rasulullah (saw) mentioned in a hadith that those souls who knew each other in the realm of souls [alim e arwah] would find and know each other in this world too, and those who developed animosity in that realm would dislike each other here as well. 

and that’s why, when you meet certain people, you’re suddenly overcome with a feeling that you know them from somewhere or that you’ve met them before. and maybe this also accounts for those moments when your heart misses someone you’ve never met, because your soul is yearning for those other souls and waiting for them to show up in your life here in this world.

but, listen. Let me tell you that in my existence of this almost eternal yet, not so eternal thing at all - life - that I chose you. I chose to, to relearn things about myself and transform into someone we could both love, appreciate, and respect in the most simplistic ways. Let me tell you that in one day from today, one month from today, one decade from today, that whenever I hear your name, I will still get caught off guard as if we, as if we were something greater than life. As if us together destroyed the possibility of unhappiness in the world, because for so long I believed that with the touch of your skin, long gazes into your eyes, that unhappiness couldn’t belong in the same universe you were in. And to be frank, you were my universe.
