also apollo is very much an optimist who never gives up and zeus fucking hates it
he keeps escalating putting him in more and more of the most heinous circumstances that would literally pulverize anyone's mind with despair so he would just. break. and he just goes *inhale* *focused Intense gaze* *through gritted teeth* "I can work with this"
it's a matter of principles and baked deep into him being the personification of Light
it's very important to me he's Very Much This

The Sun. Will Rise. Again. and that's both a promise and a threat

Snotlout was at his prime on rtte because he was far from Spitelout. He definetely needed to be far from his father and discover himself. My hc about Snotlout being so awful in THW was because he was back at Berk, back under Spitelout judgemental sigth

TOA related animatic ideas
so yeah, animatic ideas. Anyone who knows me knows I've reached the highest tier of brain rot when I start attributing songs and planning animatics (the layer below that is writing fanfics and one below that reading an egregious amount of em)
Anyway I have 3 of em rn
Gladiator by Jann
The whole of toa, literally perfect. I can literally imagine the council looking down with the line 'Show us something we ain't never seen before'/'Show us some good entertainment', There are so many lines and imagery in the song that would be perfect for toa like, ughhhhh.
Will You Fall In Love With Me Again by Anna Lea and Jorge Rivera-Herrans
The Epic song but it's about Artemis and Apollo post toa (siblings...). Basically this would take place instead of the conversation the two had after Apollo fights Python but before he answers (and meets again) the rest of the council. it's about Apollo recounting his experience as a mortal and in a sense worrying that he has changed too much for Artemis to still love him as before, but still asking his twin to love him (he dosen't regret how he's changed but, there's something to be said about the fear of falling out of step with someone you've always been in step with before).
Artemis just goes 'you idiot' on him, as she should. A lot of the lyric would be changed to fit (better), I'm thinking the wedding bed replaced by a bow, the first one the twins made together as kids.
They're so sibling
You’ll be back by Jonathan Groff and Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton
Commodus (no explanation needed)
Idk if I'm actually going to develop these into full animatics or not, depends on motivation and time I have lol. But they do rotate around in my head like all the other things, so the possibility is not 0.li

tbh I think the best way I can describe rrverse apollo and athena's relationship is drift compatible
no matter their feelings they get each other in a way no one else quite can

it's so fucking important to me that you not only don't take apollo's unhinged inner monologue seriously but that you don't assume the other gods are also freaks who think, or worse, act like this. this is apollo specific behavior
like, the gods aren't actually super proud and bragging about how little they care about mortals and demigods. the accepted party line is that they do care about them
apollo is being,, kind of facetious?? the monologue is artificial and its purpose is to immerse himself in "godly thinking" and to do that he does away with all the trappings of his fellows and goes straight to what he perceives as the Truth of olympus' mentality with a straight up villainous inner narration. he's making the subtext text. It's a call out and almost a satire
(and it's only in his thinking!! it's to maintain a psychological distance!! he doesn't actually act like this)
but like, I expect the gods who actually think like this to just not consider or think too much of things they don't care about. or to have a buttload of excuses and self justifications and inner reasonings in order to make themselves look and feel good

it would've been so perfect. Thalia hangs out with Artemis everyday as her lieutenant and Apollo would've visited Jason in every free time after his punishment. A celestial twin for each of the Grace siblings. Apollo giving Thalia a ride to visit Jason or vice versa bimonthly. Artemis silently approve of Jason too like a boy who was raised by the wild, brother of her lieutenant, and someone who protected her twin when she couldn't? That lines up right her alley. She secretly gave him her blessings. Jason got offered to join in the hunting sometimes but he's too polite to accept lmao. Apollo being laughed at by Thalia after Reyna told her about the confession. Artemis visiting her brother only to find out he was hanging out in Jason's dorm eating fries upside down on Jason's bed while Jason himself sketched a new temple on his desk. Thalia is just mad she doesn't get invited.
Their dad might be the biggest jerk of the millennia, but at least they still have each other.
(Thalia and Artemis are both older sisters forced to watch their little brothers get taken away from them and unable to do anything about it. Jason and Apollo are little brothers disconnected from their sisters due to their father.)

