We all know that L wouldn't have minded Light using the Death Note if Light had just consulted him about which criminals to kill, and that for me is one of the many things that makes the ship so believable. It's not another "hero knows it's wrong but can't give villain up" ship (although I love those too). It's a "less-villainous villain can't give more-villainous villain up" ship. In another world, if they'd found the Death Note together maybe, I can picture them becoming Kira together. L would be more judicious than Light. He wouldn't just kill anyone who got in his way. He might even consult with law enforcement to decide who to use it on. But L would definitely use it.

I can’t watch anime that pauses the action to show the characters’ thoughts. Except death note, because the thoughts are like

Light: If I ask him if he’s British will he think I’m trying to get more information so I can kill him because I’m the murderer? But if I don’t ask he’ll think I’m scared to ask because he thinks I don’t want him to think I’m the murderer. No, there’s no way he would think that far into it—I’ll ask anyway.

L: If he asks me if I’m British he’s definitely the murderer.
