where Clint was. “You ignored me when I said I loved you, Clint.” He said in a lackadaisical tone while munching on a carrot stick.

Clint swung his baton at Wade and successfully hit his wrist, the blow made Wade almost drop the bat, “Ow! Not cool Clint! Not cool!” He yelped. Wade held his wrist in pain.
“You might as well have just chopped my hand off you son of a bitch! I thought you loved me! You and I were meant to be and this is how you treat me??!” Wade yelled at Clint dramatically as if it was a lovers spat.
Wade threw the baseball bat at Clint, stood up straight and nonchalantly said “I’m hungry. So we going to Disney or what? I want a churro.” He started walking towards the house “I’m gonna grab another juice box and we can go!” He shouted behind him at the other man.
I wonder where Clint gets his juice boxes from. They’re really good! I wonder if he has other snacks than animal crackers. Maybe I should have checked if Clint was done attacking me, Should I turn around?...nah…..! ...Maybe I should….
Wade slowly turned around to see what Clint’s next move was going to be...
