one hand pressed against the small of her back, another tangled in her hair and his lips explored her skin. her head tipped back, giving him more access to the sensitive skin without her mind consciously telling it to move. carly felt completely out of control of her actions, thoughts she would never even consider racing through her mind. âyouâre making me go crazy,â she said, her voice coming out in a pathetic, breathy whine as he used the hand at her back to press her flush against him. she wanted to slide onto his lap, wrap her legs around his waist, and that desire in itself had to be the influence of dionysus in him, his ability to spark madness. dax was making her lose her mind, quite literally. âwhy? you just like to torment me?â
THE SMOOTH SURFACE of her skin slid under the warm presses of his lips, unable to help himself in his greed to drive her crazy, even without his powers coming into play. and she gave in, feeling the way more skin was offered in the tilt of her head, making him smirk against the curve of her shoulder as she finally breathed out what he so longed to hear. âyeah?â he whispered out near her ear, loving the tones of that whine she offered out to him. humming lowly as his fingers danced up the curve of her spine, he kissed under her ear as he couldnât help how he chuckled under his breath, âi canât lie and say it isnât hot as fuck, no. but i donât think you mind it at all, do you?â he asked as he let his warm breath tickle against her neck, fingers creeping under the hem of her shirt.

volunteering for this formal was starting to become much more trouble than it was worth. seth was already spending late nights trying to keep his grades at a passable level, but now adding painting signs to his list of responsibilities was threatening to send him into academic probation. he was just planning to slip into the studio, sneak away with some paint, and return it before anyone even realized it was missing, when he pushed open the door and discovered that he wasnât alone. âoh,â he echoed. both of them stood frozen, staring at each other, each caught in the act separately. âsorry, i didnât realize. i just needed some paint. have you killed someone?â
STANDING THERE, HANDS almost dripping with red paint, he chuckled a little under his breath. albeit, a little nervously, as he shook his head left and right, âi havenât, i promise, i was just working on a silly still life thing for a project. i just, i wanted it to be perfect and the detailing is better using your hands and-â sighing, he stopped himself short as he motioned to the cabinet behind him with a little tilt of his head, âbut the extra paint is in the cabinet back there to the left, as usual.â carefully, he moved to the sinks nearest him to rinse his hands clean as he cleared his throat, âare you working on something?â

sheâs been running the same routine for what seems like ever but is more like the past hour. music blaring from the small speaker under the tree as she tries to perfect the cheer, going back to the notebook laying open on the grass as she jots down different ideas. the task being that much more complicated by the pair of eyes that seem to follow her which threaten to throw her off as she finds herself occasionally looking back before deciding to do something about it. storming toward him, she stops short just a few inches away as her hands find their way onto her hips. âokay, so like i get it, iâm hot but literally take a picture, itâll last longer.â
WHENEVER HE WATCHED as the girl beelined right to him, each stomp she took enough to make the panic in his body only rise as he swallowed down thickly and moved his gaze down to his lap where his sketchpad sat. âi-i, um, i didnât mean to...stare. i just, i was just working on the scenery and you were in it and then i got transfixed and-â stopping the way he was stumbling over his words, he carefully held up his sketchpad like a shield and cleared his throat, âthis.â on the page was a delicate drawing of a girl, arms like beautifully crafted lines, and he couldnât manage to keep eye contact as he sat in silence.Â

virginia: are you kidding me?? you're so angry at me that you really thought the best way to spite me was to fuck some random girl in my own bed? do you even get how messed up that is?
virginia: i get it. i hurt you and i'm sorry. whether or not you believe me, i actually am truly sorry for all the pain i've caused you, theo.

