"The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams. I was really into animation throughout my teens, and this book was an incredibly useful and fun read!

Before Xiao could even finish his answer, his lips were met with the tenderness of another. And while his initial reaction from any form of close contact is to immediately recoil, the Conqueror of Demons chose not to do so from Lumine's embrace.

When their lips finally parted, he let out a gasp of disbelief from what had just occurred, and his cheeks reddened from embarrassment.

"Lumine!" he cried. "Y-You should know better by now than to allow yourself to get so close to me! L-Let alone for you to do what you just... did!"

Xiao tried to compose himself shortly after, though it was a bit of a struggle due to the way she stared him down while he did so. Once he got back to his bearings, he cleared his throat and spoke again.

"...I just don't want my karma to affect you as a consequence from this is all."

"You can just call me Xiao, remember?" Xiao remarked to Yanfei. He then extended his arm out to his side as a way to gesture for them to depart.

"This way," he beckoned. The two adepti continued traveling down the gravelly path with the warm Liyue sun behind them. Xiao walked diligently beside Yanfei, making it a point to never stray too far away from her, and his piercing amber eyes analyzed the environment all around them, remaining ever vigilant for any potential points of danger as they traveled along their path.

Whenever they were close to approaching a split in the road, the Conqueror of Demons would quickly point towards the appropriate direction they needed to go, never faltering in his momentum as he did so. Indeed, the Conqueror of Demons knew the winding roads of the mountains with extreme familiarity.

As the two adepti traveled farther upward through a spiraling path on the mountain, Xiao thought back to the statement Yanfei had uttered before they departed. "Back there earlier — you had mentioned you owe me twice for something," Xiao said inquisitively. "I can understand your reasoning for the first time, but I'm afraid I do not know what you refer to for the second."

He continued his step, curious about her answer.

Yanfei watched the adepti curiously, his reaction to her words were fascinating for her. It was a rare sight to speak with the conquerer of demons, she knew from the tales of her father that he wasn't someone who searched the closeness to other beings. Maybe that was the reason why he tried to hide his reactions. Was he... Embarressed?

"It is not a shame to risk your own life for the safety of others--I would say you did honor your contract with morax itself" she said with a soft smile, since she guessed he felt embarressed to tell her.

"Aaaand I appreciate your offer- but I owe you two times-- something" sometimes her lips were faster than her brain. Trying to think of something her eyes shifted towards the sky, before she remembered him asking to get going. "Yes-Yes your lead, conquerer of demons"

"Oh..." Xiao quickly recognized what Yanfei was referring to—the events that transpired at the Chasm were still a fresh memory in his mind, events that very well could have been their last had they not been successful in their one chance to escape the grasp from its depths; a thought he tried not to repeat about too often. Xiao then shied away from the other, the sides of his hair covering his face slightly as he looked down and spoke. "You were all in great danger," he explained. "I had to do something—your safety was all that mattered to me. No matter the cost."

The Conqueror of Demons lifted his head towards the legal advisor and gave her a nod in understanding. "But... the sentiment is appreciated nonetheless." He said with a slight tone of warmth. Xiao turned his attention back to the path before them and spoke again, "We still have some time before the sun sets. Shall we get going?"

She knew already that the conquerer of demons Was a special being. She watched him trying to hide his curiousity , although the mention of zhongli made his eyes lit up a bit. The pink haired adepti tilted her head a bit, putting the map behind her back, as she watched him turning away. Was he trying to save his face? Nothing knew to her, she was a good actor, at least she thought, pretending not to notice.

"You- the conquerer of demons escorting me? It would be an honor" she answered quickly, pressing her hand on her heart. "Even.. I think I owe you something already to saving my life"

Xiao took a quick glance at the map Yanfei presented to him and recognized the location she pointed out straightaway. The mere mention of Morax immediately perked Xiao up as his demeanor changed from his usual stoic self to now full-on intrigue.

"M-Morax?!" He uttered. "What business does—?!" Xiao caught himself before he could finish his thought any further.

"Never mind, it's not my concern." Xiao sighed and turned his back to the legal advisor, not wanting her to read the mix of curiosity and bewilderment written on his face. "I trust his judgment."