I really really love any Apollo & Nico interactions in pjo. In both fanfic and canon (in a platonic way ofc)
I don't even know why. I think it's cause they're opposites, Apollo is a wise god and Nico is a naive sixteen year old. Apollo is sunshine himself, Nico is the son of the underworld god. God of silver and minerals and stuff. Apollo is god of truth, Nico repressed a part of himself for so long... Which is actually a similarity I believe they have. Because Apollo represses parts of himself in Olympus. Nico can feel safe with that part of himself with him because Apollo had been a bi-disaster for thousands of years.
Nico had a pretty good introduction to Apollo during a time when not many people were nice to him which I love. And Nico has trust issues I believe, and Apollo is so well-meaning and is one of the gods most likely not to betray him.
I also love the idea of a sixteen year old being friends with his boyfriend's godly dorky dad.
(also I think Nico needs a really affectionate father-ish figure in his life)

apollo having memories of things he knows make no sense for him to have, having sudden strong feelings and opinions and doing little habits. and the sickening realization that these are things helios used to do that these are helios' thoughts and memories and that they have been integrated so seamlessly into himself he's only able to recognize it intellectually and who knows how many he's not realizing because they're not open contradictions or things he recognizes
just,, the psychological and body horror of being unwillingly merged with someone you knew and ending up winning as the stronger will and killing them in the process and being aware of it all but unable to stop it

villain hermes would pretty much be an analog horror scenario...
like every time I try to imagine Zeus Finally Going Off The Deep End and blasting some apocalyptic shit my brain forces me to remember that then, communications Would be Compromised :))) and that alone carries way more dread than whatever zeus could come up with

one of the most fun parts of imagining The Revolution is thinking of How the god's powers would mix and match and counter each other
like I imagine one of the first things apollo would do would be to safeguard his children against zeus because he's learnt his fucking lesson so then I ask how he would do that and I find the answer a solid he would ask hestia who ideologically hard counters zeus with her family domain for when he tries to pull a(nother) kinslaying and that's how I make her join
The Zeus And Hermes Villain Team™ with olympus becoming a surveillance state NIGHTMARE and zeus becoming more and more unhinged until he decides to go full scorched earth and the night is bright from the Torrent of lightning you can see raining in the distance and the media keeps insisting Everything Is Fine and if you ask anything alarming or cry for help it's either Completely Ignored (almost as if you hadn't posted in the first place) or in-real-time Censored and no matter where you try to go all the roads seem to loop back
I try to think How The Fuck would the revolution team keep their communications and locations and movements and even fucking verbal conversations safe from fucking hermes spying and having a 24/7 front row seat and maybe artemis who Would go physically track them down and find them if he can't and then it hits me– Dionysus. we don't have anyone who can hide and occlude but what we do have is someone who can distort any information and act both as encrypter and nat 20 psychic damage cognito hazard
it's just fun, zeus vs apollo, storm vs sun, zeus' lightning being physically tangible makes it more dangerous and harmful and stronger than just light but that very same immateriality makes apollo's light pretty much invincible because it cannot be moved

I saw a headcanon that Lin Manuel Miranda was a child of Apollo a few years ago and looking at the show JUST IMAGINE
You're Apollo, God of practically everything. Your newest hot Babe (or man, whatever gets his front porch moisturized) just gives birth to a new light in this world. One of the most radiant children to exist. Only because YOU blessed her with your presence
AND THEN YOU LOOK AT THE BABY AND HE LOOKS JUST LIKE THAT STUPID FUCKING BITCH CATTLE STEALER