she gives him an understanding nod , pushing down any worry that comes along with his statement. the fact that theyâre both carved from the same cloth, makes them masterâs at avoiding actually talking about their feelings. instead, she finds herself making light at it, deciding that if and when he ever wants to talk about, heâd let her know. âah. well, next time, remember to come find me. sharing is caring, after all â i get a fix to help me sleep and you donât have to worry about not making it out in one piece.â lips purse together as eyes focus from dax onto the floor as she debates the thought for a moment. it sounds a little weird? she keeps the thought to herself and instead responds with a shrug. âwhat do you end up dreaming with the psychedelic?â she canât help but ask, extremely curious by what effects it has on his dreams. âevery time i try to open my mouth to make things better, i just end up making things worse,â she sighs, âstill? iâm sorry.â the irony of how both of them fucked things up with the children of zeus doesnât escape her, especially considering her friendship with june and their golden rule of not mentioning the otherâs brother. âoh, weâre definitely the pride and joy of dionysus, thatâs for sure.â
THE TWO CHILDREN of dionysus were merely on in the same, avoiding feelings and communication like that of the plague, the self destructive behavior normal for the duo. weighing out the option of finding virginia, he knew he wouldnât do it, while she might not have been the most pure...he didnât want to rope her into the bullshit he did. but he nodded, keeping his poker face as calm as he could, âfor sure, it seems like a win-win, look at you with decent ideas.â it was an ego boost, one he hoped she favored instead of calling him out for lying, shoving his mouth full of more warm chinese food. âmmm, mostly about weird shit, sometimes about being home, sometimes...my grandmother.â the last one as a more believable and vulnerable answer, honest as he shrugged his broad shoulders and glanced over to her. heâd never really dived into his past, but if it was ever to be done, it would probably be with his sister. she was the only real family he had now, everyone else dead by his own hands (at least thatâs what he convinced himself of). âah yeah, must run in the family. itâs impossible to find the right things to say, someoneâs always going to get hurt.â dax muttered with a small tilt of his head, a dry laugh leaving his lips as he took a bite out of an eggroll to his left, âi mean, i donât blame them, i fucked up. itâs on me, thereâs nothing i can do now.â sighing as she pointed out the way their father probably was proud of the disasters they were leaving for the zeus kids, âi donât know if thatâs a good thing or a bad thing.â

the last quest ophelia had been on hadnât gone well. sheâd been directly responsible for the death of one of her friends and then sheâd used the trauma to bond with the third person sheâd brought: the guy she had a crush on. if karma exists, which ophelia believes it does, the likelihood of her returning from this quest alive, let alone intact is slim. she sighs, stepping closer and pulling him in for a hug. âi was going to ask you to come. but i canât risk you.â theo would be powerful to have on a quest, but perhaps too powerful. a son of zeus would draw the attention of every monster in the country, whereas three demigods of less powerful lineage might be able to skate relatively under the radar.Â
-
NOT BEING ABLE to protect the ones he cared about was difficult for him to do, especially in the face of monsters, heâd fought off more than he could recall, so having been turned away was hard for him. ârisk me? ophelia, i want to help protect you...â he murmured, reaching out and wrapping his arms around her, cheek resting atop her blonde locks as he took a deep breath. âi canât let you go, please, let me help.â selflessness ran through him as he pulled back a bit, hazel eyes scanning her face in some sort of silent plea. the time heâd spent with her, pretending to be her boyfriend, protecting her from weirdos in bars and events...it only made him want to be that for real, to be the one who helped fight off monsters by her side.Â

âFOR THE RECORD, i never look like shit.â he said easily, feeling the cool press of a water bottle in his lap now, slowly and sloth-like as he reached over and opened it. âmaybe, and whatâs it to you? i didnât know you were the house judge, i had a long night.â dax admitted with a little shrug, bringing the water to his lips, a shining light for the cotton mouth he was going through already.

