I know a lot of photogs pick a color style for a set & stick to it. Is that a rule or something? 🤣 But idk, I thought this photo was moody & I wanted to make the color match. I love almost all the solo shots I got of @twiliheart 😊 Funny story. I was shooting with @thickknees & @candyvampi while Twili was shooting with someone else right next to me on Saturday. I hadn't met her at that point & was like: big hecc - I wanna be friendos, her Pyra is gorgeous. But I was too busy & didn't wanna be rude. 😭 Ironically I had agreed to shoot with @paintcosplay on Sunday. Turns out it was a duo shoot & Twili was her Mitsuha. So, that worked out pretty well. 🤣🤣🤣 . Anyhoo! Editing stream tomorrow. Probably gonna pick a few from the shoot with Candy & Alli. And then try to do some dailies in ESO! Meeting @twiliheart & @paintcosplay as well as a few others made AZ worth it! Yay new cosplay friendos! 😄 . But basically I'm posting early to encourage y'all to do your art *your* way! While editing these photos on stream last night I had a chatter try to convert me to flash photography & trashed natural light shooting. He told me I needed to do this & that if I wanted to be in the "pro world". . So, I felt like this was a great photo to express *why* I don't use flash. Candid shots aren't meant to be intrusive, you're a fly on the wall. Either a series of shots taken between poses or a quick snap while the model is laughing. Flash draws too much attention & sometimes they take a while to recharge. Also, having minimal equipment & assistants for 3 full days relieves SO MUCH stress. . In the end, I'm happy. My clients are happy! I'm not upset. Cosplay & photography doesn't need to feel so competitive. Art is subjective. Those that force their views on you lack love in their life & seek validation in their perspective. Don't succumb to that influence. *Long Emotional Post Inbound* . I felt like today was the perfect day to post @polyploidycosplay ‘s Kumaria, after mentioning @paintcosplay ‘s Lulu yesterday! Turns out today is the first day of Pride Month. It’s also me and @caught_red_headed ‘s BDay month! So let’s start it off with BIG LOVE! . Yurikuma Arashi is an odd & obscure anime about these kawaii bears that turn into human girls so they can come to the human world, because they’re all hella lesbian for each other. Basically. I decided to binge it after I was booked for this shoot & it took me a while to see it; but this show is so deep & meaningful. There’s two quotes from the show that stick with me: “From the beginning we hated you. But also, we loved from the beginning as well.” & “I won’t give up on love. As long as I have love, even if I’ve lost something, I will never be invisible.” . You see, being invisible is to live a life of hatred, fear, emptiness & fitting in between the lines - doing what you’re told. When you’re “excluded”, your sense of self is lost & many lose their humanity trying to fit in with the “Invisible Storm”. The Invisible Storm serves to create social pariahs & destroy those who don’t follow social cues. This might be an esoteric concept… but essentially, I haven’t been myself lately. I felt like I was becoming “invisible”. It’s hard to be kind, people can be jerks. It’s hard to trust, people have failed me. It’s hard to keep personal relationships alive - I’ve lost so many. The more we care, the deeper we hurt & the more we want to say “From the beginning I hated you”. But Kureha’s words made me realize that no matter what has been lost or how hard it gets, as long as you don’t give up on love - you won’t become invisible. You might be struggling, but *you* aren’t lost to the Storm. That was such a comforting concept going into Animazement. . Kumaria plays a big role in the characters fulfilling their love & I feel like not many have done this cosplay. So, I’m honored to have taken these photos & that I had the opportunity to learn about such a beautiful show!
