And on Saturday, it took center stage again when a Nazi sympathizer rushed the field during the Ghana-Germany game. No security attempted to stop him as he took his shirt off to reveal a pro-Nazi message. He had to be ushered off the field by Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari. Several German fans also showed up to the game with their faces painted black.

Although there are six black people in NPR’s chosen photo, and only five white, the five white people are in the front of the chosen picture while only two black people are in the front. Two other of the six black people’s faces are not fully visible in NPR’s chosen picture.

This picture was most likely chosen consciously because it showed how blacks and white worked together during the Civil Rights Movement. But unconsciously, whoever chose it chose an image with more white faces than black.

Maybe it was a white or black person simply not realizing what they were doing, despite the subject matter. Or perhaps it was a black person afraid of being called “racist” if he/she chose a picture with more black people than white.

Either way, for a Civil Rights image and article, the focus should be on the black people who fought for their rights not on the whites that helped but could then re-assimilate back into white society and never be questioned if they so chose.

The article then goes on to focus on two white men, one of whom died in the movement. His sacrifice was noble, but no more noble than any of the black people who also died during the movement.

It was good of white people to help during the Civil Rights Movement, but there should never have been segregation, which was put into law by whites, in the first place. Whites cleaning up a mess that whites made shouldn’t make anyone more thankful to whites than they are to blacks, who were cleaning up a mess that they were subjected to but didn’t make themselves.

GERMANY - My friend just sent me this video she saw on WSHH about a black woman confronting the KKK in Germany. It was interesting  what she was doing but the biggest thing that captured my attention was what the KKK member said.

He stood there in his white sheets and white hood, looked her directly in the eye and said to her with a straight face, “I’m not racist.” I couldn’t deal after that.

Biracial Danish actress, Jaqueline Fleming stars as Harriet Tubman in the new movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. No offense to Ms. Fleming but she in no way resembles Mother Tubman. There are millions of Black actresses out there. Why choose this one? I believe Hollywood seems much more comfortable with women who like her than Black women who look like Mother Tubman.  The most powerful thing we must do is control our image. And since money is power the first step is to stop supporting entities that want to rewrite our history. The second step is call them out when they do it. And finally the most important step is to create, cultivate and support our own Hollywood. I for one will no longer support our annihilation. Next thing you know the Madame CJ Walker story will be about a White woman from Delta, Louisiana!

 Mother Tubman was a dark skin Black woman. Not a light skin biracial woman and should be cast as such. Why anyone would have a problem with that is beyond me. Who will play MLK like others said, Wentworth Miller?

 Those who claim to be sisters have not once said yes colorism /light skin worship is real and they want to end it. This was a form of it. To discount the experiences of those who have experienced harsher treatment because they are darker is the same that thing as the White folk who deny racism does not exist. All of the tactics used by those who defend this travesty against mother Tubman are the same ones used against Black people. You are no different.

 Its not about light skin Black folks. Its about reclaiming Mother Tubman’s image. Look at her. I see nothing in Ms Fleming that resembles Mother Tubman.

Even though there are only 4 princesses of color, there are plenty of other wonderful Disney heroines of all different races. Just because they’re not official disney princesses doesn’t make them any less important.