SOSA GIVES TEDDY AN UNDERSTANDING nod, â yeah, i know. not wanting to miss out on anything.. i get it !! â he couldnât imagine keeping up with half of the things teddy did, it was admirable, in his eyes. the blue-eyed boy leans forward a bit, excited to see his friend so excited. sosa canât help but hold onto every word teddy says, though thoughts seem come to a halt as the mood half-heartedly sours. he briefly glances at the otherâs disappointed expression, before taking the cupcake to inspect for himself. â please.. i think itâs got character, still !! âbesides, â sosa starts, looking up to his friend, â the fact you even made it for me in the first place means itâs perfect. wanna split it ?? â
âI HAVE THIS AWFUL case of fomo, itâs like something i canât really shake, thereâs just so much out there i canât help myself.â he admitted somewhat bashfully, nibbling on the inside of his cheek, knowing he had a reputation of being all over the place. glancing up whenever sosa leaned forward, his hazel gaze looked at the boyâs stunning blue eyes for a split second before clearing his throat, âuh, yeah so.....it was this cool rainbow tye-dye thing for pride and now itâs, this.â teddy huffed out, although his sad expression softens whenever sosa still credited him and complimented the sweet, âyou donât have to be nice, i messed it up, but itâll probably taste good still.â pausing, he nodded and carefully split the cupcake into two and gave sosa the bigger half, âhere, fingers crossed it tastes better than it looks.â

her stomach drops at his words , leaving her at a complete loss. words that reinforce what she already knows, memories made throughout the years where heâs proved time and time again just how loyal he is. heâs stuck with her through thick and thin and despite that, she keeps running away in fear. insecurities always getting the best of her, the lingering thought that heâll one day realize sheâs too broken to bother with, psyching her out to the point of running away. his actions have never suggested anything for her to rationally jump to the conclusion that heâd hurt her. instead, itâs continuously her actions that hurt them both. âi know, theo, i know,â she whispers, frustrated at herself, âitâs not that i donât want to trust you, i do. thereâs nothing more that i want than to stop running away but i keep getting scared and i know itâs not right, much less fair but i canât help it. everything i said to you that night was true though. despite the fact that i left without saying anything, everything i said before that was true.â she grows quiet for a moment, a cautious gaze falling on him that softens at his words. her instinctive reaction is to look away, put up yet another wall that will allow her to keep some type of power over her emotions. vulnerability not being an emotion she letâs herself deal with and teddy asking her to be honest puts her in a place she rarely allows herself to be in. âcanât we still?â his answer only leaves her in that much more confusion. buried emotions unexpectedly surfacing that night leaving her with more questions than answers. silence fills the air once again as she meets his eyes. a variety of emotions bubbling inside of her as she tries to find the right thing to say before she manages to spit something out. âi canât lose you,â she admits, fear lingering in her tone knowing how much she has to lose, âyouâve always been a part of my life, even when we werenât together, you were still around. and i know you said you couldnât hate me but right now it really feels like you do which i donât blame you, i hate me too. i really fucked up and i donât know how to fix things. i want to so badly.â a dry laugh leaves her lips as tears well in her eyes. âif thereâs anything i wish i could fix, itâd be going back to christmas break and not walking away. that was the dumbest thing iâve ever done and i shouldnât have. i should have been honest with you then just like i should have been honest with you on your birthday instead of leaving in the middle of the night.â chest rises as she takes a deep inhale, exhaling through her nose. âiâm terrified, t. iâm so fucking scared and every time i try to fix things i just make them worse and i canât seem to make it stop.â
LOYALTY WAS SOMETHING that ran deep in teddyâs blood, always being the one people could rely on, the one people looked to for guidance and strength, and the fact now that he felt so weak from virginia spoke volumes. he was bleeding himself dry for her, hard facts that he would do whatever it took for her, even if it had meant destroying himself. âwhatâs scaring you? thatâs what i donât understand, why you canât you just talk to me? weâve shared so much and yet you feel like you canât just let me know what has you so spooked?â taking a moment, he could tell that what she said was honest, when she had come over and apologized. it was the first time she confronted everything that had happened, something she never did before, but then she bolted in the middle of the night. one step forward, and three steps back. his gaze had drifted out to the night sky, searching for an answer in the stars, only to fall short whenever she posed her question. canât they still? it was loaded with a multitude of meanings, it seemed, and he glanced back over to her with a momentary softness. âif you actually give me answers and stop fucking with my head, yeah, maybe.â he muttered, gritting his teeth as he ran his digits through his messy brown locks. gods, when did everything get so complicated with them? he shouldâve expected as much with the daughter of dionysus, someone who invoked madness and chaos, probably proud of his daughter in the way she broke down someone like teddy, the son of zeus. her admission of being in fear of losing him makes his throat tighten, because never in his life did he imagine it without virginia in it, even after all the shit she pulled him through. âiâll always be in your life somehow, whether it be in memory or not...â he informed her, trying to keep composure, but it was easier said than done as she kept speaking and the tears began to gather on the brim of her warm brown eyes. âi donât hate you, virginia.â he admitted softly, and then the confession of regret left her lips, making his heart skip a beat stupidly. the boy was teetering on the edge of falling into a trap again, he felt it, so he turned towards her and shook his head, âbut you canât, thatâs the problem. you made those choices, no one made you make them...you keep breaking my heart and i donât know how much i have left.â and then he reaches up, brushing a tear off her cheek, but not in a way where he would typically cradle her face. âyou donât think iâm scared? every time you do something like this, itâs terrifying, but you have to communicate. you canât keep running because...i donât think i can keep chasing you.â

