This blog is mostly about my mods for Skyrim and The Sims 4, with a few occasional reblogs about adult gaming topics. The Likes section is a collection of inspirations from other blogs about Skyrim, Nordic culture and photography, the Lore of The Elder Scroll as well as updates from mods I follow.

The soundtrack of Arcane (the songs mostly) meshes really well with the backdrop of V and Night City.
There are obvious titles like "Paint the Town Blue" (definitely a Mox song), "Hellfire" (wouldn't be out of place in a Maelstrom club), or "Gun for Hire" (perfect fit for the James Bond feel of Phantom Liberty).
And if you listen to the lyrics of "Ashes and Blood" and "The Line", the message is all about transformation, becoming something else, and struggling through that change.
Sounds familiar.
I added them to a new RadioExt station and I only regret not doing that earlier.

Forget vibe coding.. vibe fighting is better
Remove the crosshair. Remove their healthbar and yours.
Enjoy pure fights where you missing and arrow or a spell is actually down to your own skills.
I love how skeletons in Oblivion are tough as nails. I am so used to brittle skeletons from Skyrim who collapse when you sneeze at them.

Lots of great mods out there already, but my favorite in the past week has been Hide UI - UE4SS - the closest thing we have of a photo mode for Oblivion Remastered.
And paired with mods like Removed Crosshair (Sneak Eye Option) , being able to play without any icon and marker is a great upgrade for a more visceral gameplay.
You have to remember which spell is equipped or pay attention to onscreen blood to improve your health or make a retreat.
I will have to see if there is a way to remove the health bar above NPCs heads too.
Edit: There is one - Tarnished - No Enemy Health Bar

The Mysterium Xarxes is secured but at what cost.
Was it worth going undercover in a bloody Daedric cult? worth the life of a sacrificial offering?
Ironically, it was the special envoy of Dagon himself that helped her eliminate the cultist, duty bound to give her weapons and armor while her belongings had been taken away for her initiation.
That small mercy was far from enough to make up for her sacrifices.

On one terrible night, she lost her faithful horse to a pack of wolves and a troll, but she also found Clancy, a fierce pup and a very good boy.
Together they finished her tour of Mage halls to complete her training in Cheydinhal.

Not even two weeks out and already more than 1600 mods on Nexus.. not bad for a game where mods are not officially supported.
That said, wrapping a nearly 20 years old game in a new skin comes with challenges. To begin with, there are many places you can install mod files into - the old Data folder for esp, the ~mods folder for Unreal Engine game changes, the mods folders for OBSE and US4SS script engines, the binary folder for Reshade and other dlls... this is a bit of a mess.
Some of my must have mods so far:
Reshade of course, and CYRODILIC in particular as a base
Denser Foliage - for grass that doesn't look like a well manicured lawn
Simple Oblivion Remastered plugin manager - to update that pesky plugins.txt file
Simple Dog Follower - Clancy - why does Oblivion give you followers only at high levels, when you don't need their help anymore? Clancy fixes that.. and he is a very good boy.
Immersive Difficulty - because I got tired of 'bullet sponge' enemies (40 arrows to kill a wolf? really?)
Ascension Remastered - Vanilla-Plus Loot and Balance - for gameplay tweaks
Climates Revised - for more diverse weather patterns
Universal Achievement Unblocker
A More Complete World Map - 4K colored map
SkyMarkers - Compass and World Map Markers Redone - those triangular markers would look good in Morrowind but they feel out of place in Cyrodiil
Friendly Animals - so you don't end up with a long line of murderous mudcrabs right out of the sewers.

Following the Path of Dawn, and discovering magic and secrets along the way.
Saga, my character, starts as a rogue fresh out of the Imperial Prison.
She doesn't know any magic and keeps relying on a sword and bow, which is increasingly difficult as the plot thickens.
The pull of Magic will lead her to the Mages Guild very soon. Fixing the Orrery was just the first step.

Ran away from a bandit.. passed an Oblivion gate and got the attention of a clanfear.. picked up a dire wolf somewhere along the way... then straight through a field with four aggressive bear cubs.
All I had to do is wait for them to sort it out and finish off the last one standing.
I hope the long aggro time gets fixed at some point. It is ridiculous how enemies will follow you to the ends of Nirn, forever.

Intrigues and errands.
The Imperial City is never far.
I rediscovered how massive Cyrodiil really feels compared to Skyrim.

Becoming the Hero of Kvatch.
I discovered I never got to attempt to save the Count of Kvatch the first time around.
I wonder how many things I left out when I first played it.
