In Singapore, all of the country’s citizens and permanent residents receive a letter when they turn 21 informing them that they have registered to donate their kidneys, liver, heart and corneas when they die. Residents and citizens can opt out with the Ministry of Health, but individuals who are not registered are sent to the bottom of the waiting list if they ever need to receive donated organs.