she hadnât expected her impassioned speech to actually have an effect, but he seemed to react. maybe that was just how all guys were with a girl on their lap; it certainly fit the stereotype of what a guy in his twenties would do when confronted with the same situation, but she had no experienced to speak of to know if it was the truth. laurelâs breath caught as she found herself scooped up into his arms, both of them barely coming up for air between the moment she was lifted off the couch and feeling her back pressed against the wall. she took a breath as his lips trailed down her neck to the most sensitive spot and he pressed against her. after a moment, laurel slipped one leg down, giving herself a better footing. she reached for the doorknob beside them, leaning her head against the wall as looking at teddy. âlast chance to change your mind,â she said as she pushed the door open and entered before him, slipping her shirt over her head and dropping it onto the floor as she waited for him to follow.
FTB
IT WAS KIND OF HARD to think whenever you had a pretty girl grinding up on you in your lap, better judgement slipping from the tips of his fingers, falling into a black abyss in the back of his mind. normally, an idea like the one she posed would have gotten hesitation and rejection, but right now he was a little too distracted to do the right thing. then she was on the ground, looking up at him with tempting eyes and giving him another out, but her shirt was discarded and he didnât even take a moment to walk in behind her and close the door quickly behind himself.Â
AND THEN IT WAS OVER, laying there he stared at the ceiling out of breath as he tried to collect drunken thoughts over what just happened. âwow....â he murmured, fingers reaching up to push through his messy locks, pursing his kiss swollen lips together in a straight line. the realization that he was in ivyâs bed, the faint smell of her perfume on the pillows, wasnât even registering from his post sex high. âum, so, that was something.â really smooth, teddy, but he was sort of at a loss of words on what to do or say next.Â

she was in danger of ripping the fabric of his shirt as her fingers twisted into a fist, all of the pent up tension struggling for release in some form. he held her steady as her lips parted against his and she allowed her instincts to take over, the tip of her tongue tracing the shape of his bottom lip before she bit down softly, experimentally, still testing the waters. she had never kissed someone like this before. she had never been kissed like this before, in a way that made her strain for more contact between them. the hand that held his collar slipped down, finding one of daxâs belt loops as she shifted forward. her head spun as she parted from him just long enough to take a breath. âwhat are you doing?â she asked before leaning in again.
HE FELT THE WAY she pulled at his shirt, needy in a way that sent him reeling, getting this put together girl to fall apart for him was far too intoxicating for his own good. the smooth glide of her tongue along his bottom lip prompted for him to part his petals, feeling the way her teeth captured and tugged at it in a way that earned a low sigh to crawl up his throat. it was hot, this whole thing was hot, and he moved his fingers into her hair to tangle his digits there. the tension had risen to new stakes and when her fingers moved to his belt loops for a little tug, he smirked against her lips, the breathless question was one that hung between them for only a split second, âwhat do you mean?â dax whispered into her mouth, hands tracing down the dip of her back, pulling her in closer as he left kisses along the curve of her jaw.