The Conqueror of Demons stood once more in silence for several seconds pondering the best way to help the young legal advisor. Xiao turned his head slightly towards Yanfei. "About your destination—if getting there safely is what you desire..." He paused for a moment before turning around to fully face her. "I can escort you along the way..."

Even if she gave the impression of a young girl, she was much older than that and had seen a lot already, studying abroad. But still the manifesting in front of her startled her, moving her hand to her chest, before she realized who it was. She knew him, even before meeting him in the chasm. Her father had told her stories about alatus, getting to know him seemed like a great honor.

"Conquerer of demons" she let out immediately, even if he told her already to call him xiao, it seems odd.

"Huh? Oh." she felt embarressed, that he could tell that she was lost, scratching her neck and trying to escape his eyes. "A bit. I guess you have a better overview... Morax told me to go here" she said and showed him the map, since he was an adepti, she guessed it was quite alright to tell him.

Atop a nearby hill, Xiao observed the road for signs of any danger lurking about. It was during this surveillance when the pink haired half-adeptus unknowingly entered his peripheral vision and caught his attention.

"Hm?" Xiao uttered, "It's that legal advisor... the one from the Chasm."

Xiao stood in thought for a moment, pondering if he should step in; on one hand, one with the blood of an adeptus should have little to no issue handling themselves in the wild. But on the other hand, even they have their limitations and require assistance from others once in a while, whether it's wanted or not—an experience Xiao understood far too greatly now.

Suddenly, a plume of dark energy manifested itself before the young legal advisor, with the Conqueror of Demons standing there before her just as quickly as it dissipated.

"Are you lost?" Xiao asked, his tone exuding a distant, yet vigilant and protective demeanor.

She should have asked more questions, she realized. The pink haired half Adepti was on her feet since half an hour away from Liyue, wondering. Normally she wasnt like that, doing things without question twice, but since it was Morax himself, she didnt.

Unlike the other Adepti she didnt signed a contract with him, but he still had her loyality. So why she hadnt questioned, who will join her on her travel and... where? She looked around, a bit confused and lost, moving to search for the map to look on the route she has to take.

the italicized oh. often seen in romance novels and fanfics. when a character looks at someone, wondering why their chest tightens when they're near, why their heart beats quicken at the slightest touches, why they lose their breathe at the sight of them and suddenly realization dawns on them— oh. they've been in love for a long time now. you are soft and quiet, probably the most overlooked. though when you love, you fall deeply. i'm sure you have a lot of anxieties when it comes to love, and you're more inclined to fall in love with a longtime friend than a stranger. though, your love is pure. and maybe if you have someone in mind, this is your sign to tell them.

I guess I initially joined right on the 1st anniversary last year and now it’s another year already~ Still need to explore the new desert area.

Hey there!

Hope you are all doing okay! Apologies for the sudden absence and apologies to those who reached out to me privately wanting to write. Real life stuff suddenly got in the way and I went through a depressive episode that lasted way longer than I initially anticipated ^^; I’ve been doing alright now, though!

Most of my RPs have been small ones on Discord here and there since, but I’m gonna try to get back to writing here again soon! I know I have some replies to get to along with a couple starters I owe, so I’ll be doing just that. Until then, thank you for reading and understanding and take care~ N

14. What is your opinion on writing smut?

Haven't had the chance to write any but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

17. What makes you insecure about your own writing?

I guess it's mostly due to the fact that I've never really done writing as a hobby, let alone RP until a little over half a year ago, so there was a bit of unknown ground for me to cover.

18. What is one thing you’d wish to see more in the rp community?

Action! I feel they're somewhat rare, but they're usually a fun read when they do pop-up.

Action! It's not too often I see it to be honest, but it was always a treat to read whenever I did get the chance!

Another thing is maybe roleplay threads with multiple people participating instead of your standard two-person thread, but I figure that's probably more suited for Discord RPs where it's much easier to set that up and follow along.

Just write, put things out there—people will interact, and be very appreciative when they do. Remember first and foremost that this is a hobby for a lot of people, many people will come and go, so be respectful and courteous of others. Oops, that was more than one thing wasn't it? 😅