I'm aware of how random this sounds
But because rrverse Apollo and rrverse Hermes have a tense and distant relationship, I was thinking about how differently they interact with their kids, and my thoughts spiralled until I thought of Luke.
I feel like an Apollo and Luke interaction would be so interesting. Luke probably wouldn't like him due how May got all messed up from trying to be his Oracle, but I feel like Apollo would be a kind uncle BECAUSE he knows what Luke's fate is (and probably disapproves about how Hermes treated the whole thing).
Like remember when Apollo once said that he would of adopted Frank if he could? I would like to think he would of wanted to adopt Luke too.
Your thoughts?
oh luke DOES NOT have a good impression of apollo. apart from the may thing let's not forget the event that kinda radicalized him was HALCYON GREEN. it's very interesting actually because he sees hermes as uncaring and neglectful but he sees apollo as actively malicious
so he thinks hermes is The Worst bc of his inaction but then comes apollo who he perceives as too involved, in the bad way (he's not, luke who by pure coincidence witnessed two apollo related atrocities before sixteen is an outlier and shouldn't be counted) Lots of wires crossed
but sadly I think bc of that his reaction to apollo would be very,, measured?? like, he thinks he's evil!! apollo would come down to see what's the deal with this kid everyone's making such a fuss about and luke would be very polite and amiable and and apollo would get hermes vibes™™ that he's just acting like that to hide he's scared and uncomfortable and then apollo would leave bc he doesn't want to keep subjecting him to that by forcing his presence. but he wouldn't know just How Much he was lying then and the depth of his Issues
but if they somehow got into a situation where luke gives up any attempt at preservation and GOES OFF at apollo (which he would) apollo would, well he would respond very calmly and pointedly take responsibility for everything which would confuse THE FUCK out of luke
and then he would go directly to hermes and tell him he needs to get down here now this shit is serious and hermes would be like "you know I can't why are you making it more painful than it already is" and apollo would be like "you're being an extremist and oddly stubborn about this" and they would go at it for a looong time.
apollo's opinion on luke's fate is that hermes may not be able to control or change it but what hermes can control is his own relationship with luke and the way he's hurting him right now, that if tragedy is going to happen anyway and you love the one it's heading to, then it's your duty to balance the scales and steal moments from between the lines of prophecy, so that happiness WAS there, even if it didn't change anything. that hermes is not only withdrawing his love but causing more misery to an already doomed person... he cannot stand for it
in the end apollo would end up routinely dragging hermes to see luke bc hermes does want to but he won't admit anything to apollo and he'd be sooo awkward and pathetic with luke and luke would stare at him with disdain and judgement. in the end apollo ends up acting like a kind of particularly forceful family therapist
so lmao from luke's perspective it would be like "this guy I don't like and I don't understand, for an unfathomable reason, took my dad being absent as a personal offense and now keeps dragging him here like some kind of cat who keeps bringing dead mouse and keeps dropping by to give me weekly updates and lessons on godly psychology and politics"

5 Positive RRverse Hermes Facts.
He respects mortals’ autonomy and decision making. Hermes (canonically in the books at least) respects others’ choices and free will even when he doesn’t personally agree with their actions, words, and desires. He doesn’t want May Castellan to pursue the Oracle role but he also doesn’t threaten her or coerce her to change her mind. He also is willing to peacefully talk with Percy after he’s confused by Percy’s refusal of immortality. No manipulation just a friendly talk between two individuals. Also grants Luke’s request for a quest even when it makes him feel deeply uncomfortable.
His loyalty is one of his greatest strengths but also one of his most fatal weaknesses. Hermes’ loyalty appears when he discusses family with Percy. When he fears for George and Martha’s safety when they’re kidnapped. When he continues to visit May and makes sure she keeps her home, gets disability benefits and checks, and that she continues with her medical care through paperwork and divine intervention.
He is humble regarding his status as an Olympian. Doesn’t smite Luke for his backhanded comments regarding him. Can talk with Percy and other demigods casually. Just rarely loses his cool compared to most of the other gods we meet (aside from Apollo, Hephaestus, Artemis, and Iris).
He perseveres and stays strong despite his difficult personal situation. Hermes is often remembered as Zeus’ right hand messenger. Kind of how a highly educated scribe would be to a pharaoh since they were rare then. His worship and the belief he receives from his followers in PJO is very tied into his messenger duties (almost exclusively). In PJO, the gods can fade if they no longer have mortals believing in them. Forcing Hermes to continually promote a role in which he gets abused and neglected emotionally by much of his family so he can continue to be existing. With his workload to boot, it’s astounding that he hasn’t cracked yet.
He appreciates the simple things. This is implied in canon but Hermes really enjoys simple pleasures. A cold can of coke, a nice evening watching the ocean on the beach, and easygoing conversations seem to be things that he really enjoys.

The Hidden Oracle has the possibility to be a psychological horror given the many destabilizing things the books contains. The SUN GOD turned mortal, without much powers, for an indefinite period? The oracles got captured and there is a sentient one, calling you and attracting you in very dangerous places? Emperors of a forgotten past are back because they want to be gods? Having memory problems because your mortal brain can't remember almost anything? Doing a run in the Labyrinth without knowing where you are going (and isn't safe)?? Ending in the worst place you could ever end, with your enemy(ies) close to you? Having your children being kidnapped from you and almost put on fire in front of you? Being tormented by the thought of dryads, only to watch how they sacrifice themselves to help you out?
Half of this is like the start of an apocalypse.

Imagine a TOA AU where its not just Apollo falling from Olympus for Octavian
But Hermes too for Luke.
Everything else is the same but Hermes is also mortal, how much would change? Like the enemies stay the same, Meg 'enslaves' them both but what would change?
